15 Area Information Page 2 Rivers and Lakes Lake Iroquois A 229 acre reservoir offers a public beach and public boat access. Fish species include Bullhead, Bass, Perch, Pickerel, and Sunfish. Many enjoy winter recreation including snowmobiling and hockey on the frozen surface. Waterbury Reservoir The Reservoir is the ninth largest body of water in the state of Vermont and was created in the 1930's by the CCC as a flood control project to protect towns and villages along the Winooski River Valley. From late spring to early fall, the Reservoir is maintained to a surface area of 850 acres and has a maximum depth of 100 feet. Winooski River The Winooski River (formely, Onion River) is a tributary of Lake Champlian, approximately 90 miles (145 km) long, in northern Vermont in the United States. Although not Vermont s longest river, it is one of the state s most significant, forming a major valley way from Lake Champlain through the Green Mountains toward (although not connecting in drainage to) the Connecticut River Valley. Huntington River The Huntington River is 18 miles long and drains an area of 67 square miles in Chittenden, Addison, and Washington counties. The river provides opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, and scenery. Skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing Camel s Hump Nordic Ski Area 20 Minutes A unique cross country ski area that offers extensive ski trails and diverse terrain with the unmistakable quality of solitude and wildness that comes from its thoroughly low key approach to skiing. It is one of the last bastions of natural snow skiing in New England and is one of only three areas in North America that prohibit snowboarding.
