Due to the fact that the President of the United States George Bush will visit Vienna for the US-EU summit at the same day as we will arrange our excursions (21 st June) we have to foresee specific measures to cope with the required safety arrangements in Vienna: You are asked to always take with you your identity card / passport As there will be security checks in Vienna and on the way back to the airport we will not be able to guarantee the proposed timetables (although the proposed timetables already include some possible delays) Upon recommendation by the Ministry of the Interior the local organisers decided to use public transport for the excursion 3 to TTTech. The transport will be guided and specific information will be available at the conference information desk. Your conference organisers

5 Excursion 2: Modern Aircraft Maintenance - Austrian Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Centre, Schwechat-Airport, Vienna The Aircraft Maintenance Centre provides full technical handling of aircraft at Vienna International Airport, based on international quality standards requirements. A guided tour will take visitors through wheel and brake repair shops, the engine room and hangars, as well as cargo facilities, the general aviation terminal and the fire station at Vienna Airport. This excursion features a presentation of ARC aerospace activities, including: powder technology, PIM; hydrolpulse and re-entry test facilities, development of ceramics; mechanics with acoustic emission, health monitoring; SEM, FIB analytics, nanomodified composites and coatings; Space tribology; and FEEP ion propulsion.
