1 INTEGRATED PROFESSIONAL PILOT PROGRAM Keilir Aviation Academy Grænásbraut Keflavík Iceland Dear Applicant, We are proud that you are considering Keilir Aviation Academy for your training, and we would be delighted to be a stepping-stone in your future career. Our Integrated Professional Pilot Program is designed for students with no or limited previous experience. It is a highly structured and comprehensive program that focuses on you becoming a First Officer with an airline. The duration of the program is approximately 18 months and requires a high level of discipline and motivation. Upon completion you can be certain to have gained the skills and attitude required to succeed as a future airline pilot. The program comprises the following: 198 flight hours More than 750 hours class room instruction MCC on a Boeing 757 full flight simulator Please find attached a quote on our Integrated Professional Pilot Program at Keilir Aviation Academy, the prices stated in this document are subject to change. To be accepted into the course you have to pass a pre-entry test in English, Mathematics and Physics. Furthermore you have to be at least 18 years old, hold an EASA class one medical certificate and be able to present a proof of no criminal record. After the completion of the Integrated Professional Pilot Program you will have gained the permission to fly as a commercial pilot within all EASA countries under the regulations of EASA PART-FCL. 2 1 Program overview The Integrated Professional Pilot Program consists of both theoretical and practical training, designed to help you achieve your dream profession within the shortest period of time. The flight training is composed of five phases with theoretical training taking place simultaneously, and in between, periods of flight training. Graduates of the Integrated Professional Pilot Program at Keilir Aviation Academy will have gained valuable experience of operating modern aircraft in and out of demanding airports under challenging weather conditions. This ensures you will obtain skills and experience valued by airlines and will give you an advantage when applying for jobs. At the beginning of your training you will attend a basic theoretical course aimed at giving you the knowledge required for the first phases of flight training. After the basic course you will attend the ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) theoretical course. ATPL theory consists of 750 hours classroom instruction and comprises 14 subjects. The flight training is divided into five different phases, each with different content but with the same goal - providing you with the fundamentals required in commercial aviation. The program consists of approximately 200 flight hours flown on Diamond DA20 Eclipse, DA40 TDI and DA42 NG aircraft, as well as synthetic flight training devices. 1.1 Phase ONE Within the first days of your training you will be flying for the first time. The first phase of flight training consists of 10 dual flight hours with an experienced flight instructor and is aimed at your first solo flight. 1.2 Phase TWO This phase is a mixture of dual and solo flights. During phase two you will begin the preparation towards your first solo cross-country flight, where you will be following a flight plan between two airports. 1.3 Phase THREE In phase three you will complete the remaining cross-country flying in accordance with Visual Flight Rules (VFR). You will also complete your night qualification, giving you the required skills to operate an aircraft safely at night. During this phase you will mostly be flying solo while under the supervision of an experienced flight instructor. 1.4 Phase FOUR Phase four is designed to train you to be able to operate under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) in weather with limited or no visual outside reference. Keilir Aviation Academy has highly experienced airline pilots to guide you through this phase of your flight training and they will be a valuable resource throughout your training. 1.5 Phase FIVE At the end of your flight training you will complete phase five, the multi-crew co-operation course (MCC), which will qualify you to act as a pilot in a multi-crew environment. 3 your training - teaching you cooperation as well as the flight management skills required to operate in a modern cockpit. 2 Study and payment plan 2.1 Study plan The program consists of theoretical and practical training and is integrated in to a continuous course. The program will as a minimum consist of: ATP(A) theoretical knowledge course 198 flight hours obtained on single-, multi-engine aircraft and synthetic flight training devices. This is including the Multi-crew cooperation course. The training and course schedules are established as full time studies and the student is required to attend all scheduled training activities. The schedule includes weekends and public holidays, day or night as necessary allowing for rest and self-studies as needed. 2.2 Payment Plan The training is to be paid in accordance with the following payment plan: Deposit upon acceptance (non-refundable)* * 2 weeks before course start weeks after course start weeks after course start Total The customer is required at the start of the course to provide a letter from the bank ensuring that sufficient funds for the training are available. * First payment will be ( upon acceptance third party airport pass and background check fee). 4 3 Terms and Conditions 3.1 Prices and Payment Plan The student agrees to the payment plan and schedule as stated in the training agreement. Late payments will result in additional charges and immediate disruption to training and may result in termination of contract in accordance with paragraph 3.6. All prices include VAT at the prevailing rate as stated in the agreement. All courses includes flight training and ground training. Course prices are based on minimum training hours. If the applicant does not fulfil the satisfactory standard at minimum hours, all extra training will be charged according to agreed upon cost factors or the current pricelist if no such cost factors exist. Flight training hours are calculated as block hours. 3.2 Third party fees Fees from third party including but not limited to: medical certificate, housing and fees to the Icelandic Transport Authority are paid directly to the third party and are not included in the training offer. Airport pass and background check application third party fee will be billed on first payment should it be required. 3.3 Training The student is responsible to meet the minimum requirements for the training e.g. age, medical certificate, academic background and all the requirements in the syllabus for the Integrated Professional Pilot Program. The approximate duration of each course will be stated by KAA. Course estimate is neither guaranteed nor binding time frame for the course. Weather, aircraft maintenance, student availability and instructor availability are all contributing factors for the course duration. KAA reserves the right, at any time or times to vary the content of or otherwise alter any course details if such action is deemed required but the course outcome will not change. KAA will provide training materials, practical training and instruction, ground and flight instructors, aircraft and equipment as relevant and appropriate to the nature of the course. The student is required to fulfil the requirements stated in the student handbook published on Keilir Aviation Academy website and any other rules and regulations published by the school and made aware to the student 3.4 Force Majeure KAA shall not be liable for any failure or delay in training, which is caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control. 5 3.5 Insurance All students are insured on KAA aircrafts during flight training. Personal accident insurance, life insurance and loss of license insurance are not included in the agreement. The responsibility of those insurances lies with the student. 3.6 Termination of contract/agreement KAA may determine that the candidate is not suitable to complete the training as a result of student performance and progression during the course. In this case, KAA may terminate the contract/agreement. In this case, KAA will settle the training costs up to the date of termination with the student, theoretical courses are non-refundable. If the student decides to terminate the contract/agreement, the student will settle the training costs up to the date of termination with KAA. Furthermore an administration fee will arise for which the student is accountable. The termination fee is 10% of the total amount in the contract/agreement; 6299 If the student demonstrates attitude, discipline and/or rule violation, the contract can be terminated. This decision is made by the Head of Training in accordance with disciplinary procedures. This will be regarded as the student s termination of the contract/agreement. If the payment plan is not fulfilled, the student cannot continue with the training. This will be regarded as the student s termination of the contract/agreement.
