2 OUR ECONOMY A GREEN VISION FOR SURREY Greens have a vision for Surrey that s very different from the other poitica parties. The Government sees Surrey as an extension of London. They want London to keep growing, which means we ose our communities, our distinctiveness, and our unique Surrey countryside, to make way for housing and transport infrastructure. We need an economy that works for everyone at the oca eve - providing decent jobs for Surrey residents, and transport that s accessibe for a. Loca shops shoud take pride of pace on our High Streets, not be squeezed out by high business rates and high street chains. One of the most important services Surrey County Counci provides is caring for peope. Yet the Government has sashed funding for care. We re fighting to make sure the Government prioritises oca services, not just in Surrey but throughout the country. Pease vote Green. Having Greens on Surrey County Counci makes a rea difference. We beieve in buiding a Green economy which creates oca jobs. We wi: Invest in Green jobs which strengthen the oca and Surrey economy, communities and the environment and create a ëcircuar economyí which reuses and recyces our resources ñ whist reducing waste and poution. Support oca food production and distribution which minimises the resource and carbon footprints of what we eat and supports Surreyís rura economy. Manage pubic and and other deveopments owned by the counci in ways that maximise community vaue, and deiver sociay affordabe and sustainabe homes to rent. Provide ongoing support for sma businesses and communities in our towns and viages. Ensure that the highest environmenta and efficiency standards (Passivhaus) are met in a new Surrey County Counci deveopment & redeveopments, incuding schoos and estate management. This wi aow cimate targets to be met and save money in the ong run. 1

3 OUR ENVIRONMENT We beieve in protecting the Green Bet and our wider countryside. We wi: Defend our Green Bet and green spaces from inappropriate deveopment, particuary pressure from house-buiding, fossi fue driing and fracking and inappropriate eisure deveopments. Promote the Green Betís critica importance and vaue to our heath and we-being, and that of the widife and panet. Introduce a ban on Counci owned and on hunting, snaring and cuing. Protect existing parks and pay areas for the benefits of outdoor pay/activities/ pursuits and ensure everyone in Surrey is within 30 minutesí wak of a park or pay area so a are abe to enjoy the benefits of access to green space. Oppose the governmentís Londoncentric deveopment strategy, which puts pressure on Surreyís countryside and Green Bet and for housing. Investment and fairy-paid jobs shoud be more eveny distributed throughout the UK. Ensure our countryside is accessibe and we managed with sustainabe rura jobs, promoting biodiversity and pubic enjoyment as aims, rather than profit for private deveopers. Ensure that a of Surrey is managed to mitigate against rapidy increasing food risk. 2 OUR TRANSPORT We want to ensure safe, sustainabe, accessibe and heathy modes of transport across Surrey. We wi: Ensure rai services in Surrey meet the needs of passengers in terms of cost, quaity of service, accessibiity, reiabiity and efficiency and oppose cuts to services whist hoding franchise owners accountabe and supporting changes when these goas are not met. Maintain, improve and increase the number of strategic and oca safe waking and cycing routes. Ensure bus services meet the needs of oca communities and commuters in an affordabe way to provide a reaistic aternative to car use, and resist cuts which harm quaity of ife in rura areas or intensify socia excusion. Introduce measures to improve air quaity in areas affected by traffic poution. Introduce 20mph speed imits outside Surrey schoos and in residentia areas to hep keep chidren safe. Resist expansion at Gatwick Airport and Heathrow which woud impact on roads and rai in Surrey, and worsen air quaity, noise poution and carbon emissions Start the processes of decarbonising Surreys Transport to ensure cimate change targets are meet. 3
