HOW IS YOUJUSTLIVEONCE DIFFERENT? Breathtaking adventures and extreme value for money are the hallmarks of a You Just Live Once trip. Our trips are aimed at somethings who prefer a fun, independent, convenient and responsible way to travel. The structure for a great travel experience is in place, but plenty of free time means you can go off and make your own discoveries. What makes us different from other tour operators is that most of our trips are led by us personally. We could easily pay others to lead our trips but we do what we do because we love it. Driven by our dedication, passion and experience we strive to make each tour more exciting and interesting than the last. Whenever it is not possible for us to be on the trips, we only use local leaders. This is our core philosophy, and one that works perfectly. By employing a leader who is local to the area you are travelling through, you benefit from the wealth of his or her first hand knowledge. He knows the best restaurants to eat in, the best food to choose when you re there and how to read the menu! He knows the best time to visit the sites, the best way to get from A to B, the best backstreets to explore, and most importantly how to communicate with everyone else in the country. Fully trained, licensed and fluent in English, your local leader will be the difference between great holiday experience and an exceptional one. Many of your most memorable experiences will occur when you branch out and do your own thing, and we understand that different people have different interests, so we build in free time to make your own discoveries. We aim to cover off the 'must see' places (after all we all have a list of things we want to see in our lives!) but also take time to get off the beaten track and see the weird and wonderful things that you'll be talking about for years. WHAT MAKES THIS TRIP UNIQUE? - Small group of like minded travellers - All major excursions & activities included already - Flexibility and time to do your own thing too - Planned by travellers for travellers - Incomparable value for money - Mix of culture, sightseeing, nature & adventure - We visit the highlights plus go off the beaten track VISITING AMONGST OTHERS: - Antigua - Rio Dulce & Livingston - Chichicastenango - Flores - Quetzaltenango - Tikal - Panajanchel - San Jose - Atitlan - Tortuguero - Iximché - Arenal - Copan Ruinas - Manuel Antonio

WHAT OTHER TRAVELLERS SAID ABOUT YOUJUSTLIVEONCE.COM The itinerary was amazing viewing the best highlights of the amazing Brazil, fantastic. All the excursions were well organised and great, we made some great new friends and we had the time of our life and all of this a whacking good price!! Brazil. What an amazing country! YouJustLiveOnce.com if you want a unique trip. Duncan Borg It was a huge leap of faith for me to entrust YJLO with my long dreamed-about trip to Peru. I had consulted foreign agencies before coming across YJLO, but something struck me as right about this agency, and the staff's enthusiasm for exciting travel is infectious. I went with my gut feeling and trusted them with all my holiday arrangements. They were extremely patient and helpful with all my questions, especially since I did this trip alone. All I can say is that my instinct was 100% correct: the trip was one of the most wonderful things I have done in my life, everything went smoothly, and never once did I feel lost or was forgotten by any local reps. The excursions and activities were one burst of excitement after the other and the standard of the hotels was just right for me (clean, not too many frills, but not cheap hostel stuff either). My experience with YJLO was perfect, and I can honestly recommend YJLO to anyone who loves seeing and exploring the world more closely and with enthusiasm. As soon as I can afford another trip like this, YJLO will be the one I call first! Adrian Cardona Real travelling with a difference. Value for money; active trips for those who like nature and culture, who like to meet new interesting people...you just live once...so grab your backpack and travel. Claudio Bezzina A very well organised fun-packed trip to a well chosen destination offering scenic sights, a great choice of activities and a world of adventure. Fun tour guide and company. A truly memorable experience. Well done and thanks! Jackie Briffa A dream holiday... worth every cent...i hope to travel many times with this group! Adrian Muscat YJLO is the best source for adventurous trips. I wouldn't call them tours because that surely wouldn't do them justice. Robert Vella It was a very memorable experience travelling with Youjustliveonce.com. The itineraries were excellent and the tour guide showed us his experience and preparation in travelling. The trekking and site seeing were impressive. If I went to Slovenia alone, I'm sure that I had missed some magnificent attractions that the tour guide planned for us. The hotels chosen were also comfortable, central and the all the amenities required. This was very value for money holiday and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for an active and enjoyable holiday. Antonella Massa I really want to thank YouJustLiveOnce for their dedication to make this trip an unforgettable one. I met lots of interesting people that were so friendly and willing to help. Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose. I think this quote fits just right for this trip we experienced together. If it was not for all the great people that were on this trip, this holiday would have not been so successful as it was. A. Giordmaina This is the second time I have travelled with YJLO, and it has once again been a pleasure. The itinerary fitted what I wanted to see most in South Morocco, and it followed a logical order. The company was brilliant and it was a very enjoyable trip. YJLO trips are not for people who want everything served on a plate, but for those travellers who are active and enjoy an absorbing, interesting and fun holiday, YJLO is definitely the way to go! Adrian Cardona

