In 2015 Indonesia Horizons (Part I) explored the islands of Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, West Papua and East Timor. Our next journey will travel extensively through Java and Bali, then cruise the fabled Spice Islands to Flores. From Jakarta we drive west to Anyer to take a boat trip to the shores of Krakatau island and its active offspring Anak Krakatau ( child of Krakatau ). We also visit remote Ujung Kulong National Park before returning to Jakarta and commencing a two week overland journey across Java to Bandung, Pangandaran on the south coast, the colonial market town of Wonosobo, high Dieng Plateau, the Buddhist stupa at Borobudur, the Sultan s palaces of Yogyakarta and Surakarta (Solo), climb to the rim of Mt Bromo to gaze into the sulphurous depths, then drive to the Ijen crater on the eastern tip of Java to see locals mining sulphur. On Bali's north coast we spend a night at beautiful Menjangan and the old capital of Lovina, then browse the many galleries of page 2 Ubud. We then embark on Ombak Putih, a fully refurbished Buginese phinisi schooner to sail through the fabled spice islands visiting Moyo, Sumbawa, Komodo and Rinca islands - home of the mighty Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis). From Labuan Bajo on Flores Island, we continue east by road to Ruteng, Bajawa and Maumere, from where we fly back to Bali for a relaxing end to this incredible journey of discovery. 3 Indonesia Horizons We drive through forested countryside to Pangandaran on the south coast, enroute stopping at a traditional Naga Village. Overnight at The Arnawa. We take a boat ride on the Cijulang River to see the stalactites and stalagmites in the beautiful Green Canyon, then drive via Cilacap to Wonosobo, a market town where tea and tobacco is grown. We stay overnight at the pleasant colonial era Kresna Hotel. sunrise over this 10th century Buddhist monument before the many day visitors arrive. We return to the hotel for a relaxed breakfast then drive to Jogjakarta to visit the Keraton (Sultan's palace), a living museum where Sultan Hamengkubuwono and his family still reside. Anak Krakatau (child of Krakatau) Our journey begins with a Garuda Indonesia flight from Sydney, Melbourne or Perth via Denpasar to Jakarta for overnight at the Sheraton Bandara Hotel adjacent to airport. We visit 'old Batavia' to walk through Fatahilah Square and visit the museum, and Sunda Kelapa harbour to see Buginese phinisi schooners. In the afternoon we drive to Anyer for overnight at Aston Anyer Hotel. We cruise by fast boat to view volcanic Mt Krakatau and nearby Anak Krakatau (child of Krakatau). We continue to Rakata Island for a swim over the coral reefs before cruising to the Ujung Kulon World Heritage Site. We stay at the simple Peucang Lodge in fan-cooled rooms. At Cidaon grazing fields we look for wildlife including banten cattle, wild pig and possibly the rare Javan rhino. At Citerjun we see the remnants of the calcifield terraces and stalagmites destroyed in 1883 by the Krakatau tidal wave. From Carita we drive back to Jakarta for two nights stay at Mandarin Oriental Hotel. We visit the flea markets on Jalan Surabaya, the National Monument and museum in Independence Square and at Pecinan (Chinatown) visit Asemka Market and try a famous ice coffee at Kedai Kopi es Tak Kie which was established in We drive via Bogor Botanical Gardens and the Puncak tea plantations to Bandung, where we stay two nights at Hotel Padma. We make a full day excursion to volcanic Mt. Tangkuban Perahu and the Ciater Highlands to walk to the rim of the crater. We visit a tea factory and have time for a bath in the Sariater hot springs, where the sulphuric water is said to cure various diseases such as rheumatism and arthritis. page 3 Green Canyon, Cijulang River boat ride In the cool and misty mountains of the Dieng Plateau (about 2200m above sea level), we see the first known standing stone structures in Java. Historians believe the eight small Hindu temples dating from the 7th century are all that remain of an original 400. After lunch we drive to Magelan and stay overnight at Plataran Borobudur. A pre-dawn start and special entry to the nearby Borobudur temple complex is rewarded (hopefully!) with a spectacular Sunrise over Borobudur In Kota Gede we take a becak (peddle-cab) through the old city where silverware and traditional jewellery has been made for centuries. We also see pendopo (traditional Javanese houses) some dating from the 18th century. We stay two nights at the historical MGallery Phoenix Hotel. We visit the magnificent 9th century Prambanan Hindu temple complex, where several structures are thought to date from the 8th century Syailendra Dynasty. In the afternoon we visit a traditional angklung (bamboo musical instrument) factory and have time to shop and explore Jalan Malioboro, Yogyakarta's main street.

