1 The Site Map of area A stunning site located in the heart of Edinburgh. Raeburn House (formerly Somerset Cottage) was originally built in 83 as one of three villas. It is the only one which still remains. The historic sports field which predates the neighbouring Comely Bank and Fettes developments, is home to the Edinburgh Academical Football and Cricket Clubs. The EA Football Club, formed in 857, is the oldest rugby football club in Scotland and the second oldest in the world. In 870 the first international rugby match was played here, between Scotland and England. The Club House facilitates these activities as well as those of the former pupils and other members of the Edinburgh Academical Club itself. 2 Previous Consultation - Overview Summary: Technical Summary: National sporting venue of excellence. High class hotel, restaurant and bar facilities. Rejuvenating Somerset Cottage (Raeburn House) in a comprehensive, stylish development. Sporting and social destination within the city, enhancing the Stockbridge area. Centre for sporting excellence; appropriate ambitious architectural design. The design adopts the same functional principles as the consented scheme but provides a new appropriate architectural treatment. The design will have the same relationship to adjoining properties as the current consent; size, height, scale and mass etc. The area of hotel public bar shall not exceed 4m. The operating capacity of the entire hotel shall be a maximum of 33 people and the clubhouse a maximum of 50 people. - Accommodation: 50 bedrooms - Car Parking: spaces The current planning consent establishes the uses: hotel, bar, restaurant and sports pavilion. The current Planning Consent and Licensing permission establishes the size and numbers for the bar, hotel, sports pavilion and function rooms.
