1 GENERAL REVIEW & PREFLIGHT TEST GUIDE TO MARKING The following logical sequence of steps is provided to assist instructors in the marking process when conducting preflight evaluations for Private and Commercial Pilot Licence candidates. The accuracy of the assessment will depend on the instructor s preparedness and knowledge of the acceptable performance requirements for each flight test item as outlined in the Flight Test Standards. 9 Prior to issuing a letter of recommendation for a flight test, Instructors must ensure students meet minimum prerequisite requirements and have a valid medical in the category required for the type of flight test to be undertaken. It is the responsibility of the primary instructor to ensure students fully complete the training syllabus, including all necessary skill and knowledge requirements. Instructors should then review all applicable documents and licencing prerequisites and check for logbook and PTR accuracy. An appointment must then be made with a Transport Canada Authorized Person for issuance of a licence or rating. 9
