2 THE ITINERARY Day 1 New Zealand - Los Angeles, California, USA Today depart from Auckland for Los Angeles, USA. Please note: Some flights may fly via Australia. Fly with United Airlines, Delta Airlines or Qantas Airways to name a few (subject to availability). Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Please note: Some flights may arrive early into Los Angeles, and check in at the hotel will not be available until 3pm. Luggage storage and use of common areas will be available for affected customers so they may relax or explore Los Angeles at leisure prior to check in. Start the day in Hollywood with a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard to view the many talented performers who are immortalised in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Grab a photo of the Hollywood Sign in the hills above and then visit the Chinese Theatre, a Hollywood icon known for the celebrity hand and footprints on the pathway at its entrance. After a drive down Sunset Strip, past the hotels and clubs that stars have frequented for decades, arrive at the LA Farmers Market for lunch (not included). After lunch, drive through Beverly Hills en-route to the beach cities of Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Death Valley is a national park of contrasts. Giant sand dunes and rock formations fill a valley flanked by tall mountains and this aptly named park is routinely the hottest place in the United States. You ll even pass by unusual vegetation with unusual names such as the Devil s Cornfield and make a stop at Badwater Basin which at 82m below sea level is the lowest point in the United States. Or you may want to take in one of the moderately paced hikes available within the valley. Afterwards continue onto Kanab, known as Utah s Little Hollywood due to the number of classic western films filmed in the area. Antelope Canyon is the most famous and it lies within the tribal lands of the Navajo Nation, the largest Native American reservation in the country. These upright pillars of rock create a whimsical vista that seems to bend and twist as you stroll along the canyon rim. Travel through the heart of Utah along the Wasatch Mountain Range to the mountain resort town of Park City, known for downhill skiing, the 2002 Olympic Games and the Sundance Film Festival. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER Tour Guide: Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. Tour Leader: An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES Los Angeles The summer dry season normally runs from June - October, clear skies and hot temperatures occur from day to day. Average high temperatures are C with overnight lows about C. During this season, there is essentially no rainfall, and both July and August average less than 1.27 mm of monthly precipitation. Las Vegas The summer months of June - September are very hot, though moderated by extremely low humidity. July is the hottest month, with an average daytime high of 40 C. On average, 134 days per year reach or exceed 32 C. During the peak intensity of summer, overnight lows frequently remain above 27 C. Salt Lake City During the summer, the average temperature is at least 32 C. However, average daytime July humidity is only 22% and very little rainfall is recorded in the summer months. FLIGHTS Seat Selection & Frequent Flyer Points: At TripADeal we do not arrange seat selection. It is important to highlight that some Airlines do not allow preselected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the Airline directly with seating allocation requirements and or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the Airline once you have your flight information. Passport Validity: Customers are required to provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase, or no later than 45 days prior to departure date. Luggage: You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. OTHER Fitness Level Required / Mobility: Our vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair access, so unfortunately our tours are currently not suitable for wheelchair users and those less mobile. Please note: an average level of fitness will be required. To get the most out of your visit to these spectacular national parks, you will want to be comfortable walking up to 1-2 hours at a time on uneven surfaces. If you have any concerns please consult your healthcare provider prior to purchase/travel. Gratuities / Tipping: Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour leader (when available) and driver throughout the tour. The recommended tip for the tour leader and driver is $11 NZD per person per day, which will be collected whilst on tour. Sightseeing: Please note: In the event entrance to a site is affected by changes in operating hours or public holiday closures, your itinerary will be adjusted to ensure you do not miss out on the experience. Shopping: Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved.
