3 Profile Royal Albert s International Airport is a 1:500 scale fictional airport based in the tiny little island metropolis of Singapore and was founded in RAX serves 116 airlines (12 Seasonal / 15 Codeshare / 2 Charters) flying to 65 countries and some 175 cities, with over 500 daily flights arriving and departing out of the airport. It has two terminals that currently has the total annual handling capacity of 40 million passengers (23 million for T1 and 17 million for T2). It opened its doors to the first commercial flight on 1 September With only one terminal and a short runway, not many flights were operating to the airport at that time. It underwent expansion in late summer of 2011 extending the runway and adding much needed parking bays. A second terminal was added in 2013 to cater to the ever growing international traffic. The name, Royal Albert s International, was given to the airport on the 28th of August 2014 after one of the pioneer and most important person in the development and introduction of the airport Albert Liew. The first few scheduled airlines to operate out of the airport were Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Philippine Airlines in the starting year of The following year saw another three airlines join the RAX family: Austrian Airlines, British Airways and South African Airways.!3

6 Air Traffic Statistics RAX serves more than 100 airlines flying to some 150 cities in about 65 countries and territories worldwide. Every week sees around 2,800 arrivals and departures from RAX, with more than 25 million passengers passing through the airport each year. Passenger Movements 3.19% YoY increase!6

8 ROYALE AIRPORTS GROUP ANNUAL REPORT 2018 NEW AIRLINES & CITY LINKS Air France Cargo the airfreight scene has seen a substantial growth over the years, and it s only a matter of time where new cargo airlines join the RAX family - AF Cargo being no exception. Air Niugini the national carrier of Papua New Guinea enters RAX earlier this year, bringing in fresh Melanesian produce and tourists. All Nippon Airways Cargo ANA s cargo subsidiary enters service at RAX, transporting cargo to/from Osaka, Hong Kong, and Tokyo (Narita). El Al Israel Airlines the Israeli carrier has finally arrived at RAX. With the introduction of the B787 Dreamliner into its fleet, long haul destinations, like RAX, are now feasible.!8

9 Emirates SkyCargo bringing in more transshipment from the Middle-East would be this Emirates-affiliate carrier. Its presence makes the Emirates brand stand out at RAX - be it passenger or cargo carrier. FedEx Express the Memphis-based cargo airline is well known for being the largest airline is terms of freighttons flown and has recently made RAX its next Asian-hub. The airline flies to 10 destinations from RAX utilising the modern Boeing 777 Freighter aircraft. Fiji Airways the Fijian carrier has long been an anticipated carrier to join RAX s long list of airlines. The airline was previously operating as Air Pacific with seasonal flights to the airport, but has since switched its service to a year-round one. Hong Kong Airlines just when we thought we couldn t get enough of Hong Kong, it just keeps on coming! Hong Kong Airlines adds to the myriad of airlines that flies to Hong Kong, and one that flies the A350XWB to RAX.!9

10 Icelandair the Nordic airline has commenced chartered services to RAX from its home base at Reykjavik. The ever so popular Hekla Aurora livery aircraft is utilised on this special route and is one of RAX s longest connecting routes (North-west Europe down to Germany and the Middle-East). Jet Airways with India s exponential growth in the industry, more and more carriers are venturing out to further destinations. Jet Airways becomes the second Indian carrier to operate to RAX. Korean Air Cargo a long awaited addition to the RAX cargo family. Korean Air s cargo subsidiary makes its way to RAX with scheduled cargo flights to Seoul and Ho Chi Minh City. LOT Polish Airlines Central Europe gets an additional connection to RAX with LOT Polish Airlines - offering three weekly flights to Warsaw, the capital of Poland.!10

