Your tour continues with a boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny lights from the glow worms suspended from the cave ceiling. 7 This evening you will engage in a wonderful experience at the Tamaki Maori Village. Enroute your guide will instruct you on the rules and protocol for visiting Marae (meeting grounds). On arrival at the venue, nobody must enter the fortified village until the Powhiri (formal welcome) has been performed. The host tribe will send out a toa (warrior) who will challenge the guests, via their elected chief to ascertain if they come in peace. A Teka (peace offering) is placed and received by one of the visiting chiefs. At the Village, the Karanga, or "welcome call", will echo across the courtyard, followed by the Powhiri (welcome dance). You will then be able to enter onto the village grounds where the Tangata Whenua (people of the land) will demonstrate different activities such as poi twirling, hand games, weaponry displays, reciting chants and displaying activities of an era gone by. The buffet style dinner will be held in the meetinghouse dining hall and will have everyone enjoying a succulent Hangi feast. The evening ends with the Poroporoaki, the official closing ceremony and you will be safely transferred back to your accommodation. 3 Hours NZ Day 4 (April 5 Tuesday) Discover Rotorua Morning Tour Today on your morning tour you will visit Te Puia and the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute where you can view mighty geysers, boiling mud pools, and the traditional arts and culture of the Maori People. You will also experience Rainbow Springs which is a unique showcase of New Zealand's flora and fauna including New Zealand's national icon, a kiwi bird. NZ Day 8 (April 9 Saturday) Queenstown to Christchurch Depart Queenstown and travel through the rugged and beautiful landscape of Otago. Cross the Lindis Pass into the Mackenzie Country to visit Mount Cook Village at the base of New Zealand's highest mountain Aoraki / Mount Cook. Here there is time to experience an optional scenic helicopter or skiplane flight with a snow landing (weather permitting). Stop by Melbourne Town Hall, the Royal Exhibition Buildings and Federation Square. Stroll around Melbourne's spectacular Royal Botanic Gardens and the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens. Explore Captain Cook's Cottage (optional). Visit the bustling Queen Victoria Market and tranquil Albert Park Lake. At approx. 7.15am join your vehicle to commence a full day Great Ocean Road Classic Day tour. Depart Melbourne and travel to Torquay and Australia's famous surfing beaches. Continue on and pass through the coastal towns of Lorne and Apollo Bay with stops along the way to take in the breathtaking views. Journey through the luscious surrounds of the Otway rainforest and some of the tallest eucalyptus trees in Australia. Arrive at the iconic Cape Otway Lighthouse, mainland Australia's oldest surviving lighthouse and enjoy breathtaking views over the Southern Ocean and Bass Strait from the lighthouse, then enjoy your Aussie BBQ lunch. After lunch discover the Shipwreck Coast, stroll along the historic beaches and see Loch Ard Gorge. Enjoy the opportunity to pat and feed kangaroos, wallabies and a host of Australian wildlife. View spectacular coastal scenery at the Nobbies, two rocky outcrops abundant in marine life. Browse through the educational Phillip Island Visitors Information Centre. Learn about the little penguins and life on this stunning island. Watch the Little Penguins as they battle the surf and make their way to their dune burrows and learn of the environmental and conservation methods that are initiated to ensure the remarkable wildlife and vulnerable geology of Phillip Island remains protected. See the Little Penguins up close as they return to their nests to greet their young families and view the powerful southern coastline with its clean, sandy beaches and rocky shores. Enjoy more personalised wildlife viewing in an area limited to 140 people with ranger interpretation giving you a closer viewing of the Penguin arrival than the main viewing stands. 11 AU Day 6 (April 15 Friday) Kuranda Classic Tour with Train Skyrail and Rainforestation The Classic Kuranda Experience includes the main attractions of Kuranda, but gives you more free time to explore Kuranda. You will travel to Kuranda by scenic railway and then spend some free time in the village. Wander through the many shops and local markets, which offer a full range of local handicrafts, souvenirs, and gifts. You will then be transferred to Rainforestation Nature Park, where you will enjoy a delicious Australian BBQ lunch, a guided tour of the rainforest on board an amphibious Army Duck, and the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance performance, followed by the Dreamtime Walk. You will learn how to throw a boomerang, see a spear-throwing demonstrations, and learn about aboriginal culture. A guided tour of the Koala and Wildlife Park will commence at the Cultural Centre. 12 AU Day 8 (April 17 Sunday) Uluru Sunrise and Kata Tjuta Rise early this morning to travel to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku in Uluru & Kata Tjuta National Park. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Then travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side of Kata Tjuta before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. 5 Hours Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon Travel through spectacular desert scenery from Ayers Rock Resort to Kings Canyon Resort by luxury coach. Pass through Curtin Springs and view Atila (Mt. Conner). After turning off the Lasseter Highway and onto Luritja Road your Driver/Guide will provide informative commentary about the history of the surrounding cattle stations. Arrive at Kings Canyon Resort before dusk.
