2 What Is a Scout-O-Rama? Interactive, hands-on "Scouting Experience Display booths, done by Scout Units Show off what your Unit does best Crafts, games, demonstrations Scout skills, gear demos Skits, shows, you name it!

3 Why Should We Participate? Increase visibility of Scouting in your community Recruit new members for your unit Raise money for your unit through ticket sales Networking and seeing what other units are doing with their Scouting programs Earn patches and prizes!

5 Some History Scout-O-Ramas were held in Tacoma every year from 1950 to 1976 UPS Fieldhouse was the first venue Later moved to McChord AFB in the 1970 s Some districts held Scout-O-Ramas in recent years at Cabelas & other locations Now, for a trip down memory lane

6 Scout-O-Rama 1956 Mount Rainier Council's seventh annual Scout Jamboree, held in the College of Puget Sound's Fieldhouse May 4-5, 1956, included more than 100 colorful booths staffed by Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. One particular exhibit featured Scouts posing in uniform with a sombrero-clad donkey in front of a wall decorated with Boys Life magazines.

8 Scout-O-Rama 1956 The Jamboree also had demonstrations of scouting skills presented by various Pierce County troops. Over 5,000 area scouts were in attendance. 138 Boy Scout and Explorer troops 88 Cub Scout troops Ticket sale proceeds aided the purchase of camping equipment, and the development of Camp Hahobas on Kitsap Peninsula, an overnight scout camp. 23 What is The Cost? Units who do not sell tickets pay $25 to host a 10 x10 activity booth $25 fee includes admission for all uniformed Scouts and 4 adult leaders from your unit All others pay $5.00 except children 5 and under Units who sell 100 or more tickets pay no fee Units earn money from ticket sales Fees & ticket money pay for the event costs

24 Ticket Sales Tickets will be sold by Scouts in advance. The unit keeps $2 from every $5 ticket sold Any unit selling 100 or more tickets will have their $25 booth space fee waived. Any Scout selling 10 or more tickets will receive a participant patch. No minimum number of tickets to get commissions

25 Ticket Sale Incentives Scouts who sell 100 or more tickets will qualify for gift cards from the Scout Shop: 10 tickets Scout-O-Rama Patch 100 tickets $20 gift card 250 tickets $50 gift card 500 tickets $100 gift card 1,000 tickets $200 gift card

26 Unit Ticket Incentives For every 500 tickets sold by your unit ($2,500 or more) Your unit will get a $100 gift card No limit, earn as many gift cards as you like.

27 Unit Level Awards President's Award (best overall) People's Choice Award (as voted by attendees) 2nd, 3rd and 4th runner up Participant Ribbons (for all other units)

28 Concession Stand & Food The Council will operate a concession stand, with hot dogs, chips & soda No commercial vendors Units cannot sell food in their booths Demos involving food: must be handled by persons with a food handler card & food permit is required from the County
