Asia-Pacific is missing direct connections to turn positive. During August, international regions traffic demonstrated a strong overall increase of 9.6%, whilst each one of the different regions managed to demonstrate good results with the only exception being the region of Asia Pacific. The aforementioned is mainly evident in the area of Eastern/Central Europe, which demonstrated the highest increase of all, both percentage wise (34.2%) and in absolute numbers (+52k pax). Main driver was the additional pax mainly brought on the routes of Warsaw, Bucharest, Kiev, Yerevan & Tbilisi. At a slower yet positive pace, Western Europe demonstrated a healthy 4.5% increase. Middle East continued its uninterrupted performance and demonstrated a very strong increase of 18.1%, benefited mostly by the additional capacity and pax on the routes of Tehran, Beirut, Bahrain, Dubai & Tel Aviv. Traffic to/from N. Africa posted an increase of 4.0%, while North America demonstrated a strong growth at the levels of 26.0%, as a result of the new daily services to EWR by UA and the additional flights brought by DL to JFK. Market Segmentation per region Asia Pacific continuous to be in the red, as a result of the lack of direct services. Scoot s recent announcement of direct flights however, as from next summer, is going to reverse the region s poor performance. Eastern Europe posted the highest increase in market share by 2.4%. North America increased its share by 0.8% Middle East increased by 0.7% Africa s & Asia Pacific s shares presented marginal declines by 0.1% & 0.5% respectively, Western Europe lost 3.3% from its share Asia Pacific 0.1% [0.6%] North America 6.4% [5.6%] Africa 1.5% [1.6%] Segmentation of international traffic by geographical region August 2016 Middle East 10.1% [9.4%] Eastern Europe 13.3% [10.8%] Western Europe 68.7% [72.0%] [August 2015] Page 2
