II PREPARED BY: RECOMMENDED BY: / K. W. BAlN CITY CLERK V. A. COTE GENERAL MANAGER OF FINANCE AND CORPORATE SERVICES
City Clerk Corporation of the City of London I m writing on behalf of the London Hyde Park Rotary club. In the summer of 2004 the City of London developed a walking trail in the village of Hyde Park, west of Gainsborough road, running along the old CP rail line. The London Hyde Park Rotary club sponsored a program in the Hyde Park community to install sixteen park benches along the walking trail. Eight have been installed with eight more to be installed this spring. This project was developed in conjunction with the City of London Parks and Recreation Department. In May of 2005 three local garden centres with guidance from the Landscape Design class of Fanshawe College will install landscaping at three significant entrances to the walkway. It is the plan of the London Hyde Park Rotary club, and the community, that this walkway will link the village of Hyde Park with other established walkways within the City of London. The London Hyde Park Rotary club is requesting from the City of London that this walkway be named the London Hyde Park Rotary Link in recognition of the contribution our club has made to the development of this walkway. The London Hyde Park Rotary club has the full support of the Hyde Park Business Association as well as the Hyde Park Lions club. Could you please give this your utmost consideration. Please refer any correspondence to: Steve Teske 910 Gainsborough Rd. London, On. N6G5B (fax) steve.teske@svmpatico.ca Yours Sincerelv
Hyde Park Business Association April 9, 2005 City of London To Whom It May Concern RE: Hyde Park Rotary Club - Walking Trail in Hyde Park Project This letter confirms the support of the Hyde Park Business Association for the proposed name of the new walking trail project the Hyde Park Rotary Club has completed. Given the efforts the Hyde Park Rotary Club put into this project we would like to see the trail named The London Hyde Park Rotary Link. Sincerely, Hyde Park Business Association Caroiine M. Hancock Secretary
Hyde Park Br District Lions 1225 Wonderland Rd, P.O. Box 8072 London Ontario N6G 2BO To the City of London The Hyde Park & District Lions club supports Hyde Park Rotary's club project to create the London Hyde Park Rotary Link along the old CPR rail line. Our club feels that this "link" would be a valuable asset to London and should get the recognition it deserves. Our club has contributed financially to this link by purchasing one of the benches. Lion Gord Lane President
Bain. Kevin From: Sent: To: Subject: Steve Teske Wednesday, June 08, PM Bain, Kevin London Hyde Park Rotary Link In response to your requests, the Rotary Club of Hyde Park has committed to a bi-yearly clean up of the trail and will provide maintenance to the gardens. The club is proceeding with a grand opening ceremony Thursday evening June 16. The club will not recognize the trail as the London Hyde Park Rotary Link at that time; the club will be honouring the merchants and residents who sponsored a park bench for the trail. There will be cake, refreshments, entertainment, acknowledgments and special guests. Once the City of London has officially named the trail, the club will proceed with the gardens and signage for the trail; all of which will be at the expense of the London Hyde Park Rotary Club. The proposed gardens and signage will be subject to the discretion and scrutiny of the City. Steve Teske 1
