Upon arrival the next day in Dubai, you will be greeted by your Classic Escapes guide and driven to Abu Dhabi. The balance of your day is at leisure to relax and acclimate. (Meals Aloft) DAY 3 ~ ABU DHABI Enjoy a morning at leisure to prepare yourself for your exploration of this exotic part of the world. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE and the largest Emirate. This island city that juts out into the Persian Gulf is the second largest by population in the UAE. Comprising over 87% of the UAE s land mass, Abu Dhabi encompasses 200 islands, oases, vast deserts, mountains, and small pockets of wetlands where you can find mangrove colonies. For those who look, Abu Dhabi has a lot to offer in addition to its striking urban cityscape. You will experience the grandeur of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in the UAE and the 8th largest in the world. This monumental building s design and construction is a statement of unity between the diverse cultures of the Muslim world. Artisans and materials from around the globe were used to create this spectacular space, including the world's largest carpet made in Iran and imported chandeliers from Germany. The architectural flourishes of the mosque are heavily influenced by the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan and the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. The expansive reflective pools are affixed with an innovative lighting system that mimics the phases of the moon and get lighter as the moon becomes full. Afterward, step into the past at the Heritage Village where a traditional Emirati town has been recreated. Here you can journey to the past and experience traditional life in Abu Dhabi before oil revenues altered the landscape, economically and socially. In addition to Bedouin tents, there are reconstructions of palm ('Arish ) and other houses, old fishing villages and traditional Souqs.

This evening, board a traditional double-decker dhow boat that takes you on a cruise around the city; enjoy breathtaking views, traditional Arabic music, and a lavish buffet dinner. OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS OFFERED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST: Morning: Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital ($65 per person): If you wake up feeling refreshed, you may wish to take part in a special visit to the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital. Here, you will get a deep insight in the tradition of falconry with a display of special tools and equipment. The tour includes a display of the registration and the unique passports of the falcons, a visit to the examination room where you will see the precious falcons undergoing feather repair, or manicure and pedicure, you will experience a real-life work surrounded by a variety of different falcons. Afterwards, you will visit the large aviary where falcons are kept and fly free inside and then the highlight is the opportunity to take photos with the majestic falcons sitting on your arm in the beautiful hospital garden. Afternoon: Visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi ($27 per person): This afternoon, visit the newly opened Louvre Abu Dhabi the first museum of its kind in the Arab world: a universal museum that is a cultural beacon, bringing together different cultures to shine fresh light on the shared stories of humanity. A floating dome of light and shade: Located on Saadiyat Island, Pritzker Prize winning French architect Jean Nouvel has designed a museum-city (Arab medina) under a vast silvery dome. Here you can walk through the promenades overlooking the sea beneath the museum s 180-metre diameter dome, composed of almost 8,000 unique metal stars set in a complex geometric pattern. When sunlight filters through, it creates a moving ray of light beneath the dome, conjuring images of the overlapping palm trees in the UAE s oases. Overnight at the SOFITEL ABU DHABI CORNICHE. 4 DAY 4 ~ ABU DHABI/AL AIN/DUBAI This morning, depart Abu Dhabi for Dubai. En route, stop to explore the garden city of Al Ain. One of the worlds oldest permanently inhabited settlements; this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once a vital green oasis on the caravan route. Al Ain s World Heritage locations include its six oases and the archaeological sites of Bida bint Saud, Hafeet and Hili, all testimonies to the human occupation of this desert region dating back to the Neolithic period with vestiges of many prehistoric cultures. Your first stop is the Al Hili Archaeological Park. The park is a public garden and excavation site of a Bronze Age settlement, with discoveries dating back over 4,000 years! Continue on to the central market where locals sell fruits, vegetables and other commodities before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, roam through the Al Ain National Museum, housing artifacts discovered around the city, ancient Arabic manuscripts and royal treasures. Your final stop is the last remaining camel market in the United Arab Emirates, where camels are traded daily and it is possible to choose and buy one at a bargain (Classic Escapes cannot provide customs information regarding the transport of camels back to the United States). Sit back and relax for the remainder of your drive to Dubai, where you will check into your hotel, the luxurious Hyatt Regency Creek Heights, and the balance of your day is at leisure. The Hyatt Regency Creek Heights lies at the crossroads of the bustling downtown and the ancient charm of the old city Dubai. All rooms offer panoramic views either of the Dubai Creek or city skyline, a king to two double beds and air conditioning, while the hotel itself offers a pool and multiple dining options. Overnight at the HYATT REGENCY CREEK HEIGHTS. (B, L) DAY 5 OLD DUBAI This morning, explore the sights, the sounds and the smells of Old Dubai. Your tour begins with drive through the city s new Marina projects, Internet City, and Media City to give you a glimpse of the up and coming area surrounding the Dubai Marina. The world s biggest waterfront development, there are over 200 new exciting leisure and entertainment projects which will shape the future of this modern, yet traditional city. Drive past the Jumeirah mosque, one of the largest and most beautiful mosques in Dubai. A prominent landmark of the city, it was built in the medieval Fatimid tradition and is a spectacular example of modern Islamic architecture. Drive along Jumeirah beach to get a glimpse of Burj Al Arab hotel before continuing to Zabeel Road, passing by the Palace of Sheikh Mohammad, as well as the Rashid Palace, home to the Royal family of Dubai.

