2 Day 1 Monday, May 11: Quebec City, Canada Itinerary All participants will meet for introductions and to attend an extensive briefing covering the general procedures of our journey. Afterwards, we ll enjoy a welcome cocktail and dinner. Hotel: Chateau Frontenac Welcome cocktail and Dinner included Day 2 Tuesday, May 12: Quebec City Kuujjuaq, Canada Kangerlussuaq, Greenland NM We ll fly over the immense forests and numerous lakes of Labrador on our way to Kuujjuaq for a technical stop. Then continue over southern Greenland s beautiful scenery before landing at Kangerlussuaq. Because we will be approaching the Arctic Circle and the land of the midnight sun, we will have an astonishing 20 hours of daylight! Hotel: Hotel Kangerlussuaq Day 3 Wednesday, May 13: Kangerlussuaq Reykjavik, Iceland 730 NM Fly over ice-covered Greenland and then do our second water crossing. Upon arrival, we ll transfer to the Hotel Borg where we will enjoy luxury accommodations in the very center of Reykjavik. The Hotel Borg overlooks the beautiful square of Austurvöllur, and is situated across from Althingi, the Icelandic parliament and the cathedral. After dinner at the hotel, you may want to venture on your own to experience the local nightlife. Hotel: Hotel Borg Day 4 Thursday, May 14: Reykjavik Enjoy a full day of sightseeing with a visit to the famous Geysir hot spring area with numerous hot springs and geysers - one of them erupts every few minutes; take a look at the magnificent waterfall Gullfoss; visit the volcanic crater Kerid and the greenhouse village Hveragerdi; drive across Gjabakkavegur Pass to the Thingvellir National Park, a unique place of beauty, with its interesting geology and history; then cross Mosfellsheidi Heath to Reykjavik; visit the Blue Lagoon. It is certainly a great experience that is not to be missed. We will see volcanic craters, geysers, waterfalls and the national park Thingvellir, which is Iceland s national treasure and one of its most beautiful spots. 3 Day 5 Friday, May 15: Reykjavik Stavanger, Norway Paris, France NM Fly to Norway for our next stop, Stavanger, to refuel and have lunch. Our flight continues to Pontoise, a small airport 30mn from downtown Paris. This selected airport is out of the heavy air traffic with inexpensive landing fees. Upon arrival, transfer to our deluxe hotel located in the 8 th District near the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees. Enjoy a dinner in a typical brasserie facing the Eiffel Tower. Hotel: Plaza Athenee Day 6 Saturday, May 16: Paris An introduction to Paris for first time visitors with a half-day city tour of the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, St. Germain des pres, Notre Dame, Le Marais is on schedule in the morning. In addition, outside the hotel you have the prestigious Avenue Montaigne as well as the Champs Elysees for great shopping. Tonight we ll enjoy a dinner river cruise and discover Paris by night. Hotel: Plaza Athenee Day 7 Sunday, May 17: Paris Today is at leisure to enjoy the city. Optional tours as Louvre Museum, Orsay Museum, Cooking Class, Wine tasting can be some optional activities we can arrange for you in advance. Hotel: Plaza Athenee Day 8 Monday, May 18: Paris Gibraltar Marrakech, Morocco NM Fly to Marrakech in North Africa. There will be a lunch stop in Gibraltar (weather permitting). After clearing customs in Marrakech, transfer to our beautiful hotel, La Mamounia, located on the outskirts of the city. Known as the Red City, Marrakech is one of the world s most mysterious and fascinating cities. As the second of the four Imperial Cities of Morocco, it is at the crossroads of Arab, Berber and Sudanese civilizations. Hotel: La Mamounia Day 9 Tuesday, May 19: Marrakech Enjoy a half-day private tour with our local guide to discover discover the highlights of Marrakech including Majorelle Garden, the Mellah (Jewish quarter), La Bahia Palace and the souks in the Medina. This afternoon is at leisure to relax in your beautiful hotel. Dinner tonight is at a beautiful Riad (typical home). 4 Day 10 Wednesday, May 20: Marrakech Today is at leisure to relax or explore on your own. Hotel: La Mamounia Day 11 Thursday, May 21: Marrakech San Sebastian, Spain 765 NM Fly to San Sebastian. The Hotel Maria Cristina is located in San Sebastian s historic city center overlooking the Urumea River. While surrounded by gardens and promenades, it is just a short walk from the white sandy beaches. Hotel: Hotel Maria Cristina Day 12 Friday, May 22: San Sebastian After a scenic drive to Bilbao, we will visit the Guggenheim Museum. The Guggenheim Bilbao s collection spans from the mid-20th century to the present day, concentrating on postwar painting and sculpture in America and Europe. The collection includes key works by significant artists including Anselm Kiefer, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Gilbert & George, and Richard Serra. Hotel: Hotel Maria Cristina Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included Day 13 Saturday, May 23: San Sebastian Manchester, England 600 NM Fly to Manchester and transfer to Peckforton Castle an enchanting hotel in the heart of Cheshire. Built in the early 19th century, Peckforton is the only intact medieval-style castle in England. Over the years it has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood and Doctor Who. Hotel: Peckforton Castle Day 14 Sunday, May 24: Manchester Today is at leisure to relax or indulge in some of the optional activities available at the hotel. Choose from falconry, archery, mountain bikes, segways, and laser clay shooting. For the more adventurous, the Land Rover Experience is available for an off road adventure in the heart of the beautiful Cheshire countryside. 