4 Indonesia Horizons We take an early morning excursion to the spectacular Ijen crater, driving through rich farmlands and tropical forest to Paltuding from where we walk 3km to the rim of the volcano to observe miners cutting blocks of sulfur from the shores of the crater lake. We return to the hotel for a relaxed afternoon. Prambanan temple complex, Yogyakarta The next day we drive to Surakarta (Solo) where to visit Danarhadi Batik Museum which showcases more than 10,000 items of rare and historical batik pieces from all over Indonesia. At the Brojobuwono Keris factory we see craftsmen making Keris (traditional Javanese dagger), and at the Sangiran Museum see many exhibits of ancient hominids, vertebrates, marine and plant fossils. We stay overnight at the MGallery Surakarta Heritage Hotel. We drive to the small regency of Blitar, where we visit Penataran Temple, the largest intact and finest temple examples from the golden period of the Majapahit kingdom. We stay overnight at Tugu Hotel. We skirt around Mount Kelud on our journey north to Malang, which is a popular holiday destination known locally as Paris of East Java. We stay overnight at Tugu Malang, which boasts numerous antiquities and museum pieces. Keraton (Sultan's Palace), Surakarta We drive to Mount Bromo, one of several active volcanoes lying inside the massive 10km wide Tengger caldera. We descend into the caldera, drive cross the 'sea of sand' and after a short walk or poney ride climb the steps to the rim of the Bromo crater for spectacular views. We then drive to Banyuwangi on the eastern tip of Java, for a two night stay at Ijen Resort. Mt Bromo, Tengger caldera page 4 From Ketapang we take the car ferry to Gilimanuk on Bali, then drive to the Menjangan Resort for the night. We visit Jayapranas grave, a story from Bali's distant past somewhat akin to Shakespear s Romeo and Juliet; and Pulaki Temple, before reaching the old capital of Lovina for overnight at The Lovina Resort. We depart early by traditional outrigger boat in search of spinner dolphins feeding along the offshore reef. We then drive Collecting sulphur, Ijen crater through the mountainous interior to Bedugal and visit Pura Ulun Danau temple on the shores of Lake Bratan. At Mengwi we visit the Royal Temple of Taman Ayun, decorated with beautiful Balinese ornaments. We stay two nights at Maya Ubud. We take a full day excursion to Mt Kintamani overlooking Batur Lake, visit Goa Gajah (elephant cave), and Purkabala Museum with its collection of antique stone sarcophagi. Nearby, at Pura Penataran Sasih temple, there are two rows of ancient rock-hewn tombs. We return to Ubud through some of Bali's most scenic countryside tiered with photogenic rice terraces. We stroll through Ubud's handicraft markets and browse the galleries of prominent Balinese artists before driving to Celuk to watch gold and silver craftsment at work, then to the village of Mas where you can test your bartering skills purchasing carved wooden artefacts or locally made fabrics at the batik factory. We stay overnight at the beachfront St Regis in Nusa Dua.

5 Indonesia Horizons be magical, and with this in mind, we will walk to the lip of the caldera to view the lake. The seas surrounding the island are rich with corals and tropical fish, so we will spend the afternoon swimming and snorkelling. Around dusk we will see thousands of flying foxes leaving to feed on the neighboring island. Pura Ulun Danau temple, Lake Bratan We visit Wera, a Buginese settlement on the island of Sumbawa, where we will see the local men building wooden boats and the women weaving brightly coloured cloth. The next morning we embark on Ombak Putih, a fully refurbished and modernised Buginese sailing phinisi (schooner), to begin a seven day cruise through the fabled 'Spice Islands'. We sail across the Lombok Strait, the deep trench between Bali and Lombok which marks a very important ecological boundary first described by British naturalist Sir Alfred Russel Wallace. Wallace noticed that the flora and fauna Rice terraces, near Ubud of the islands to the west are home to Asiatic animal and plant species, whereas the islands to the east of the invisible Wallace Line have a greater similarity to species found in Australia. In the afternoon we make our first stop at one of the three Gili islands, just off Lombok s northwest coast. making it the oldest mosque on Lombok. The area around Senaru and Bayan was the birthplace of Lombok s unique Wektu Telu belief system which combines ancient animist practices with Islam. The next morning we will be moored off Labuan Aji village on the island of Moyo. We visit the village then walk to Diwu Mba i waterfall for a swim in the deep clear pool. We proceed to the island of Banta, passing Sangean island, an active volcano towering 1800 metres above the surrounding waters. Banta island is uninhabited and lies within the boundaries of Komodo National Park. Monkey forest, Ubud Moored off the coast of North Lombok, we go ashore to visit the village of Senaru, where one of the local women will give us an insight into the culture of the indigenous Sasak people while showing us the simple thatched houses and gardens of fruits and spices. We stroll through the forest to Sindang Gila, a roaring 40-metre high tiered waterfall. If time permits we will visit Bayan Beleq, a grass-roofed mosque said to have been founded in the 16th century, We sail to Satonda, a volcanic island with a sunken crater lake in its centre that was created by the tsunami following the 1815 eruption of nearby Mt Tambora. The eruption was the biggest volcanic explosion in the collective memory of mankind; it had roughly four times the energy of the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa, and gave rise to the year without a summer because of the effect on North American and European weather. 