5 Make your way to Al Fahidi Fort. The first tower fortification was built in 1787, making it the oldest standing construction in Dubai, which has served as a home for the Dubai Museum since Transfer to a water taxi in the Dubai Creek for stunning views of the city, where ultramodern skyscrapers and humble traditional homes spring from the shoreline. Visit the souk or the market or place where any kind of goods are brought or exchanged. Times have changed and the Dubai Spice Souk has given way to air-conditioned multi-storied shopping malls and items on sale have changed from spices, silks and Ittar (Arabic Perfume) to the latest electronic gizmos, gold and designer apparels. Gold is serious business in this part of the world and the dazzling souk. The gold souk, or gold market, is a truly dazzling sight to behold. It has earned Dubai a reputation for being the 'City of Gold'. The market offers earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets and pendants. At any given time, over 25 tons of gold is on display in Dubai's jeweler shop windows! The balance of your day is at leisure. Overnight at the HYATT REGENCY CREEK HEIGHTS. (B, L) DAY 6 NEW DUBAI Begin your day with a drive to the Palm Islands, three artificial islands, Palm Jumeirah, Deira Island and Palm Jebel Ali, on the Gulf Coast. Creation of the islands started in 2001 and still continues. The Palm Jumeirah is the only one completed and it takes the form of a palm tree, topped by a crescent. Next, enjoy a visit to the iconic Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world. Here you will have the opportunity to participate in the At the Top experience on the 124 th floor. Begin in the reception area on the lower ground level of the Dubai Mall, where you will be entertained and informed by a multimedia presentation that chronicles Dubai s exotic history and the fascinating story of Burj Khalifa. Board the 65-meter-long elevator fora trip that transports you through time, from the earliest days of Dubai to the present. Pause briefly at a unique viewing point for your first close-up view of the soaring Burj Khalifa, seen through a skylight framing its awe-inspiring height. Begin your vertical ascent to the observation deck in a high-speed elevator, travelling at 10 meters per second. As the doors open, floor-to-ceiling glass walls provide a breathtaking unobstructed 360-degree view of the city, the desert and the ocean. Overnight at the HYATT REGENCY CREEK HEIGHTS. (B) Early this afternoon, your immersion into the unique culture of Dubai continues with a visit to the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU). Here you will be treated to a traditional Emirati lunch which can include lamb, fish, and Gahuwa Arabia, lightly roasted Arabica coffee beans ground with saffron and cardamon. A nonprofit institution, SMCCU s motto is Open Doors, Open Minds and it was established in 1998 to increase cultural awareness and sensitivity to remove the misunderstandings that many may have about each other throughout the entire United Arab Emirates. This diversity will be the subject covered on your guided tour of the SMCCU.

