4 Blakes Crossing 7 Elaine in for the long haul 31 years may have come and gone but Lendlease s Elaine Reade still gets excited about every new customer she meets. Since joining the company in September 1985, Elaine has worked at Golden Grove (17 years), Mawson Lakes (8 years) and Blakes Crossing (5 years). We just love her dedication, professionalism and tenacity. Ms Reade says one of the best parts to her job is speaking with people embarking on buying life s most important purchase, a block of land and a house. I love helping them to attain the best they can, she said. I think Blakes Crossing is at a wonderful stage at the moment it has a lot on the ground and a lot to offer, it is very exciting. When you move into a Lendlease development, it has a strong community focus, you not only move into a new home, you will move into a new community. All Lendlease communities provide a convenient lifestyle, affordable living, the latest in home designs and a place for you and your family to belong. Whichever development I work in I think it is the best. I suppose it is a bit of ownership of where you are and giving the best you can to the area and the people who live or are about to live in our development. It s kids, it s family, it s your neighbours, it s friendship, connections that are made within the community that can last for a lifetime it helps you flourish and grow, says Brenda Kovaleff. Meet Brenda and Andy Kovaleff, residents of Blakes Crossing and empty nesters (as we like to call them as their kids flew the coup many years ago). Like many grandparents, it was paramount for them to keep their family nucleus together, so they made the decision to move house to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Leaving our Largs Bay large family home, with a huge garden that we had to continually maintain was not a difficult decision. We have downsized into a wonderful Oakford display home at Blakes Crossing and we could not be happier Andy says. We help our neighbour out every day who has three very active girls, do the school run, collect our grandchildren from school some days, babysit and we get to enjoy our special time with our grandchildren. We have made many new friends in this vibrant community; we are members of the Blakes Crossing Ms Reade said her career highlights included meeting colleagues in different states as well as work trips throughout Australia and even to New Zealand and Scotland. It doesn t seem like 31 years, she said. The time has gone so fast and each year has been a celebration in its own way. There is never a dull moment. Damien Collins, Regional Development Manager of Lendlease Communities in South Australia, said Ms Reade s loyalty and commitment to Lendlease was admirable. Elaine s devotion to her job and her sales figures speak for themselves, he said. She sets a fine example and is a real role model to those in the industry. Why these empty nesters will never look back Empty nesters Brenda and Andy Kovaleff. friendship group who meet once a month to play cards, have a chat, but mostly laugh at the constant babble of funny jokes. We are members of Neighbourhood Watch and most recently, Brenda has become an inaugural member of the Community Garden group and is the administrator of the local NABO, which is a neighbourhood social network aimed at the majority of Australians who are not connected with their neighbours. We are so happy to have made the move to Blakes Crossing, we have never looked back says Brenda. Blakes Crossing parents enjoy community spirit Lendlease is working closely with Playgroup SA to give new parents who reside in Blakes Crossing a chance to connect by holding weekly Parents and Bubs sessions in the landmark community. Blakes Crossing s new Parents and Bubs group is a safe and fun environment for residents and their little ones, and encourages healthy relationships and social skills. Sonia Ziaee, who manages the program, said the initiative was a great way to foster a sense of community. Sonia who lives in Blakes Crossing was keen to get the program started and with the assistance from Lendlease, it has been a hit with the community. It provides an opportunity for our family and others to come together and get to know each other. The kids look forward to it each week. Sonia said. Garden maintenance: tips for a safe summer As summer is approaching and the weather is warming up, we are asking residents to keep up maintenance on their houses and blocks, particularly paying attention to slashing any overgrown vegetation or long grass and minimise weeds. This will reduce the risk of fire and the presence of snakes over the hot summer months. Also remember to focus on front yard and verge presentation and you might win a Proud of My Patch award. Interested Blakes Crossing parents can join the group each Friday at Blakes Crossing Sales and Information Centre for two hours, from 9.30am 11.30am. Food and drinks also provided. Nominate for a Proud Of My Patch award The Proud Of My Patch initiative continues at Blakes Crossing and we want to remind you to nominate your neighbours, or nominate yourself. We are looking for homes that have shown outstanding work on their front yard and verge presentation to go into the running for a $100 Bunnings voucher. To enter, or fill out one of the nomination forms in the Sales and Information Centre. Prizes are awarded monthly and winners will be notified by mail.

11 Blakes Crossing 21 Aboriginal artwork on the Adventure Park INVITE YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS TO MOVE TO BLAKES CROSSING... Images courtesy of Scott Rathman. The Wall, a vision for hope, unity and honour is a wonderful new initiative by the year 6/7 students from Blakes Crossing Christian College. Whilst the students were studying the importance of aboriginal art, the students noted that there was not a presence of Aboriginal art within the public space at Blakes Crossing. Kelly Adams, the schools art teacher reached out to Lendlease with the students ideas to change this and proposed the perfect location. The recently opened Adventure Playground and the concrete retaining wall in this space was seen as the perfect canvas. The wall is seen directly from their classroom and school grounds, but a place where everyone from Blakes Crossing can also enjoy it. Lendlease loved the idea. Local, well-known Aboriginal artist Scott Rathman was delighted to be commissioned. Since July, he has been holding weekly workshops with the students and the art piece is taking shape. Scott and the students will transform the wall in mid-october. Scott Rathman is a South Australian artist who is proud of his Aboriginal past which is represented in his work today and seen on many walls around the City of Playford and in Gawler. Scott s family is a descendant of the Aranda people of Central Australia. We would like to thank Anglicare SA, City of Playford, Government of South Australia and Playford Communities for Children and of course Blakes Crossing Christian College students and teachers for their support of this project and helping to make this happen. Refer a friend Hey Blakes Crossing residents! We invite you to help spread the great news... Blakes Crossing is the number ONE development in South Australia. We are very proud of this achievement and this would not have been possible without you, our wonderful residents. To help celebrate, every time you refer a friend who buys and settles on a block of land in the Lendlease Blakes Crossing community, you will both receive a $500 gift voucher to spend on whatever you want. The more friends and family you refer, the more $500 gift cards you can earn *. From 1 September March *T&C s apply.

The new neighborhood oval three quarters the size of Adelaide Oval has 12,000m 2 of newly laid lawn, ready for the community to enjoy. The adjacent Adventure Playground integrates play elements with a major fitness station so parents can exercise while they watch the kids play. A walking track around the oval creates an outdoor gym, linking to more equipment along the shared path in Blue Tongue Linear Reserve. Lendlease s Regional Development Manager for the Communities business in South Australia, Damien Collins, said local interest in the new facilities had been high. The playground, designed and built by Outside Ideas includes a giant birds nest swing, three in-ground trampolines, and all-abilities carousel, flying fox, musical orbs and climbing wall. The design creates a balance between nature and traditional elements that provide a range of play and sensory experiences. Timber logs, scrambling boulders and balance beams are combined with shelter, seating and BBQ facilities, lawn areas for picnics and shade sails for ample sun protection.
