1 Campaign Finance Information for Special District Designated Election Officials Self-Nomination and Acceptance Forms (Form B-9) Rule 8.1 of the Secretary s Rules Concerning Campaign and Political Finance was recently changed to require the designated election official (DEO) to provide a copy of the self-nomination and acceptance form (also known as Form B-9) to the Secretary of State, rather than the County Clerks. Special district candidates will continue to return their completed self-nomination and acceptance forms to the DEO. Special district designated election officials will then forward a copy of all self-nomination and acceptance forms (and any other documents) to the Colorado Secretary of State. The Secretary of State, in turn, will enter that information into its campaign finance system, TRACER. If the DEO may forward a copy of forms directly to the County Clerk, but is not required to do so. Note: The Secretary of State requires addresses for all candidates, as is the primary method by which our office communicates with and distributes important information to candidates and committees. Please update your self-nomination form to include an address if it does not already include a place for this information. To send self-nomination and acceptance forms to the Secretary of State, please use the following address: Colorado Secretary of State Attn: Elections Division 1700 Broadway Suite 200 Denver, CO Phone: (303) ext Fax: (303) cpfhelp@sos.state.co.us The DEOs can send forms to the Secretary of State by mail, fax, or . If sending forms as an , please submit them as PDF attachments. All campaign finance information in the TRACER system regarding special district candidates is available to the public at If you need to access campaign finance information regarding your candidates, you may do so by following this link. You do not need to be a registered user of the system to access this information Contacting the Campaign Finance Support Team Please contact our Campaign Finance Customer Support Team at (303) ext or cpfhelp@sos.state.co.us with any questions you may have about TRACER or campaign finance in general. If you have questions about Form B-9 or other ballot access procedures, please contact the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) or the Special District Association (SDA). Ballot Access Materials There have been no changes with respect to ballot access forms and procedures. The DEO will continue to certify the ballot order and content directly to the County Clerks. Please contact the appropriate County Clerk and Recorder with questions related to ballot access. There is a roster of Clerks on the next page. DEOs may gain temporary access to the Secretary of State s database of registered voters, in order to verify that a candidate is eligible to run for office, by contacting Lisa Doran at lisa.doran@sos.state.co.us or by phone at (303) ext You may also obtain this information from the appropriate County Clerk and Recorder, as was previously the practice.