6 DAY 7 DUBAI ~ DESERT SAFARI/ BEDOUIN EXPERIENCE The morning is at leisure, so enjoy last minute souvenir shopping, tea drinking and sun bathing. In the afternoon, climb into a rugged 4x4 vehicle to venture along the desert s giant sand dunes, with your final destination being a traditional Bedouin camo. En route, pass camel camps before arriving at the camp in the desert, which is maintained in traditional Arabic style. Savor a wonderful BBQ dinner, be entranced with the lithe movements of a belly dancer and enjoy time at leisure. A henna artist will show you how, for special occasions, the people of this region have their feet and hands painted with delicate colors of henna. If you want, you may even become acquainted with the Bedouin way of transportation riding a camel (watch out, they spit!). Overnight at the HYATT REGENCY CREEK HEIGHTS. 7 OPTIONAL POST-EXTENSION TO OMAN DAY 8~ DUBAI/MUSCAT Your flight this morning takes you to Muscat, to explore the desert jewel of Oman. Begin with the capital city of Muscat between the shadows of the Al Hajjar Mountains and the glimmering Gulf of Oman. This city retains a sense of old-world charm due to the prevalence of uniform traditional low rise structures as opposed to the stratospheric edifices of Dubai. The port is a dominant feature of a city built on trade and where container and cruise ships alike find safe anchorage, the meaning of muscat. This is a city that has seen a rise in tourism in recent years, and the various amenities that one would expect are all present from great eateries to organized sightseeing excursions into the diverse landscape of Oman. You will be met upon arrival at the Muscat International airport and escorted to your hotel, the Radisson Blu, for a short comfort stop. Start your touring with an aromatic coffee at the elegant Kargeen Caffe then proceed to the stately Al Alam Palace, where His Majesty Sultan Qaboos conducts official functions. Visitors are not allowed inside, but the gold and blue façade of the palace in addition to the twin forts of Jalali and Mirani, make for a striking photo opportunity. Experience more of Oman s rich culture and heritage at the private Bait al Zabair, a museum which houses a substantial private collection of Omani artifacts. Walk the Corniche that runs along the water to Muttrah (Old Muscat) where you will find a bustling suq, featuring such wares as rich imported textiles, spices, and handicrafts. The Radisson Blu Hotel is near the Seeb International Airport and the Natural History Museum in the Al Khuwair district of Muscat. All of the 153 rooms have air conditioning and include a safe, cable/satellite channels, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary toiletries and a mini bar. The hotel also features six restaurants and bars, including Olivos Restaurant & Terrace, and the Fontana Health Club is also available on site. Overnight at the RADISSON BLU HOTEL MUSCAT. (B) DAY 9~ MUSCAT Arise early and head to the docks where you will board your boat and embark on a whale watching expedition. Common dolphin, spinner dolphin can be seen frequently leaping from the water. Recent research has revealed that there is a permanent population of humpback whales residing in the waters off of Muscat, so you may witness a breach on this trip. Depending on the season, it is thought that as much as 20 species of cetaceans travel through the waters of Oman. Not every trip guarantees a sighting, but you are sure to enjoy a trip out to sea and enhance your knowledge of nature s most fascinating marine mammals. Return back to the hotel by around 11:30 a.m.

8 Your last stop for the day is the Bait Al Baranda Museum, a place where interactive exhibits help to steep visitors in the history of Muscat that stretches back 750 million years. Dynamic exhibits cover subjects such as the tectonic shifts that created the geology of the area to how early Omani s learned to adapt to this arid unforgiving climate. The unique approach taken by the museum in educating visitors on the Omani experience will leave you with a deep appreciation for the place and its people. Overnight at the RADISSON BLU HOTEL MUSCAT. (B) DAY 10~ MUSCAT/ WADI BANI AUF Climb into your 4x4 vehicle and head out to the town of Nakhl where you will find the Ain A'Thawwarah springs and the imposing fortress that bears the town s name. Along the route you will stop at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Wilayat, the main mosque in Oman. The design reflects a modern approach to Islamic architecture and took six years to finish. The hall and adjacent covered courtyards can accommodate 20, 000 worshipers at once. It is home to the second largest hand-woven rug in the world which took 400 Iranian weavers four years to complete. Enter the Western Hajar Mountains and drive through the ruggedly spectacular Wadi Bani Auf. Here you will pass by picture perfect mountain villages, natural mountain springs and aflaj, man-made channels that direct underground water to villages where it is used for irrigation and domestic purposes. This trip will require stamina as the decent into the wadi is full of hairpin curves and uneven surfaces. Your reward is the postcard perfect Bilad Sayt, a relic of the past with astounding panoramic views of the surrounding mountain scape. Tonight, you camp under the stars in an Omani style tent. Overnight at the VIEW CAMP. (B,D) *Notes: Ladies visiting the mosque are required to cover their head with scarf and not wear shorts, beachwear or sleeveless outfits; they are to be fully covered. Men are also required to be fully covered though short sleeve shirts are allowed. No food or drinks are permitted inside the mosque premises. Slip on shoes are recommended. DAY 11 WADI BANI AUF/NIZWA/WADI AL MADEEN/WAHIBA SANDS Today venture to Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman where you will find one of the country s oldest mosques. Enter the forbidding walls of Nizwa Fort which is a marvel of fortress architecture. Its stout central tower provides a 360-degree sightline across the terrain and was one time affixed with 24 cannon. Within the shadow of the fort lies the Nuzwa Souq which is housed within a reproduction of a traditional arcade. Here you will hear the bantering of buyers and sellers angling for the best deal on an anxious goat. Continue on into the cooler climes of higher elevations as you pass through the Wadi Al Madeen on your way to Jebel Akhdar, the highest peak in Oman at 6,561 feet above sea level. You will pass through a check point on the way. Stop in Jebel Al Akdhar known for its productive fruit orchards, which skirt the mountain slopes in vibrant green terraces.

