2 INTRODUCTION The Rotary Districts & Clubs of New South Wales are pleased to invite you to become a of the Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community. OBJECTIVES In keeping with Rotary s motto of Service Above Self, the acknowledge and celebrate selfless Community Service of NSW Emergency Services Personnel while supporting an important Australian Rotary Health initiative: PhD Scholarship Research into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Emergency Services Personnel. ABOUT THE AWARDS While individual services have specific internal awards, the Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community (RESCA) is the only time all New South Wales Emergency Services personnel, both paid and volunteer, are recognised in a combined awards program. The awards are supported by the Minister for Emergency Services, The Honourable David Elliott MP and all six New South Wales Emergency Service Commissioners. We are very honoured to have His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret d) Governor of New South Wales serve as Vice-Regal Patron of the and The Honourable Mike Baird MP, Premier of New South Wales and the as the Official Ambassador. 4 THE AWARDS PROCESS The are promoted throughout New South Wales via a comprehensive marketing campaign using both traditional and digital media strategies. Emergency Service Personnel will be nominated by colleagues or members of the community. A panel of independent judges will then assess nominees on three key criteria: Community service over and above the call of normal duties which best exemplifies Rotary s motto of Service Above Self (i.e. community involvement when they are not working in their normal roles).