6 Indonesia Horizons When we wake up, the boat will be anchored off the beach of famous Komodo Island, one of approximately 80 islands that make up the Komodo National Park. We will go ashore at the ranger station in Loh Liang for an early morning ranger-led trek through the park searching for Komodo dragons. In this savannah-like setting of dry, rugged landscape, we will encounter, at a safe distance, these awe-inspiring, giant lizards Indonesia s living dinosaurs. We may spot deer, wild boar, sulphur-crested cockatoos, butterflies, rare orchids and jungle chickens particles of red coral mingled with the sand. Here we can swim and snorkel over one of the richest reefs in Eastern Indonesia. The next day we visit the ranger station at Loh Buaya on Rinca Island where we take another ranger-led nature trek in search of more Komodo dragons. Rinca is also well known for its diverse wildlife, so we may also spot monkeys, wild buffaloes and deer. In the evening we go ashore to a secluded beach for a bonfire and beach barbecue to celebrate our final night on cruise. We disembark at Labuan Bajo, on Flores Island, and visit Melo village where local strongmen perform the Caci, a ritual whipfight between two rivals in which the players, each armed with a rattan shield and a whip, will try to hit each other while dancing to the rhythm of traditional instruments. We stay overnight at the basic Wisma Bunda Maria Hotel. lakes, and after a walk through the Moni local market proceed to Maumere with stops at Jopu traditional village and Sikka weaving village. We visit Komodo village, then later put ashore at the gorgeous Pantai Merah red-beach, which takes its name from the Komodo dragon, Rinca Island The next morning we explore the local market then proceed to Bajawa with stops at Rana Mese Lake and Aimere to see the locals making palm wine. In Bajawa we stay overnight at the basic Bintang Wisata Hotel. A morning walk to the slopes of Wawo Muda volcano is rewarded with spectacular views of the twin color lakes. We then drive to Moni with stops at Bena megalithic village, Boawae and Wolotopo traditional villlage. We stay overnight at Moni Eco Lodge. We depart for an early morning visit to Kelimutu to see its picturesque three color We fly back to Bali and have time at leisure before visiting Pura Tanah Lot, an important Balinese temple siutated on a rocky outcropping. Over a thirst quenching cocktail we will watch the sun set over the temple before enjoying a meal at one of Seminyaks many exquisite restaurants. We stay overnight at St Regis Hotel. On our final morning we visit the stunning Uluwatu Temple built at the top of the cliffs on the southern tip of the Bukit Peninsula. 10 General Information and Booking Conditions To make a booking Complete the Booking Form on page 11 and return it to Far Horizons Tours Pty Ltd (hereinafter referred to as Far Horizons) with a deposit of $3,000 per person. Items included in the tour cost 1. Scheduled air travel and taxes as indicated 2. Transfers, assistance and porterage between airports and hotels 3. Accommodation in specified hotels or similar 4. Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily whilst on tour 5. Bottled drinking water in vehicles and with meals 6. Gratuities to guides, drivers and tour escort 7. All service charges and local taxes 8. All transportation and sightseeing as indicated 9. All entrance fees, admission charges, entertainments and cultural events 10. Services of Far Horizons escort throughout 11. Services of experienced local guide/lecturers 12. Free baggage allowance of 20 kgs (30kgs on Business Class flights) - or as applied by airline Items not included in the tour cost 1. Travel Insurance Balance of Payment Fifty percent of the tour cost must be received by Far Horizons at least one hundred days before departure (10 April 2017), and the balance must be received no later than forty-five days prior to departure (5 June 2017). About four weeks before departure we will send you historical notes and a general information booklet which contains information about climate, clothing, health requirements, visa procedures and other matters. Approximately two weeks prior to departure we will send your final joining instructions, detailed day by day itinerary, luggage labels and all other documentation pertinent to your journey. Please note we are not bound to issue any tickets or other travel documents until full payment is made. Failure to make payment when due may at our option be deemed a cancellation by you and we reserve the right to retain the deposit you have paid including any cancellation charges applicable. Late payment may cause the late delivery of travel documents and we accept no responsibility for such delivery or any consequence thereof. Late Bookings Bookings made within sixty days of departure will only be accepted if full payment is received at time of booking. Late booking fees may be charged in addition to any charges levied by operating suppliers. Cancellations All cancellations must be made to Far Horizons in writing signed by the person who made the original booking. In the event of cancellation the following charges will be levied, depending upon the number of days prior to departure date when Far Horizons receives written notice of cancellation: Up to 120 days $500 * days loss of deposit * # days 