PIARC Congresses Congrès mondiale de la route, Mexico 2011 World Road Congress, Mexico 2011 (participation, préparation) City (participation, preparation) The Austrian National Committee is currently evaluating the possibilities for a National booth at the exhibition. A reservation has been made, final negotiations are still be completed. The Call for Individual papers and the PIARC Prize has been promoted extensively. All road related educational facilities such as universities and acadamies and the work group leaders of the national road research association were informed about the call. The Austrian National Committee is preparing National Reports for all of the four given topics. 6. Relations internationales International relations Promotion de l AIPCR Promotion of PIARC At the 5th International Conference Tunnel Safety and Ventilation, 3 5 May 2010 in cooperation with Technical University Graz At the general assembly of the National Road Research Assocation with more than 100 participants the World Road Congress 2011 in Mexico and the related call for papers was promoted intensively

5 RAPPORT DÉTAILLÉ SUR DES POINTS CULMINANTS DETAILED REPORT ON HIGHLIGHTS Austrian participation at the Winter Road Congress in Quebec: A large Austrian delegation was present at the Winter Road Congress in Quebec. Also, one session was chaired by Austrian TC member Mr. Manfred Skerlan and one presentation was given by Mr Spreitzhofer. Mr. Neuhold of the provincial government of lower Austria presented the salt controlling system at the poster session. Mr. Zotter, representative of National Committes, gave a speech at the center of the exhibition promoting the importance of National Committees

6 5th International Conference Tunnel Safety and Ventilation, May MAY 2010, Graz Austria has a long tradition in construction and operation of road and rail tunnels. Safety for users and accident response management have become important topics for existing and newly designed tunnels. The interaction of accident recognition, fire detection, operation and control of ventilation, rescue as well as maintaining the infrastructure in accidental situations have to be ensured. Following the successful tradition this international symposium offers again the possibility to exchange knowledge and to gain deeper insight into the newest developments in the fields mentioned below. The focus was put on: + Digital image processing and data transfer (bus-technologies) + Tunnel operation + Tunnel ventilation design, emission factors + Fire fighting, rescue + Risk management, incident and fire detection + Sensoric, measurement and detection technologies The programme covered plenary lectures on the 3rd and 4th of May as well as technical visits on May 5th, Detailled information is available here:
