2 AFRICA SHOWCASE IN THE NORDICS March 2016 Norway, Sweden, Denmark The Nordic countries make up the third largest outbound market in Europe. The travellers are big spenders, take long holidays and have a high level of income. We hold our events in Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen, covering the main hubs of African specialists. We work closely with our airline partners SAA and Kenya Airways to deliver top events. We ve developed a stronger foothold within these markets as a result of our attendance. The events are very well thought through and organised, even down to receiving the final attendee list immediately after the show. Virgin Limited Edition SOUTHERN AFRICA ON SHOW AT ITB BERLIN March 2016 Berlin, Germany On Show hosts the Southern African pavilion at the world s leading travel trade show. Our joint marketing pavilion is in the middle of Hall 20 surrounded by Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia a central and accessible location for European operators and agents looking to do business with Southern Africa. We make exhibiting easy so you can enjoy the show and focus on your business meetings. The German market is Shamwari Group s second biggest and strongest market. It is a balanced market which continues to show growth. ITB proved once again to be a show with good value and quality. Shamwari Group 2 of 6
3 AFRICA SHOWCASE IN THE UK & IRELAND June 2016 England, Ireland, Scotland As Africa s number 1 source market, the UK forms a fundamental part of most international marketing strategies making it an essential showcase for us. Exposure to the Irish market in Dublin complements the events in Edinburgh and London. Our partnership with Atta and buyer facilitation by Orbital Communications proved a winning formula in 2015 for our enhanced roadshow offering. It was a great pleasure participating at the forums in Dublin and Edinburgh, providing us with an opportunity to interface on a larger scale with buyers in these important markets. Malawi Tourism AFRICA SHOWCASE IN SE ASIA July 2016 Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong Our inaugural events in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta received an enthusiastic response. The showcase brings together all relevant parties to help the travel trade understand the destination better, be more knowledgeable about flight routes and learn about hotels and experiences to tailor special itineraries. With active support by the National Department of Tourism, South African Tourism and SAA, new relationships are forged to assist the SE Asian trade promote Africa to their clients. Our countries have to act in solidarity using our combined strength to make our voices heard we are grateful that the National Department of Tourism has identified Indonesia as a strategic market in the 2015/16 financial year. 4 AFRICA SHOWCASE IN RUSSIA August 2016 Russia Since our first roadshow in Russia in 2010, we have seen the market evolve significantly with a strong understanding of what Africa has to offer. Our events in Moscow and St Petersburg have become a good annual tradition. Africa Showcase is the only event of such scale that promotes Africa as a destination to the Russian travel professionals. Russians are very curious about Africa and the possibility of meeting real Africans in person is very important for the Russian trade. As the majority of Russian travel professionals are just beginning to discover Africa, exhibitors who come from Africa will naturally get priority. Seasons in Africa AFRICA SHOWCASE IN NORTH AMERICA in partnership with South African Airways September 2016 US, Canada Our trip to the US and Canada is a highlight for many of our travellers. The Africa Showcase is the largest travel trade event in North America featuring exclusively African suppliers including a product-only portfolio of tourism authorities, hotels and safari lodges. Our partnership with SAA ensures that you meet with top African producers and the quality of the business meetings is productive. Cities for 2016 are to be confirmed. 5 AFRICA SHOWCASE IN MITTELEUROPA October 2016 Germany, Austria We know that Africa is already a huge destination for the German-speaking market, but there is always room for new product offerings. Africa Showcase makes the travel trade s job easier by taking Africa to their doorstep where they can give focused attention at a dedicated African environment. In 2016, the Africa Showcase will feature in Stuttgart, Munich and Vienna. The German trade can be rigid in terms of the products that they sell. The roadshow gives an opportunity for products that may not have been on some agents agendas to be exposed. Zambia Tourism AFRICA SHOWCASE IN AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND November 2017 Australia, New Zealand Our itinerary includes five trade evenings to meet the travel trade, VIP Meetings with key African wholesalers and time for sales calls. For suppliers coming from Africa, this is certainly good coverage of the market in Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. For suppliers based in the region, this itinerary saves you time and expense to see many qualified buyers in one go. Currently this showcase takes place every two years, with the next event confirmed for SAA is delighted to be participating in Africa Showcase in 2015, for the second time in this market.