11 Nepal Airlines though banned in the EU, the Nepalese carrier makes its way to RAX from Kathmandu - seasonally - with its A320 aircraft. Nippon Cargo Airlines yet another Japanese cargo carrier, this time based in Tokyo (Narita). With the introduction of NCA, the cargo traffic between RAX and Japan is further boosted. NokScoot as a joint-venture between Thailand s LCC Nok Air and Singapore s LCC Scoot, NokScoot enters the LCC market at RAX with flights from Bangkok-Don Mueang. It is interesting to see both Scoot and NokScoot gracing the tarmacs at RAX, but only time will tell how long that will last.!11

12 Royal Air Maroc Moroccan flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc, entered RAX earlier on in the year - connecting RAX with the Moroccan city of Casablanca. The airline flies the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to RAX on a seasonal basis. Solaseed Air this small Japanese LCC has bold plans for international expansion, and RAX is fortunate to have been included in these plans. Miyazaki, Japan is now a flight away! TAP Air Portugal Portuguese egg tarts aren t the only take can be found at RAX. This year, RAX welcomed the Portuguese carrier to the airport. The long journey to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, takes over 20 hours and has a stopover in Barcelona. new airlines in 2018 new destinations in 2018!12

16 Promotional Campaigns As usual, RAX Makes promotional campaigns for airlines that either recently joined the RAX family or introduced new equipment on its current routes. Delta s campaign can be seen here, introducing the new Airbus A350XWB operations to RAX.!16

17 Events of 2018 Welcoming the Boeing to RAX! The world s first airline to operate the new stretched version of the Dream)liner was none other than Singapore Airlines! The airline took delivery of the aircraft in June and went straight to crew familiarisation flights to Kuala Lumpur and started scheduled flights to Osaka in July. The following months saw the aircraft roll out to perform flights on longer sectors such as Nagoya and Ho Chi Minh City. There are currently two aircrafts based at RAX, with more expected to enter service within the next few years.!17

18 NON-STOP FLIGHTS OVER THE PACIFIC! RAX - LOS ANGELES (15h15min) RAX - SAN FRANCISCO (15h30min) United Airlines launched new nonstop flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2018, replacing the stopover flights to Hong Kong and Tokyo Narita.!18

19 Opening of the New Terminal 2 On the 30th of September, the new Terminal 2 was officially opened and fully operational by Royale Airports Group (RAG) It has been 2 years since the introduction of Project Sky. It was a project that looked to upgrade the facilities, amenities and equipment used in the airside and landside at RAX. A major overhaul of the existing Terminal 2 and addition of new aerobridges was the main objective. A new cargo centre to cater to the ever growing cargo freight industry was in the drawing blocks but was not accomplished. In the years leading up to the upgrading of T2, a lot of time went into the technical and operational planning of the terminal and its existing operations. The plan was to continue minimal operations during the time of upgrading with minimal disruption as possible. After 2 years of upgrading and tireless planning, the new terminal building stands 4-storeys tall and boast an astounding floor area of 12,600 sqm (floor area in reality) Added amenities includes a new Bus bay for remote stand operations, an improved Baggage Handling System and Area with direct access to aircrafts that are directly in-front of the terminal, new dual gangway aerobridges for more efficient boarding, and new viewing terrace in-between Terminals 1 & 2. The completion of the upgrade would increase RAX s annual capacity to 40 million pax/year. In 2017, RAX saw 19 million pax pass through the airport an increase from 18 million the previous year. Pax movement for this year (2018) is expected to reach 20 million. The new viewing terrace situated between Terminals 1 and 2, providing an unobstructed view of the airport for visitors and travellers alike.!19

20 Future Developments 2019 will be a new year for RAX. Though there may not be major expansions or projects in the works, the airport authority is constantly looking into bringing in new airlines to connect RAX with even more cities and destinations! Before the end of 2018, Royale Airports Group (RAG), has already confirmed the following airlines to start service to RAX next year (2019): New ground handling equipment will also be made available in the new year to accommodate the many aircraft types. A new inflight catering truck will be introduced, which will be able to reach the top deck of an Airbus A380.
