Mehri Constantine 2 is located in a lovely site about 8 kms from Mohamed Boudiaf Airport in Constantine, and about 15 kms from the town center. How to get to the hotels: There are no public transports from the airport but taxis are available. It costs about 5 Euros (around 530 DA) from Constantine Airport to any of the hotels suggested below. If attendees provide their exact arrival time in Constantine to the local organizer, the latter will make the necessary arrangements to drive them to their hotel. How to get to the University A. Mehri Constantine 2: A coach service will be available to drive attendees from the suggested list of hotels below to the University where the Conference will be held. Public transports are available but from the city centre to the Conference venue, it would involve three changes, so not the easiest option.

3 A brand new tramway line is operating between the city centre (Ben Abdelmalek Ramdan stop next to the eponymous stadium) and the Zouaghi Slimane station in the south (5kms away from the airport). PAPERS AND PROGRAMME About 24 Papers will be presented in the following categories: Cataloguing policies and practices History of libraries & collections Collection management Protecting and diffusing Middle East Collections Manuscripts, rare books and documents : describing, cataloguing, preserving them Electronic resources and digitization projects The preliminary programme will be circulated soon. Note to the prospective speakers: Please specify the technical equipment needed. Internet access is available. It would be helpful if we knew in advance if you intend to make use of it and which internet browser you would like to use. Please remember papers cannot exceed 20 minutes minutes are allocated for questions & answers following each paper. 4. CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE FEES 35 Euro for regular participants / 80 Euro for commercial participants / Free for students (upon presentation of valid student ID) The Traditional Conference Dinner is offered to all participants. The cost of the optional excursion on Friday 1 st May 2015 (as well as the lunch) is offered to all participants. Apart from the conference fees all other expenditures are optional. Please indicate on the registration form which activities you wish to participate in.

4 Fees will be collected in Euros, in cash only during the conference registration morning. Cheques are not accepted. 5. VISA REGULATIONS: Those who need letters of invitation to obtain an entrance visa to Algeria should write to the local organizers at their earliest convenience, providing their name and surname, their job title or professional activity, as well as their address. Citizens of some countries can make their way into Algeria without any visa at all. Please, check with your nearest Algerian Consular mission or embassy for more details concerning the visa regulations applying to your citizenship. 6. ACCOMMODATION You should first know that the number of hotels is a little bit limited. With Constantine as the Capital of the Arab Culture, several activities are organized in the city. Consequently, hotel rooms available are going to be limited too. For this reason, participants are invited to book their hotel room very soon. Travel agencies throughout the world may accept to be paid in local currency and book hotel rooms in Constantine. The list of recommended hotels follows. The organisers strongly suggest that all participants stay at the Hotel Ibis as it is in a nice location in the city centre and offers the best value for money. It would also facilitate the organization of the daily group commute to the conference venue. 1. All participants in the MELCom Conference are informed that lunch and dinner will be offered by the university during the three first days of the conference, in addition to the excursion and lunch on May 1 st TRANSPORTS Participants travelling via Houari Boumédiène Algiers Airport are advised that about five (5) flights are available per day between Algiers and Constantine (a distance of 450 kms). Seats on these flights should be booked in advance. Travelling by car from Algiers to Constantine is possible albeit may prove a bit daunting for someone visiting the country for the first time.

6 Several flights are available between France and Constantine. The organisers strongly suggest that participants travel via French airports to join directly Mohamed Boudiaf Airport in Constantine. Airlines operating between Constantine and France (Paris, Marseille, Nice, Lyons, and Mulhouse) are Air Algérie, Aigle Azur and Tassili Airline. Direct flights are also available between Istanbul and Constantine. There are about six (6) direct flights between Istanbul and Constantine with Turkish Airlines and Air Algérie. Promotional fares on airline tickets are often available when tickets are bought in advance. 8. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS Check with your nearest Algerian Consular mission or embassy whether or not you are required to have travel/medical insurance cover when travelling in Algeria. Normally no immunizations are required or needed. Pharmacies are quite widely available. 9. CURRENCY The local currency is the Algerian Dinar (DZD). The change rate as of 05/02/2015 is 1 dollar = 93.3 DZD, 1 euro = 107 DZD, 1 GBP = 143 DZD. Currency exchange is only available at the banks offices. Credit cards (with chips and pin code) are not accepted. There are banks and ATMs on place 1 Novembre, though the bureaus may only take cash and the ATMs may not accept foreign cards. Travellers are required to declare the sum of money in cash they possess when entering and when leaving the country (Customs / airport). 10.