ITINERARY - DAY 1 (19 July) GUATEMALA CITY - ANTIGUA A local representative of youjustliveonce.com will greet us at the arrivals lounge of Guatemala City Int Airport and head off to La Antigua where we ll spend the overnight. ITINERARY - DAY 2 (20 July) LA ANTIGUA La Antigua, former colonial capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala, combines 17th and 18th century buildings and ruins with all the modern conveniences. The city was established as Santiago (St James) in 1543 after a mudslide destroyed the former capital. Santiago s history was punctuated by massive earthquakes, followed by rebuilding and reparation, until the earthquake of Santa Marta in 1773 prompted a move to the present capital in Guatemala City. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, Antigua exudes a unique atmosphere of history, intrigue and surprise. Resting in a fertile valley at 1530 m and surrounded by hills and volcanoes, Antigua s climate is likened to eternal spring. After a nice breakfast at our hotel, we will enjoy a guided walking tour visiting the government buildings, churches, convents and houses that have stood the test of time and which have made this charming town famous thanks to their unique architecture. We will visit amongst others the Iglesia de San Francisco, the Cathedral, Central Park and La Merced church. The rest of the day is free. Overnight in La Antigua.

ITINERARY - DAY 3 (21 July) ANTIGUA CHICHICASTENANGO QUETZALTENANGO After breakfast we will head off to Chichicastenango - a small and stucco-white town, lying on the crests of mountaintops at an altitude of 1,965 meters. It is located about 140 km and 2-3 hours drive northwest of Guatemala City and is home to what is surely the most colorful native market in North and Central America, perhaps in all the Americas. The famous handicraft market of Chichicastenango draws not only the K'iche' Maya of the surrounding region, but vendors from all over Guatemala. They represent many of Guatemala's linguistic groups such as Mam, Ixil, Kaqchikel and others, each hawking his or her products in a riotous cacophony of color, dialects and costumes, smoke, and smells. This town in the mountains of Quiche has been, since pre- Hispanic times, one of the largest trading centers in the Maya area. Vendors begin setting up portable booths in the main plaza and adjacent streets of "Chichi" the night before and set-up continues in the early daylight hours. Outstanding among the items offered are textiles, particularly the women's blouses. The manufacture of masks, used by dancers in traditional dances has also made this city famous for woodcarving. Another major attraction in Chichicastenango is the 400-year old church of Santo Tomas which is situated next to the market. Shamans still use it for their rituals, burning incense and candles and in special cases a chicken for the gods. Each of the 18 stairs that lead up to the church stands for one month of the Mayan calendar year. The Mayan calendar has 18 month of 20 days each. In the afternoon, we will transfer to Quetzaltenango (Xela) where we will spend the night.