5 Day 15 Monday, May 25: Manchester Enjoy another day at leisure. Hotel: Peckforton Castle Day 16 Tuesday, May 26: Manchester Stornoway, Scotland Reykjavik, Iceland NM After breakfast and an in-depth briefing, we will launch for our over-water crossing to Iceland. There will be a stop in Stornoway for lunch and to refuel. Hotel: Natura Day 17 Wednesday, May 27: Reykjavik Nuuk, Greenland Goose Bay, Canada NM After breakfast and another in-depth briefing, we will head for Goose Bay with a stop in Nuuk for lunch and to refuel before taking our final over-water crossing and touching down on the North American continent in Canada. Hotel: Hotel North Day 18 Thursday, May 28: Goose Bay Home After breakfast and a briefing, we will fly our separate ways as we complete our journey home. Breakfast included NOTES: Because of the numerous climate zones we will be crossing and the complex logistics required for this journey, all participants should be ready for some last minute changes. On every Flying Day, lunch is not included. For safety we recommend you order a lunch box at the hotel on the day before departure which will be charged to your room. Do not eat at the airports! There is no tour on the schedule of each day of arrival so you can relax at your beautiful hotels. Our half-day city tours are normally scheduled for the morning after our arrival at a destination. All dinners while on this tour are a la carte. A Pilots Meeting will be scheduled the evening prior to the next day s flight for each destination. Hotels may change within same category until two weeks before departure or during the tour if a delay makes the hotels no longer available. 7 Terms & Conditions Our land program includes: Presence of an Air Journey tour leader who will facilitate clearances, Immigration, refueling, flight planning, and provide help with any difficulty that might arise Full-time services of a professional Air Journey guide and local experts Lodging: for 18 days, 17 nights Meals: All breakfasts and most lunches and dinners Wine selected by Air journey is included with dinner. All other beverages are not included. Tours and admission to all planned group sightseeing All service charges and taxes Round trip transfers between airport and hotel Customs expediting Customs and Immigration forms (filled by Air Journey when possible) Briefing prior to every flight covering all aspects of the flight Our land program does not include: Travel Insurance (available, call us for details) Airport departure taxes Beverages except as noted above Personal expenses such as laundry, room service, communication charges and other incidentals Please note that hotel accommodations and sightseeing are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Air Journey reserves the right to amend the order of sightseeing as necessary. Every effort will be made to operate tours as planned but alterations may occur after the final itinerary has been issued. Passports are mandatory for the Journey. Air Journey has quoted this itinerary with a minimum participation of 5 airplanes. The Registration fee includes: Extensive Navigation log (airports, route, frequencies, information of airspace, nav-aids, reporting points, international flight plan) tailored for each aircraft; Flight plans and eapis manifest (departure and arrival) filed on your behalf; Pilot briefing prior to each day s flight; Weather website with constant updates showing TAF, METAR, Wind Aloft, prognostic forecast and review; Fuel availability confirmed along the route of flight; Jeppesen navigation charts and approach plates; Flight bag and collared, cotton shirt for the pilot with his name and aircraft tail number embroidered on the upper front. Shirts are available for passengers and crew at an additional cost. Cancellation, refunds: a) Cancellation by the client: Is always required in writing and is subject to the following schedule of dates, whereby some or all moneys paid will be retained: i) Given outside of 90 days of departure: AJ retains $500 per person and plane registration fee ii) Between 90 and 60 days of departure: AJ retains 50% of tour cost and plane registration fee iii) Between 59 and 45 days of departure: AJ retains 75% of tour cost and plane registration fee iv) Less than 45 days or no show of departure: AJ retains 100% of tour cost and plane registration fee b) Cancellation by AJ: Should AJ cancel the tour after deposits have been received due to fewer than the minimum participants required, the full deposit will be refunded. Should AJ cancel the tour at any time due to factors beyond their control (including war, flood, force of nature, riot, civil action), they will refund the client whatever portion of moneys are reimbursed by ground operators and accommodation suppliers. Survival equipment is available for rental on a daily basis and will be waiting for you at our departure point. Contact us for details. Life vests are mandatory. A life raft is recommended. Travel and Cancellation Insurance Travel and Cancellation Insurance is strongly recommended and not included in the package but it can be purchased from Air Journey for approximately 6% of the cost of the Journey.
