1 Anchorage Chapter Newsletter November 2015 BY MICHELE LOGAN It is already November and this month is chockfull of holidays Veteran s Day on Wednesday, November 11, and Thanksgiving on November 26, which is also the official kick-off to the Christmas holiday season. Another November date to circle in red is Monday, November 30, If by that date you have signed up and purchased tickets to the APOA Anchorage Chapter Winter Holiday Party, you will be entered into a drawing for a free night s stay (that can be used anytime) at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel and Spa, the location of this year s party on Saturday, December 19, Individual ticket prices remain unchanged from last year at $60 apiece, which covers a superb buffet menu of prime rib, halibut Olympia and some kind of exquisite chicken, a night of socializing and/or dancing, and lots of fabulous door prizes, including guns and travel. The APOA Anchorage Chapter is proud to sponsor the premier holiday party for law enforcement in the State of Alaska each year. If you do not win the early-bird drawing and wish to stay overnight at the hotel, the room rate for the Sheraton during the weekend of the event will be $89, plus applicable tax. The one-stop website link for additional information and to purchase tickets, including tables of eight, as well as hotel room reservations, if desired, is: You can also find the link under EVENTS on the new and revamped APOA statewide website at The early-bird registration winner for the free night s stay will be drawn at our Anchorage Chapter luncheon in December you do not need to be present to win. In the meantime, our next chapter luncheon is Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11:30 at the Golden Corral. You will not want to miss it. Not only have we replenished the door prize coffers with some really neat stuff, our speaker will be Chief Christopher Tolley of the Anchorage Police Department, who took the reins of the APD on October 12. This is your opportunity to hear and meet the new APD Chief in a casual setting. I look forward to seeing you at the November 3rd luncheon!