ITINERARY - DAY 4 (22 July) QUETZALTENANGO AND SURROUNDINGS Quetzaltenango is a colonial town settled by the Conquistadores and surrounded by mist-covered mountains, the Santa Maria volcano and the active Santiaguito volcano. Quetzaltenango is called Xelaju or simply Xela by almost everyone, including its Quiche Maya citizens who still use this original Quiche name for the site where the Spanish conquistadores built their city. Quetzaltenango is also home to the biggest indigenous market in Guatemala. While it is not as well known as the one at Chichi, it is 100% authentic. Today s lunch is included. Today we will also visit the local highland market towns of Almolonga and San Andres Xécul. Almolonga means the place where water springs and is known as the garden of Central America for the fine vegetables it produces, much of which is exported to El Salvador. In San Andres, we will visit among others the yellow church which is probably the most famous church in Central America. In the evening we will transfer to Panajachel where we will spend the night. Panajachel is located in the Guatemalan highlands and provides incredible views to three volcanoes and the Lake Atitlan. The volcanoes, San Pedro, Toliman, and Atitlan set an incredible stage for this town. Panajachel is also the gateway to explore the three indigenous villages around Lake Atitlan. Santiago Atitlan, Santa Cararina Palopo and San Antonio Palopo, all are famous for its women weavers and their typical clothes. Panajachel, or Pana as it is called by many locals, is a town full of interesting sights, sounds, and smells. The town has numerous hotels and is full of small quality restaurants and interesting nightspots.

ITINERARY - DAY 5 (23 July) LAKE ATITLAN Often referred to as the most wonderful lake in the world, Lake Atitlan was formed over 80,000 years ago by a violent volcanic eruption. The caldera now contains 130 km2 of sparkling water encompassed by hills and three towering volcanoes of subsequent birth: Atitlán (3,537 m), Toliman (3,158 m), and San Pedro (3,020 m). Being such a beautiful place, the lake has been home to many different cultures, dating back to over 1000 BC. By 1250 the Tz utujil Maya were established around the lake and by the 1520s they ruled over the whole of the lake area, except for a strip from Panajachel to San Antonio Palopo, which was ruled by the Kaqchikel Maya. In 1524 the Tz utujiles surrendered to the Spanish conquistadors, their Mexican allies and the Kaqchikeles, and began paying tribute to the Spanish crown. When the Kaqchikeles refused to provide ever increasing tributes in gold, the Spanish used their old enemies the Tz utujiles to conquer them. Around the lake are 17 towns and villages, each with their individual characteristics, the cultures and languages still divided between Tz utujiles and Kaqchikeles. Many of the inhabitants still wear their traditional clothing and continue the old way of life that revolved around the lake. In the morning, we will take a short but scenic boat ride across the lake to the village of San Juan La Laguna where we visit the women s textile cooperative to see hand weaving and natural dye process. We will also visit the village of Santiago where we will have lunch and later visit the house where the Maya God Maximon is living. Each year a different "brotherhood" has the privilege of taking care of their God so his location changes. Once with Maximon you may see local shaman performing rituals for local people and if you wish you can ask your guide to help you hire the services of a shaman for you to have a personal ceremony performed. Later we will visit other places of interest related to the spiritualism, beliefs and traditions of the T zutujil Maya. We ll spend the night in Panajanchel.

ITINERARY - DAY 6 (24 July) PANAJACHEL IXIMCHE ANTIGUA After breakfast at our hotel, we ll drive towards Iximché which is the most easily accessible of Guatemala s highland Mayan ceremonial sites. The differences it exhibits from the lowland Mayan sites of Petén (which we ll visit later in the itinerary) make it a very interesting stop. An expert in Mayan culture will give us a guided tour of the ruins and after lunch (included) we ll proceed to Antigua where we will spend the night.

