In March 2009, Boeing opened the Boeing Research and Technology centre in Bangalore to advance aerospace innovation In Bangalore, Honeywell Technology Solutions has set up an engineering facility with over 5,500 engineers, GE's Jack Welch Technology Centre has an extensive research lab with over 3,000 engineers Airbus has opened its own engineering centre in Bangalore, which it hopes to double in size to 400 staff by Skills in computer simulation, modelling and design and a large pool of engineering graduates are key drivers

First Aerospace SEZ at BELGUAM, Karnataka by QUEST Global-300 Acres, 150 crore investment for manufacturing precision engineering goods Tata Advance System, a Tata group company is setting up a manufacturing facility for high-end aerospace and precision engineering system at the SEZ at Adhibatla in Ranga Reddy district in Andhra Pradesh. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the diversified business group, plans to set up a 250-acre special economic zone (SEZ) catering to the aerospace sector near Bangalore International Airport

FICCI initiative :Civil Aviation Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) formed in Aim: Create an unified macro strategy for making India a global civil aviation hub.

The US-India Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) was established in 2007 as a Public - Private Partnership between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), other US Government agencies, US Aviation Companies, and the Government of India. Before India, the US had such ties in the aviation sector only with China In November 2009 The United States Department of Commerce organized it's first Aerospace Supplier Development Trade Mission to India, with a visiting team of several senior ranking US Department of Commerce officials and senior executives of leading aerospace suppliers

In March, 2010, the United States and India established a Civil Aviation Subcommittee under the umbrella of the U.S.-India High Technology Cooperation Group (HTCG). The Civil Aviation Subcommittee of the HTCG meets on a regular basis to identify areas for U.S.-Indian civil aviation cooperation in a manner complementary to the ACP. According to the United States Department of Commerce, the Indian market is particularly promising for U.S. suppliers seeking joint-venture opportunities.

Changing view of India as a strategic partner focused on innovation rather than simply sustenance and maintenance of existing products India is now an epicentre for global ER&D services with a compelling value proposition based on its growing depth and breadth of services, flexible business models, large engineering base and global footprint with greater proximity to customers Som Mittal president NASSCOM

System Integrators Network, Communication Software developers- Simulators, Flow Management ATM automation : For developing Cutting edge technologies in NEXTGEN, SESAR R&D partners- For emerging technologies in ground air system integration Manufacturing, MRO for CNS/ATM equipments As part of global ATC equipments supply chain Training Manpower skill enhancement

The key drivers of Indian aerospace and defence industry are high domestic demand, offset policy, cost advantages, talent base and leveraging IT competitiveness. Indian aerospace companies are trying to evolve as serious players in the global market. The evolution of the Indian aerospace industry is part of a broader industry trend toward supply chain consolidation and the embrace of lean manufacturing. Participation in a joint venture in a larger aerospace and defence market overseas can also bring benefits in terms of economies of scale, movement down the learning curve and also some potential ToT and knowhow from related firms operating in the overseas market concerned

Manufacturing Joint Venture ( Airbus in China) Subcontracting (GE, Rockwell, Honeywell, Airbus, Boeing ) Strategic Partnership ( Boeing, Airbus Risk sharing, Joint Development) Role Model : EUROCAE (The European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment ) Role Model : ATM Knowledge Group UK initiative

The best companies are the best collaborators. The next layers of value creation whether in technology, marketing, biomedicine, or manufacturing are becoming so complex that no single firm or department is going to be able to master them alone. The World is Flat, Thomas L. Friedman Remember One Sky global ATM the way forward