9 Finish this full day of sightseeing in the undulating expanses of the Wahiba Sands. The dunes of red and white sand reach heights of 650 feet and are home to an astonishing mix of flora and fauna as documented by the Royal Geographical Society on their 1986 expedition here. In this seemingly inhospitable place of shifting sands, life has adapted and thrived, including the nomadic Bedouins. This place of sand and wind, that shifts with every minute, is a photographer s wonderland. Overnight at the DESERT NIGHTS CAMP. (B,D) DAY 12 WAHIBA SANDS/WADI BANI KHALID/MUSCAT Leave the stark beauty of the Whabi Sands and drive to the clear flowing waters of the Wadi Bani Khalid. Here, the constancy of the river supports many plantations and villages that cling to the river s edge. Refreshing pools of bluegreen diaphanous water form along the river s course and are frequented by local Omani s. Drive back to Muscat where you check into your hotel. (B) DAY 13 MUSCAT/DUBAI/USA This morning fly back home via Dubai and Amman, bringing with you mementos and memories of painted deserts and inspiring works of human construction. (Meals Aloft)

CANCELLATIONS, DEVIATIONS & CHANGES TRAVEL INSURANCE: We recommend travel insurance. Travel insurance can provide financial reimbursement should the unexpected occur. CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations are only effective on receipt of written notification. The following per person fees are applicable on this tour: Up to 95 days prior to departure, less $300 handling fee days prior to departure, deposit is forfeited. 84 to 75 days prior to departure, less 50% of tour cost. Less than 75 days prior to departure, we will NOT refund any payments made. These cancellation fees are also in addition to any fees imposed by airlines. CHANGE FEES: Once you reserve your tour, changes are possible subject to availability of air or land space at the time of request. Should there be any change fees imposed by airlines or ground operators, or additional costs incurred due to availability of any space, this cost will be invoiced to you. TRANSPORTATION AIR TRANSPORTATION: International airline reservations can be provided upon request. AIRLINE SEATING: All planes are non-smoking. We can request a seating preference on your behalf, however requested seats cannot be guaranteed. Requests should be made in writing no later than 60 days prior to departure. Bulkhead and/or emergency row seats can only be requested at airport check-in on the day of departure. Boarding passes will only be issued at the airport on the day of departure. You may inquire about seat changes during check in, based on availability and is at the sole discretion of airport staff. FREQUENT FLYER MILEAGE: You may obtain frequent flyer mileage on your flights. Become a member of the mileage program for any of these airlines and present your frequent flyer card at all flight check-ins to obtain credit for your flights. Remember to keep the boarding passes until you receive a statement with the mileage credit. TRANSFERS: Roundtrip airport transfers are included in the tour. BAGGAGE: On average, international flights from the USA allow one piece of checked luggage, each not exceeding 50 pounds; however we always recommend that you check your airline s policy just before departure, as luggage limitations are always subject to change. Despite this weight allowance, we always suggest guests travel light. Also soft-sided duffel bags are ideal for this tour, as they stow best in vehicles and airplanes with limited space. TERMS & CONDITIONS RESPONSIBIITIES: Neither Classic Escapes (the Company) nor any person or agent acting for, through or on behalf of the Company shall be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever arising from any cause whatsoever and without restricting the generality of the aforegoing shall particularly not be responsible for loss or damage arising from any errors or omissions contained in its brochure or other literature, loss or damage caused by delays, sickness, theft, injury or death. In addition, the Company shall have the right at any time at its discretion to cancel any trip or the remainder thereof or make any alteration in route, accommodation, price or other details and, in the event of any trip being rendered impossible, illegal or inadvisable by weather, strike, war, government or interference or any other cause whatsoever, the extra expenses incurred as a result thereof shall be the responsibility of the passenger. PHOTOGRAPHY: The Company reserves the right without further notice to make use of any photograph or film taken on the tour by our photographers without payment or permission. We guarantee that no photographs of a compromising nature will be used. CHANGES TO SCHEDULES: Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules it should be borne in mind that the Company reserves the right and in fact is obliged to occasionally change routes and hotels as dictated by changing conditions. REFUNDS: While the Company uses its best endeavors to ensure that all anticipated accommodation is available as planned, there shall be no claim of any nature whatsoever against the Company for a refund either in the whole or part, if any accommodation or excursion is unavailable and a reasonable alternative is not found. If the guest is unable to use any service provided in the itinerary, then there are no refunds due. AIRLINE CLAUSE: The airlines concerned are not to be held liable for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board their planes or conveyance. The passengers tickets in use by the airline or by other carriers concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and the purchaser of these tickets and/or passengers. DELAYS: We cannot be held liable for any delays or additional costs incurred as a result of airlines not running to schedule. If one of our drivers is unable to take a trip due to illness, etc. we reserve the right to substitute with another driver.
