1 Volume 21 Month 9 Sept 2015 Next Membership Meeting Sept 2, :00 PM Save the Date! Annual BOC November 21, 2015 Annual Summer Corn Roast Join us Wednesday, September 2, a half hour earlier than usual, at shelter 5, Lakeview Beach, North Shore Drive, Moraine State Park for our annual summer corn roast. The BOC will provide corn on the cob. Bring a covered dish, dessert or beverage to share. Arrive early to bike, walk or enjoy water sports. (shared via by Tammy Veloski) Start making plans now to join us at the annual BOC dinner and silent auction on Saturday, November 21. Friends and family are always welcome. This year we re offering a discount for early reservations/paid tickets. Cost is $15 per paid ticket/reservation prior to October 15 th. Reservations/paid tickets between that date and November 15 th will be available for $18 per person. Extra tickets can be obtained at membership meetings if you would like to take some to sell. Entrée choices include stuffed chicken breasts or stuffed pork chops. Keep in mind that the silent auction is our annual fundraiser. You can help by asking local businesses for donations. Your hairdresser, repairman, insurance man, or local restaurant owner may be willing to donate goods or services. Just ask! By getting the opportunity to potentially increase their customer base those businesses benefit just as much as we do. Official donation request letters are available from the BOC if needed. As always, we still accept gently used items pertaining to outdoor activities for the silent auction but other items are also welcome.
2 Outdoor Tips & Tricks To save space in your picnic cooler, put bottles of water, juice, tea or lemonade in the freezer for a few hours before your trip. Place the bottles in your cooler so they can do double duty as ice packs and provide icy cold refreshment at picnic time. Do you have a tip or advice concerning outdoor activities or gear that you d like to share with others? Please send your ideas to editor@butleroutdoorclub.com. Your Efforts Are Greatly Appreciated! Turn the page to read Moraine State Park s sincere thank you for our work on the Link Overnight Shelters! Have material for the next monthly newsletter? We d love to read about a recent adventure or share plans for an upcoming event. Please submissions to editor@butleroutdoorclub.org 2 weeks prior to month end so the newsletter can be compiled and shared prior to the next membership meeting.
