This full-day tour takes in the scenic highlights of the Cape Peninsula, beginning with the four secluded beaches of Clifton, as well as the sidewalk cafés and bars of trendy Camp s Bay. The next stop is the spectacular coastal suburb of Hout Bay, a former fishing village with a long, sandy beach facing a bay framed by the mountains. Explore the restaurants, shops and markets of Mariner s Wharf, a harbour-front emporium with a distinct maritime ambiance. Depending on whether the road is open, the tour will continue along the breath-taking Chapman s Peak Drive before heading to the Cape of Good Hope to explore the nature reserve, see the Diaz Cross and perhaps even indulge in lunch at a local restaurant. From here you will travel to Simon s Town, famous for its naval military base, and then visit the charming penguin colony at Boulders Beach. 8 JOCK SAFARI LODGE Kruger National Park- South Africa An intimate safari retreat in the world-renowned Kruger National Park KRUGER NATIONAL PARK Renowned the world over, this massive reserve stretches 350 km (220 miles) from north to south and is 60 km (40 miles) in breadth. Home to the Big Five, as well as 510 bird, 147 mammal, 114 reptile, 49 fish and 34 amphibian species, the park is as wild today as the Africa of old. A true nature lover, in 1898 President Paul Kruger managed despite fierce opposition to obtain an area that could be set aside for the purposes of conservation. Known as the Sabie Game Reserve, local police were responsible for protecting game. They were not successful, though, and, in 1902, Major James Stevenson-Hamilton was appointed warden. A long struggle between hunters and Stevenson-Hamilton ensued and it was only in 1926, when the National Parks Act was passed, that Sabie was renamed and became a safe haven for wildlife.
