1 BRICKENDON LIBERTY NEWSLETTER Issue No.140 January March Facebook page: Brickendon Liberty around the parish and the lanes were noticeably tidier as a result of this great effort. Other picks will take place in 2018 and will be advertised around the parish so please look out for the notices the more participants the easier the job!! The contents of this Newsletter are for the benefit of residents living in Brickendon Liberty Parish and are not for wider publication without the permission of the Editor. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous 2018 (especially the stalwart group of folk who deliver the Newsletter to every residence in the Parish thank you!) Charitable donations: Following on from our September Fete, Brickendon Liberty has made donations of 500 each to Herts & Essex Air Ambulance and MIND in Mid-Herts. An additional amount of was raised in conjunction with the Farmer s Boy for the Air Ambulance by re-raffling a hamper. The Parish Council co-operated with the Farmer s Boy to provide car parking at the fireworks event on 4 th November and raised almost 90 which, together with a donation of 100 from the pub, was donated to Isobel Hospice. Dates for 2018 FAST FIBRE BROADBAND IS HERE IN THE PARISH BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT AT THE MOMENT FOR ALL OF US!! A BT package is available now in Brickendon village area whereby you could get fibre broadband at an estimated download speed of 60Mb-80Mb with a 54Mb lowest assured download speed (see BT website for details). Brickendon Liberty Parish now own the old red telephone box in Brickendon Lane, so... how should it now be used? The PC already has a few ideas; they could purchase a second defibrillator and install it there; it might be used as a book exchange; BUT the PC would like to hear from local residents with other ideas. These can be ed to our Parish Clerk at clerk@brickendon-liberty.org.uk Whist Drives: (7.30pm start in Fanshaws Room) (No Meeting in January) Feb 15 March 15 April 19 May 17 June 21 July 19 August 16 September 20 October 18 November 15 December 20 Friendly Club: (2.00pm start in Fanshaws Room)Jan 15 Feb 19 March 19 April 16 May 21 June 18 July 16 August 20 September 17 October 15 November 19 December 17 Gardening Club: January 10 th lunch; February 14 th AGM: full details of programme for 2018 will be available after the AGM. Litter Pick: Well done to the group of around 20 parishioners who carried out a successful litter collection on a bright and sunny Sunday in November. Again a huge amount of rubbish was collected from Tennis Courts Following concern regarding the amount of moss growing on the courts, which makes them unsafe, and the need for servicing of the nets and white lines, it was decided to close the courts on 22 November until work can be done to re-furbish both courts. They will be re-opened as soon as possible. Welcome: a very warm welcome to all who have recently moved into this Parish, we hope you will spend many happy years living in Brickendon Liberty.