ITINERARY - DAY 7 (25 July) ANTIGUA COPAN RUINAS After breakfast we will leave Antigua and drive towards Copan in Honduras. The trip is expected to take us around 4 hours or more depending on the number of stops we make. Situated just 7 miles away from the Guatemalan border, the town of Copan Ruinas (or Copan as it s more commonly known) is a beautiful little village paved in cobblestone and lined with white adobe buildings with red-tile roofs. An aura of timeless harmony permeates the air and a stay in Copan is appreciated by anyone however the reason why 99% of travellers visit this town are its magnificent Maya ruins, a designated World Heritage Site by UNSECO in Overnight in Copan. ITINERARY - DAY 8 (26 July) COPAN After breakfast we will meet a local Mayan expert who will give us a guided tour of the Copan ruins - known as Xukpi to the Maya. Its rich stone sculptures and intricate hieroglyphs make Copan a feature attraction along "La Ruta Maya". During the reign of its most illustrious king, Waxak Lahun Ubah K'awil (also known as "18 Rabbit"), the royal sculptors of Copan displayed their innovative talents in many stelae that 18 Rabbit commissioned, as illustrated here with Stelae A. Erected in A.D. 731, 18 Rabbit depicts himself as Chak. The Hieroglyphic Stairway includes the longest single glyphic text found at any Maya site. When it was discovered, the blocks were found tumbled down on the ground in disarray. Archaeologists struggled to assemble the blocks in their correct positions. It now appears that the stairway commemorates Copan Rulers 1 through 15 and was built by Smoke Shell. Among other things, it records the death of 18 Rabbit. Later in the day we will visit the Copan Bird Park which cares for rescued and endangered exotic birds which are endemic of the American tropics. We ll also have lunch here (included). Overnight in Copan.

ITINERARY - DAYS 9 11 (27-29 July) COPAN RIO DULCE IZABAL LIVINGSTON FLORES After breakfast we will cross the border back into Guatemala with the destination being Rio Dulce on the coast of the Carribbean. The Rio Dulce (sweet river) runs about 40 kilometers from Lake Izabal before it empties into Amatique Bay at Livingston. There is no heavy industry anywhere along the system of rivers and lakes that make up the Rio Dulce so pollution is non-existent. This automatically makes it an ecological paradise. In fact, it is surrounded by lush tropical rainforest inhabited by hundreds of bird species, monkeys and many other animals not to mention the waters which are rich in fish and also home to rare manatees. During our 2 days 2 nights in Guatemala s different Caribbean we ll also visit Livingston, a charming town unique in Guatemala due to its Garifuna culture. Originally a mix between a native tribe, the Kalipuna's and slaves from Nigeria mixed in the 17th century and conserved their own language, music and religion. Livingston can only be accessed by boats travelling across the bay from Puerto Barrios or down the Rio Dulce from Frontera. Nowadays, four different ethnic groups, Garifuna, Maya Queqchis, Hindu's and Latinos live together peacefully. Because of this multicultural diversity the village is very colorful and fun loving. After breakfast on day 11 we will head north to Flores. The rest of the day will be free to explore the island of Flores which is located on Lake Peten Itza and dates from the 9 th century.

ITINERARY - DAY 12 (30 July) FLORES - YAXHA The morning will be free. After lunchtime we ll head to the shores of the beautiful Yaxhá lagoon, home of Morelett crocodiles, and half-way between Flores and the Belize-Guatemalen Border. Yaxhá is home to a uniqe Maya site situated between two beautiful lakes. The site offers a variety of construction styles and it is famed for its organized street structure and stelae which are influenced by Mexico's Teotituacan. There are several complexes excavated, the most famous being the North Acropolis. This Plaza contains three tall temples with unparalleled views of the surrounding rain forest and lakes. The Plaza of the Shadows and the Astronomical Plaza are both examples of the Mayan ability to chart the skies. Both spider monkeys and howler monkeys inhabit the area. In particular, the howler monkeys add quite an element to the experience of seeing these ruins. So named because of their lion like howl or roar, these animals will be a constant reminder that you are in the jungle, particularly in the afternoon. The climb up many of the temples on site, yields beautiful views of both the lakes and the Rio Azul river that feeds them. We will round off the day by enjoying a drink while witnessing a wonderful sunset from atop the main temple with views stretching over the surrounding rainforest and nearby lake Yaxha. We will then trek back through the jungle with torches as it starts to turn dark perhaps spotting some nocturnal wildlife along the way.

