2 N new lighting existing features connector trail new features or improvements overhead freeway and support columns terrace skate features 100 rain screens terrace vements and additions to I-5 Colonnade Open Space: New lighting will use existing wiring and bases installed during the initial park construction. Rain screens will provide a continuous dry space for people exercising on the steps during rain. A new connector trail will better utilize the existing paths. New and wider terraces will provide additional exercise space and will include simple equipment such as chin-up and dip bars, and sit-up bench. A new skate area will provide bowl and ramp features in a dry unused space. Trail connection through the park of the proposed trail extending south to E. Aloha St. onal improvements for the southern part of the park that are shown on next page: Better surfacing in the Off Leash Area and dog agility course. Improvements and repairs to the Mountain Bike area including new/relocated features to mitigate loss of existing features due to new connector trail to the south. Better, easy grade access from Franklin Ave. E. Finish incomplete sidewalk at the NE corner of Franklin Ave. E. and E. Blaine St. Bicycle and dog themed art.

Dark green is the most basic implementation of the connector trail needing only removal of the gate. The street end, currently being used as a parking lot, has a grade of 14%. Light green shows a potentially ADA compliant route that would keep the trail grade near 5%. Construction of an accessible path would need grading and retaining structures similar to those used for the ADA compliant paths in the I-5 Colonnade Open Space, a city park. Light blue shows possible trail connection to Lakeview Blvd including a new elevated stairway. 9

This section could easily be used for the trail but the 15% grade is rather steep. The light green line shows a possible extension of the trail joining Eastlake Ave. E. at the E. Aloha St. intersection. This is a better location for the entrance as it aligns with the existing crosswalk and is at a higher elevation eliminating the steep climb/descent. This route also has the possibility of being ADA compliant. Red dashed line shows where a fence will be needed to block access to freeway lanes. 11
