2 Contd From Page 01 South: High Potential Market for Engineering Contractors Mr Narayan appreciated CHEMETCH s effort to organise one-day EPC conference as some of the key projects in the downstream industry have already been planned and stressed on choosing a unique theme and topics th at would be relevant for the industry based in South. He has also given his consent to attend the inaugural of the conference. Mr Samudra expressed his delight in attending the EPC CAB get together which enabled meeting his colleagues and professionals from the same peer group at one place, which otherwise was difficult. He stressed upon involving the service seeking and allied service providing companies based in South to which all the members agreed. and speakers for the industry meet. The EPC conference will aim at highlighting the available opportunities and deliberate on topical issues of interest for the engineering contracting industry. The board will take the final call on the conference programme during the next board meeting which will be scheduled later this month and extend the invitations to the speakers. Mr Narayan noted that despite the brief hiatus, he believed that this was a good time to invest and RIL was surging with the investment plans worth USD 20 billion. By the time the projects would be commissioned, the markets are likely to stabilise, he added. Mr Samudra noted that there had been a surge in number of PMCs India and southern part of the country. The board has proposed 3 sessions and 1 panel discussion along with suggested topics Refining Committee to Meet in Delhi Dr R K Malhotra to chair the CAB meeting on 6 th September 2013 Conference to stress on refining technologies The refining committee members have proposed organising one-day parallel conference on the 3 rd day of the Oil & Gas World Expo 2014 scheduled from 10 th to 12 th February 2014 in Mumbai to complete the value chain of the hydrocarbon industry. The Central Advisory Members (CAB) have shared their views regarding the structure of the international conference. Proposed sessions include Advances in Refining & Petroleum, Technological Advances, Environment Friendly Technologies & Technological Innovations in Petrochemicals & Polymers. The proposed programme will be presented and discussed during the committee s CAB meeting which is shortly going to be held under the chairmanship of Dr R K Malhotra, Director, Research & Development, IOCL. 2 August 2013

Apex Indian water corporations Central Water Commission (CWC), Central Water & Power Research Station (CWPRS), Pune, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) are participating in WaterEX South 2013 under the special pavilion for Ministry of Water Resources. National Water Development Agency (NWDA) & National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) have confirmed their support to the event. Dr Shailesh Nayak, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) & Mr H K Dash, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) have confirmed delivering keynote address on the opening day of the conference in Chennai. Mr A B Pandya, Member- Central Water Commission & Ex-officio Addl Secretary - Govt of India, Ministry of Water Resources chaired the first meeting of the Central Advisory Board (CAB) during the month of May in his office in New Delhi. The brain storming session that lasted for over an hour was attended by several industry chieftains and technical experts from the academia. Central Advisory Board (CAB) members agreed on the theme of 6R s of Water - Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Recharge, Rehabilitate, Regulate during the meeting. The members had detailed discussions during the earlier meeting to decide upon the topics which would justify each of the tracks spread over two days of the planned industry meet in Chennai. The board decided to hold talks on various aspects viz. Water consumption, Sustainable practices, Desalination, Water recycling & reuse technologies, Restoring the water bodies, Rehabilitating the existing investments and Public private partnerships and more such topical subjects. The members are taking very high interest in the conference and have shared more suggestions post circulation of the proposed conference programme for bringing greater focus and making measurable impact towards addressing the water related issues in the country. Mr Pandya chaired the second CAB meeting on 1 st August 2013, in New Delhi. Capt. Anand chaired the first organizing committee meeting in Mumbai on 5th August at The Chambers, Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Mr. M. V. Ramamurthy - President (Shipping), Reliance Industries Ltd. will head the Technical Committee and Capt. Sandeep Kalia MIIMS, RSM - Executive Director, GOL Salvage Services (GO Salvage) will lead the sponsorship committee for the forthcoming international expo. 3

4 Resurrecting the Indian Energy Sector Mr P K Borthakur chairs 1 st CAB meeting for the Oil & Gas World Expo in Delhi 7 technical sessions and 1 panel discussion outlined proposed for 2-day conference on upstream oil & gas Eleven senior level experts to structure the technical programme Mr P K Borthakur, Director - Offshore, ONGC kicked off the discussions for the forthcoming Oil & Gas World Expo 2014 on July 12 th 2013 with 25 senior level decision makers from the operators and leading contractors from the oil & gas industry. Indian Government aims to reach self- sufficiency by the year 2030 and February 2014 in Mumbai. The board members who volunteered to be the part of technical committee during the meeting have been entrusted with the responsibility to steer the entire programme from conceptualisation to execution of the international conference. The experts have proposed having seven separate sessions on : Low cost resources for enhancing CBM, LNG transportation, Industry stalwarts in discussion during Oil & Gas World Expo 2014 CAB meeting chaired by Mr P K Borthakur, Director - Offshore, ONGC is working towards introducing various reforms and revising policies. The panel unanimously proposed having discussions on the topics that would be of utmost relevance and in tune with the trends that will drive the growth of the Indian oil & gas sector. The board has come up with the theme - Resurgence of the Oil & Gas Industry: Prospects & Challenges for the two-day international conference that will be organised concurrently during Oil & Gas World Expo 2014 scheduled from 10 th to 12 th Shale gas, Investments towards enhancing reserves and Securing low cost supplies, Establishing pipeline networks and Maintenance of assets across the upstream, midstream and downstream of oil and gas value chain. 4 August 2013

The Ministry of Water Resources is setting up a pavilion which will enable the pumps & valves suppliers and manufacturers to interact with the key decision makers through three days of event and get first-hand information about the planned projects and explore business avenues. The Ministry has planned a special session on water conservation envisaged at making judicious use of available resource. Driven by strong infrastructure and industrial growth, demand of pumps has increased manifolds over the past couple of years and India is now the fifth largest pump market globally. The growing demand has given subsequent push to the valves and fittings. 8 Mr A K Jha to Lead EnerTECH World Expo 2014 The Director (Technical) of NTPC confirms to chair the 3 rd CAB meeting and lead the conference and exhibition at the expo The expo is supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy & Solar Energy Society of India Oil and Gas World Expo & SMP World Expo will be organised concurrently during the expo Mr A K Jha Director (Technical) National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) EnerTECH World Expo has found the torchbearer in Mr A K Jha, Director (Technical), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), who has agreed to chair the Central Advisory Board (CAB) for the EnerTECH World Expo 2014 and lead the conference which will be held in Mumbai from February 10 12, Mr Jha joined NTPC in 1977 as a trainee and has nearly five decades of experience in the field of power. This is for the 2 nd time that one of the leading board members of NTPC is leading CHEMTECH s international exhibition & conference for energy. In 2010, Mr I J Kapoor, Director Commercial, NTPC led EnerTECH World Expo 2010 which yielded great response from the professionals from the energy value chain and the allied services providing sectors.
