Memo from Chuck Ankney, Purchasing Agent, dated March 27, Quote from Bliss Products and Services dated February 24, Hammock Park a highly-frequented community park and is the site of our various Nature and Hammock Wilderness Camp summer activities. The current playground facilities are limited to a couple of climbing equipment pieces and a set of swings. The scope of this project was to install additional playground equipment to meet the needs of the highusage of this park. The equipment was selected and designed with the natural environment in mind and included a tree "clubhouse" look and feel. A quote was obtained from Bliss Products and Services, Inc. in the amount of $53, based on the Manatee County Schools Bid (# ) pricing. The quote is to furnish and install all of the playground equipment. The remaining budgeted amount will be utilized to purchase

2 the needed safety surfacing, containment boarders, and site amenities. Staff recommends that a contract be awarded to Bliss Products and Services, Inc. as noted above.

The depatt ment researched various manufacturer's equipment and selected Bliss Products and Services, Inc. (Bliss) of Lithia Springs, GA as the supplier best meeting their needs. Lanie Sheets, Parks & Recreation Superintendent, worked with Bliss to develop a design, and to select the necessary equipment for the playground. Bliss was awarded a contract by the School Board of Manatee County (# ) for the supply and/or installation of playground equipment and other site materials. Ms. Sheets requested a quote for the Bliss equipment to be installed at Hammock Park using the School Board of Manatee County contract. The quoted cost was $53, I was asked to review the quote to verify that the pricing was as awarded by the School Board of Manatee County and that the City could piggyback the contract. I have completed the review and found that the pricing is correct as awarded. In addition, the City may piggyback the contract. An award of this work to Bliss will comply with Purchasing Policy. City Staff request that this item be placed on the agenda for the City Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 4, Please let me know if you have any questions or require any other information.
