16 Improving Active Transportation Finding: The proposed paths would connect the oceanfront to: Virginia Beach, including Town Center Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk Smithfield, Surry Jamestown, Williamsburg Richmond, approx. 135 miles. 16

17 Measure: Amtrak Trains (trains leaving the station daily), Hospitality Location (nearest Amtrak station) Finding: Of all of the stations serving the subject hospitality destinations, the Norfolk station serving Virginia Beach is the only station with only one train per day. 17

18 Improving Rail Access to Williamsburg Note: A considerable number of rail origins in NC and SC. Finding: The lack of time coordination between a) Richmond trains serving Williamsburg, and b) Richmond trains serving the South makes it difficult for people to make rail trips between Williamsburg and the South.
