Smart In 218, a total of approximately 59,9 people (unique attendees) visited the Auckland Diwali Festival, down 7% from an estimated 64,7 in 217. It is likely that this decrease in attendance occurred because the festival was held during a public holiday which was also a long weekend, a popular time for Aucklander s to go out of town and hence, the pedestrian foot traffic within the Diwali footprint would be much lower than usual. The majority of visitors to the Diwali Festival were Aucklanders (9%), with 8% from other parts of New Zealand and 3% from overseas. ASB Auckland Marathon October Various Victoria Park Although festival attendance was down this, there was an increase in the average length of stay per visitor (up 9% to 4.32 hours) and total spend was also up by 1% (to $1.37m) on the. These findings indicate that visitors were more engaged than last, as more time and money was spent at the 218 Diwali Festival. Source: Major Events, ATEED.
