Then he will bring you to your first accommodation, Erindi Private Game Reserve. Accommodation: Erindi Private Game Reserve The lodge was built in the middle of a hectare game park. The rooms are luxuriously furnished, some of the rooms overlook one of the nearby water hole. The restaurant is situated on a hill. From there, you can watch hippos and crocodiles among others. Erindi is home to over animals: from the smallest insect to the largest land mammals and a multitude of rare and endangered species. Erindi Private Game Reserve also offers a fine cuisine, good facilities, and one of the friendliest welcome you could imagine. Translated as a place of water, Erindi is also a pioneer in conservation programs and eco-management models. Optional Activities: PM Game Drive (inclusive); Summer night Game Drive (exclusive) or Wild Leopard Walk (exclusive) or Leopard Project Drive (exclusive) Meals inclusive: Lunch, Dinner (non-alcoholic beverages as well as local spirits, beers, soft drinks and house wines for free) Day 2 The scenic flight over the Otavi mountains will take you to the eastern side of the Etosha National Park: this park is one of Southern Africa's finest and most important Game Reserves. Etosha Game Park was declared a national park in Covering an area of km 2, it is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and one species of fish. Etosha, meaning "Great White Place", is dominated by a massive mineral pan. The Etosha Pan covers around 25 % of the National Park and it was originally a lake fed by the Kunene River. Nowadays, the pan is a large dusty depression of salt which fills only if the rains are heavy and even then only holds water for a short time. This temporary water in the Etosha Pan attracts thousands of wading birds including impressive flocks of flamingos. Accommodation: Mushara Outpost or Onguma Plains Camp Mushara Outpost is located in the middle of the African bush, about 10 km east of the entrance of Lindequist of Etosha National Park. The name of this accommodation comes from the Mushara Oshidonga, a tree that occurs here very often. The eight tented chalets with veranda are made of wood and canvas which are nestled on the banks of an ancient dry river bed known to the locals as an omaramba. The main building is built in the style of an old farm house and radiates a welcoming atmosphere, the ambiance is that of a well lived in house, friendly and extremely comfortable. Particular emphasis is put on personal service and fine cuisine. Onguma Plains Camp is situated within the private Onguma Nature Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park on the East. Plains Camp is situated on the edge of Fisher s Pan, it offers one of the most amazing sunset views - overlooking the beautiful scarceness of the Etosha Pans, decorated only with its wild animals and hundreds of Camel Thorn trees. The main structure resembles a fort with surrounding twelve guest accommodations. The Fort consists of massive raw 1

2 walls, stunning stone cladded features and a huge tower with the views toward Etosha and Fisher's Pan. The Fort will surprise you at every corner; a classical African feel combined with a touch of Moroccan and Indian flavors, characterized by a selection of the most beautiful antique windows and doors. The twelve mini suites, all situated adjacent to the Main Fort extending on both sides to the south and the north, are completely private and about 50 meters apart from one another. Accommodation: Mushara Outpost or Onguma Plains Camp Optional Activities: AM and PM Game Drive in the Etosha National Park (inclusive) Day 4 You leave the semi-arid savannah grassland of the Etosha National Park, flying over the Bwabwata National Park northeast to the Caprivi Strip at the Kwando River. The Caprivi Strip is a narrow strip of land in the far northeast of Namibia, about 400 km long. The German Empire acquired the area in together with Helgoland - from the British in exchange for Zanzibar. It was named after the German chancellor Graf von Caprivi, who signed the contract with the English. During the rainy season, the Caprivi has high rainfall. At the same time, high temperatures predominate, then the weather is often hot and muggy. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for the Caprivi. The Caprivi is the region with the most water in Namibia. The reason for this is not only the rainfall but also a number of major rivers like the Okavango, Kwando and Zambezi, all originating in Angola. The Bwabwata National Park is actually an amalgamation of the Mahango and the Western Caprivi Game Park. It spans km 2 between the Okavango and Kwando rivers. In fact, the whole of the Western Caprivi is a reserve today. The Trans Caprivi highway runs through the park and although no permit is necessary to use the road, there are no fences! The park has elephants, hyenas, hippos, buffaloes, antelopes, lions and leopards. West Caprivi is a birdwatchers paradise, where approximately 339 species of birds have been identified. Accommodation: Susuwe Island Lodge Susuwe Island Lodge is situated on the Kwando River within Bwabwata National Park. The main area is set under a lofty canopy of trees with elevated decks overlooking the Kalahari woodlands and Kwando flood plains. The spacious chalets have a double bedroom, bathroom and lounge area, where the guests can relax. Each unit has a private deck, with spectacular views. Each of these wooden decks has its own plunge pool. Leaving Namibia, you will enter the Chobe National Park, situated at the northwest of Botswana. It is the second largest national park in Botswana and covers more than km 2. Chobe National Park has one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent, its uniqueness in the abundance of wildlife and the true African nature of the region offers a safari experience of a lifetime. The park is divided into four distinctly different eco systems: Serondela with its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River area in the extreme northeast; the Savuti Marsh in the west; the Linyanti Swamps in the northwest and the hot dry hinterland in between. One of the main attractions of Chobe National Park is the large elephant population, currently estimated at around Accommodation: Elephant Valley Lodge (Botswana) Elephant Valley Lodge is a luxury en suite tented lodge situated within the Lehsoma Valley in the Kasane Forest Reserve, which borders Chobe National Park. The Lehsoma Valley has a natural migration path, which offers fantastic game viewing opportunities. The lodge lies beneath a forest of majestic Camel-thorn trees, with the main dining and lounge area slightly raised, providing a fantastic view over a large waterhole on a natural animal migratory route. It is formed where the Okavango River empties onto a swamp in a closed drainage basin in the Kalahari Desert. The Moremi Game Reserve spreads across the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and is the ideal Botswana safari destination. The reserve was named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana people and it was established by the tribe to protect the regions wildlife. Today, it covers nearly 20 % of the Okavango Delta in Botswana and offers areas of dry woodland and savannah next to picturesque floodplains and lagoons. The reserve is a sanctuary for many animals and known for its large herds of plains game such as Buffalo, Zebra and Wildebeest. It is also home to many predators including Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Hyenas and also for the endagered African Wild Dog. Elephant herds numbering in the thousands take refuge in the beautiful Mopane forests in the dry winter months. Since Rhino have been re-introduced, one has high chance to see the Big Five in Botswana. Accommodation: Camp Moremi or Camp Okavango (Botswana) Camp Moremi is situated on the picturesque Xakanaxa Lagoon in eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve. Shaded by giant ebony trees, the magnificent Moremi tree lodge is an elegant elevated accommodation, consisting of a main lounge with a thatch, wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar. Other facilities include a secluded swimming pool with sun deck, thatched boma and elevated viewing hide with unsurpassed views of the Xakanaxa Lagoon. With an area of more than km 2, it is the second largest game reserve in the world. Situated right in the centre of Botswana, this reserve is characterized by vast open plains, saltpans and ancient riverbeds. The Basarwa or San people, have been resident in and around this area for around thousands of years. Originally nomadic hunters and gathers, the lifestyle of the Basarwa has gradually changed with the times and nowadays, they live in settlements situated within the southern half of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Accommodation: Deception Valley Lodge or Haina Kalahari Lodge (Botswana) The Deception Valley Lodge is situated on the border to Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The Kalahari Desert is a dry world of sand and bush, with breathtaking landscapes, an incredible diversity and wealth of wildlife and strangely adapted plants.