50% of tour price Less than 45 days 100% of tour price * plus any non-recoverable deposits paid on your behalf. # balance of deposit may be transferrable to a future Far Horizons tour on request. If you fail to avail yourself of any services comprised in the holiday, no refund will be available for services not provided. Changes to the advertised itinerary or designated airline Passengers wishing to make changes to the advertised itinerary may do so at an administrative charge of $200 per booking, plus the cost of any additional flights, accommodation and/or services. The air fare on which this tour is based requires all passengers to travel out together, so any extensions or amendments to the itinerary should take place after the completion of the tour rather than before, otherwise additional charges may be incurred. Passengers wishing to travel on a 'land only' basis, or to travel by airlines other than those designated will be required to pay a supplementary charge of $500 per person. Changes in prices and itineraries Prices are based on tariffs, air fares and exchange rates current at 28 September To reflect fluctuations in exchange rates or increases to the cost elements of the tour we reserve the right to adjust prices as may be necessary at any time. The tours are based on an economic minimum number of passengers. Should this minimum not be reached, we reserve the right to cancel the tour before non-refundable supplier deposits fall due or at Far Horizons Tours discretion. The right is reserved to refuse to accept any person, or to terminate any person's participation in the tour at our own discretion at any time during the course of the tour. We furthermore reserve the right to withdraw a tour or any part of it, or to make such alterations to the itinerary as we deem necessary or desirable in the event of delays or events beyond our control. In the event of any changes made we will give you or be caused to give you notice thereof including any consequent change in price. In the event any one change or series of changes to your itinerary demonstrates that your tour has thereby become materially different from that contemplated, you have the right to ask to rearrange or withdraw from the tour and monies already paid will be refunded less any charges levied by operating suppliers. Insurance We strongly advise passengers to take out travel insurance at the time of booking, covering medical, cancellation and emergency costs, cash in hospital, loss of baggage and documents, hijack compensation, death, disability and loss of income. Far Horizons can issue travel insurance on request. Accommodation The basis of accommodation provided is in a twinshare, double-share or single room with private bath or shower and w.c. in luxury, first class or (in remote regions or where infrastructure is limited) 'best available' hotels. Single rooms and share-twin accommodation At all hotels rooms are available for single occupancy at the appropriate supplement. These rooms are usually normal twin-bedded rooms, but occasionally they may be smaller. We will endeavour to match single persons wishing to book on a "share-twin" basis. However, such bookings are accepted on the understanding that the single supplement will be payable in the event of our being unable to find a suitable partner. Passengers wishing to book on this basis will be asked to complete a form to assist us in providing a compatible partner. Immigration and Health Each passenger must be in possession of a valid passport which should be valid for at least six months after completion of tour and have sufficient blank pages available to satisfy visa and arrival stamping procedure requirements. A visa is required for entry into Indonesia. Far Horizons will assist with obtaining this visa. Participation in this tour may involve walking over rough/uneven surfaces, embarking/disembarking from small boats or traditional forms of transport, travel at altitude and extremes of climatic conditions. Payment of your deposit confirms your understanding and acceptance of this and your ability to participate in all aspects of the tour. Acts of God We are unable to accept liability in contract or in tort for any injury, damage, loss, delay, additional expenses or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or other events over which we have no control including without limitation or rights, civil strife, terrorist activity, weather conditions, fire, flood, drought, industrial disputes, unusually severe weather, acts of God, acts of government, cancellation. Independent Suppliers Far Horizons purchases transportation, flights, hotel accommodation and other services from independent suppliers not affiliated with Far Horizons in any way. Far Horizons act solely as agents for the companies and/or persons supplying these services. Although we try to choose the best suppliers available we have no right to control their operations and accordingly cannot be responsible in any way for day to day problems resulting from the booking, or any loss, damage, delay, inconvenience or injury to persons or property or any loss howsoever arising, unless it is a direct result of negligence on our part or on the part of our employees, but any liability on our part shall be limited (except for death or personal injury) to a maximum of the tour cost subject to these conditions. Jurisdiction The passenger's contract is governed by the law of the State of New South Wales and any legal action arising pursuant to the contract shall be litigated in the appropriate court having jurisdiction in that State. page 10