ITINERARY - DAY 13 (31 July) TIKAL GUATEMALA CITY SAN JOSE Day 13 represents one of the main highlights of the trip: Tikal, one of the world's travel wonders and considered by many as one of the most spiritually powerful spots on earth. Tikal was once a wealthy metropolis of 100,000 inhabitants and the seat of power for the great Jaguar clan lords. Today, Tikal attracts archeologists from all around the globe to study its towering pyramids looming out of the thick jungle canopy like stoic sentinels of ancient mysteries. Because of its importance and magnificent combination of nature and archaeological remains, Tikal has been declared a UNESCO Heritage site. The ruins of Tikal include more than 3,000 structures extending over six square miles and including palaces, temples, ceremonial platforms, ball courts, terraces, plazas, avenues and steam baths. The ancient Maya began building Tikal around 600 B.C., and for the next 1500 years the area was an important religious, scientific, and political center. Tikal National Park is not only home to an ancient Mayan City but also to an abundant wildlife. From monkeys to white lipped peccary, brocket deer, coatis, toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots, ocelots; even the seldom jaguar can occasionally be spotted in the surrounding jungle. We ll have a guided tour around the main structures that make up Tikal and later we ll have lunch in the park (included). In the afternoon we will transfer back to Flores from where we will catch a flight south to Guatemala City from where we will connect to another flight to San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica. We will be met by a representative at San Jose international airport who will accompany us to our hotel for the night.

ITINERARY - DAYS (1-2 August) SAN JOSE TORTUGUERO After breakfast, we will transfer from the busy metropolis of San Jose to the tranquil environment of Tortuguero National Park. Known as the Amazon of Costa Rica, the abundant flora and fauna at the National Park is very diverse and impressive. It is a tranquil place - there are no cars, no buses, no horns nor fumes, just the sound of the crashing waves, the birds, and the few people who live around a small village. The park has incredible biological variety, due to the existence within the reserve of eleven different habitats, including rainforest, swamps, beaches, and lagoons. It is located in a tropical climate, is very humid, and receives up to 250 inches (6,400 mm) of rain a year which is why it is in fact a rainforest. Half of the Costa Rican bird species (around 350), 6 species of felines including the jaguar, tapirs, manatees, peccaries, monkeys, sloths, coatis, racoons, river otters, a great diversity of bats, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates live in Tortuguero. During our 2 days in the Tortuguero, we will have two guided wildlife spotting excursions (1 on foot and 1 by boat), we ll visit the Conservation Centre and also the small town. We ll also have ample free time to swim, kayak or just enjoy the beautiful surroundings of our lodge. All meals (incl. lunches and dinners) are included during our stay in Tortuguero.

ITINERARY - DAY 16 (3 August) TORTUGUERO LA FORTUNA After breakfast at the lodge, we ll leave the Tortuguero and head to La Fortuna stopping for lunch on the way. We ll arrive at La Fortuna in the afternoon and the rest of the day will be free. La Fortuna is a small town situated just a few minutes away from Costa Rica's most active volcano, the majestic Arenal! ITINERARY - DAY 17 (4 August) ARENAL After breakfast, our day s adventure will start with a min ride on horseback passing through pastures and woodlands rich in flora and fauna until we reach the start of a canopy trail. Those who are not comfortable on horseback can hike instead. Spread throughout the forested region at the base of the Arenal Volcano, the canopy trail will give us a unique chance to experience the rainforest as never before. A number of sturdy steel cables ranging between 40 and 1,400 ft. in length connect platforms and trees and one can zoom from tree to tree while enjoy excellent views of the Arenal Volcano and the surrounding rainforests, pastures, hillsides and streams. Professional guides accompany us throughout the entire tour and are available to offer individual with anyone who is not confident 100%. After returning for lunch in La Fortuna, we will proceed to Baldi Hot springs, a complex offering 25 pools differing in temperature from 35 degrees Celsius to 65 degrees Celsius. We ll spend the rest of the day relaxing at the Baldi complex and we ll round the day off with a delicious buffet dinner while enjoying beautiful views of the volcano.

