This course will see students coming away excited about the opportunities available in the travel and tourism industry and the career pathways that are on offer. 10 August 2018 Add Unit Two Days Add 1 day to the Travel & Tourism Taster and gain unit standard Demonstrate knowledge of work roles in tourism Level 2 Credit 3 (Vocational Pathway: Service Industries). $120 pp plus GST for 2 days (or as low as $60 pp + GST if booking an exclusive) 10 August and 17 August 2018 Add Unit Three Days Add 2 days to the Travel & Tourism Taster and gain unit standard Read and comprehend work-related documents in English for a tourism workplace Level 2 Credit 3 (Vocational Pathway: Service Industries) $175 pp plus GST for 3 days (or as low as $90 pp + GST if booking an exclusive) 10 August, 17 August and 24 August 2018 Walt Disney World One Day This very magical tourism operation attracts millions of visitors every year and students will learn about the four theme parks, two water parks and 24 themed resort hotels. Students will learn about the amazing internship opportunities available to them in many areas from Disney characters, to theme park greeters and ride operators. 2 International Flight Attending One Day What does the role of a flight attendant really involve? What age, experience and qualifications do you need? How do airlines recruit flight attendants? 3 Awesome Foursome Four Days This four day option includes the following four courses: - Walt Disney World - Travel & Tourism - Flight Attendant - Cruise and Hotel This action packed four day course is very hands-on and will also have students visiting a hotel, tourism operation or airport. $220 pp plus GST (or as low as $120 pp + GST if booking an exclusive) 3 April 6 April 2018 Awesome Foursome High Altitude with Unit Four Days This four day option includes the following four courses: - Travel & Tourism - Flight Attendant - Cruise & Hotel - Unit Standard Aviation Terminology This action packed four day course is very hands on and will also have students visiting a hotel, tourism operation or airport. Students also complete the unit standard Demonstrate knowledge of introductory aviation terminology Level 2 Credit 2 (Vocational Pathway: Service Industries). $230 pp plus GST (or as low as $120 pp + GST if booking an exclusive) 5 June 8 June 2018 Backstage Pass One Day An action packed one day taster giving the students an opportunity to experience life on campus, gain an introduction into the travel and tourism industry, see exclusively behind the scenes with local operators and put themselves in the shoes of a tourist by experiencing local attractions. A lot of fun and learning, ensuring the students will come away inspired about a career in the travel and tourism industry. This taster includes: - Pathways to travel and tourism - Half day exploring local operators and attractions $60-$100 pp plus GST (depending on included attractions) 8 June 2018
4 Hotel Management TASTER Run in conjunction with the TIA and Novotel Auckland Airport What is it really like working in a hotel? What different roles are available in the industry? How can I get my first job in a hotel? This brand new exciting one day taster will take students on a journey to discover all the exciting career opportunities in the accommodation sector. Based at the Novotel Auckland Airport, students will get a first-hand, behind the scenes look at the hotel industry. Staff members from the hotel will be guest speakers, giving students an insight into the real day to day experience of working in a hotel. The staff will also discuss the different entry level opportunities available and the future career opportunities within the industry. Students will come away excited about the industry, having an understanding of the career possibilities and different terminology used within the industry. The day includes an exciting behind the scenes look at the hotel, demonstrations from different hotel departments and interesting talks from hotel employees who have made a career in the hotel industry. One Day Taster $60 pp plus GST TBA
5 Travel & Tourism Programme - 5 days, 6 credits This programme is designed for any student who wants to gain a valuable insight into the travel and tourism industry and discover the many exciting opportunities that are available. Students will also experience industry speakers with visits to a hotel, travel agent, isite and a local attraction. It includes the following unit standards Level 2 Credit 3 Read and comprehend work-related documents in English for a tourism workplace Level 3 Credit 3 Provide customer service for international visitors $250 pp + GST per day (or as low as $150 pp + GST if booking an exclusive) 9 July 13 July 2018 and 7 Oct 11 Oct 2018 Flight Attending Programme 5 days, 7 credits This exciting 5 day programme is suited to students who are keen to pursue a career in flight attending. Learn what makes this career so unique and discover how no two days are ever the same. Included is an overview of what it takes to become a flight attendant, as well as on board safety, handling emergencies, grooming and customer service. It includes the following unit standards: Level 3 Credit 4 Food hygiene requirements on board an aircraft Level 3 Credit 3 Identify and self-evaluate the demands of a specific role in tourism 7 credits total (4 credits contribute to Vocational Pathway: Service Industries) $250 pp plus GST (or as low as $150 pp + GST if booking an exclusive) 9 July 13 July 2018 Flight Attending Programme 10 days, 11 credits This exciting 10 day option is split over two school holidays and takes the above programme to a new level. It is suited to students who are passionate about tourism and see flight attending as an exciting opportunity not to be missed. This is the most comprehensive holiday programme we offer.