ITINERARY - DAYS (5-9 August) ARENAL - MANUEL ANTONIO SAN JOSE In the morning we will drive along Lake Arenal and on to another magical place... Manuel Antonio, the single most popular beach destination in Costa Rica. On the way we will stop by the Tercoles river to observe the crocodiles that live along its banks. Apart from beaches, Manuel Antonio also includes the famous National Park that bears the same name. The Manuel Antonio National Park is the most popular and visited park of Costa Rica. It was created in 1972 and encompasses an area of around 682 hectares of primary and secondary forests. This park is among the most diverse and beautiful places in Costa Rica. Its white sand beaches, mangroves and islands host 109 species of mammals, including the endangered squirrel monkey, titi monkey and the capuchin monkey; 184 species of sponges, crustaceans and fishes. During our stay in Manuel Antonio, we will have the chance to board a deluxe catamaran and cruise around the mysterious islands that lay just offshore, where jagged rock formations and cliffs provide an ideal nesting ground to marine birds and their young. Dolphins native to these waters as well as giant sea turtles and migrating whales are often spotted. During the sailing trip, we will stop in one of the many protected jungle coves to swim. The sea is very rich in tropical fish making it ideal for snorkelling. We will also be able to take a kayaking tour in Isla Damas Estuary or else one can opt for a half day whitewater rafting adventure in the Naranjo River. One of these 2 activities is included in the price already. Needless to say, we ll also have ample free time to explore the beaches, partake in activities such as zip lines, rapelling or just chill out in by the pool at the hotel. After breakfast on day 21, we will drive to San Jose. Once there, we ll take a guided tour which will take in the National Theatre, the Gold museum and sightseeing of San Jose downtown. We ll spend the last night in Central America in a nice hotel in San Jose. The following morning we ll transfer to the airport to fly back home... probably sad but overflowing with great memories and gigabytes of photos

The client accepts that this contract and the terms and conditions may not be in accordance with any other tour regulations that might exist. 20) The information given in the brochure and other literature supplied is given in good faith but no warranty is given that it is correct due to the fact that the brochure is prepared months before the actual trip dates. This makes the contents of the brochure susceptible for changes. 21) No servant, agent or authorized representative of You Just Live Once has authority to commit You Just Live Once to any liability whatsoever and You Just Live Once will not be bound by any statement or representation unless it is in writing and signed by one of the directors. 22) Clients accept that the prices quoted for optional activities are approximate as local prices can and do change. Any of the optional activities listed are not necessarily endorsed or recommended by You Just Live Once. Clients also accept that they undertake any activity at their own risk & their participation is their own decision and does not form any part of their contract with You Just Live Once. You Just Live Once does not take responsibility for cancellations, unreliability of services or safety of operators, agents or contractors. 23) All You Just Live Once travellers are required to fill in a Booking Form prior to their tour commencing. Please note that signing the form is a pre requisite of travelling with You Just Live Once. Disclaimer We have attempted to make the information on the web site and/or brochure as accurate as possible. We will not accept responsibility for any loss, injury or inconvenience sustained by anyone resulting from the provided information. We will not be held responsible for delays caused because clients do not have the required vaccinations/visas for particular countries. It is solely the responsibility of the client to have all the required vaccinations/visas for each country visited on the tour. In accordance with You Just Live Once s Responsible Travel policy, local companies are whenever possible sub-contracted to provide transport, accommodations, excursions and /or optional activities to the travelling group. At the same time it is of note that locally arranged public transport including off readers, taxis, trains, ferries, river craft, buses or coaches might also used at time on tours. Where this is the case the client agrees that the obligation of the company to the client is to select normally competent, independent sub-contractors to provide such transport and any other services related to the trip and in doing so to exercise reasonable care in their selection. The client agrees to also abide by the terms & conditions of all such carriers related to the trip and agrees that You Just Live Once has no responsibility or liability of any nature whatsoever for damage to or loss of property, or injury to, or death of persons due to any act, omission, or negligence of any carrier, hotel, restaurant, bus carrier, tender service, sight-seeing company, or any other persons rendering any of the services or portions of the itinerary. Any likeness or image of you secured or taken on any of our tours may be used by the company without charge in all media for bona fide promotional or marketing purposes such as in brochures, slides, video shows and the internet.
