1 THE GUERNSEY CLUB DE PÉTANQUE Invites you to join us for our Annual Open Competition 30 th. September & 1 st. October 2017 Indoor and Outdoor Terrains Available ALL GAMES WILL BE PLAYED TO 13 POINTS Appropriate footwear is to be worn at all times when playing. Entrance fees include temporary membership of the Guernsey Club de Pétanque LBG for the duration of the competition for non-members. Saturday 30 th. - Open Doubles, Sponsored By Network Insurance & Financial Planning Inscription from 8.15am. Play commences at 9.00am. (Prompt!) Teams will be drawn in leagues of four, and play three games in the morning session. The winners of each league will qualify for the Open, the second team for the Plate, the third team for Consolage1 and the fourth team for Consolage 2. In order to give all teams a full day of Pétanque; for the afternoon session, each of the four competitions will be divided into two divisions and each team will play 3 games against other teams in its division. The winners of each division will play each other in the finals. There will be no play-offs for third and fourth. Sunday 1 st. - Open Triples, Sponsored By Doyle Motors (Honda) Inscription from 8.15am to 8.45am. Play will commence at 9.00am. Opponents will be drawn at random for Round 1, then winners against winners and losers against losers, for the next three rounds. All teams will therefore play a minimum of four games. Four teams will qualify for the semi - finals, the two winners contesting the final the two losers playing for third and fourth. At our end we will endeavour to keep the competition fees and the social charges as low as possible, and to keep the winning prize money as high as possible. We have 32 outdoor and 20 indoor terrains, a large spectator area with tremendous views over the West Coast (so bring your suntan lotion). 6 6 DIRECTIONS TO CLUB FROM TOWN/HARBOUR AND AIRPORT Pick up a free map on Condor, at the Harbour Terminal or Airport Terminal From the town roundabout, head up St. Julian s Avenue, through traffic lights at bottom, pedestrian lights, more traffic lights, more pedestrian lights and bear left at the top along Queen s road towards Mount Row traffic lights. Carry straight on through past the Hospital (on left) pedestrian lights to a further set of traffic lights. Carry straight through on Route de St. Andrew until you come to St. Andrew s Church on right. Just past the church up a small hill you will arrive at a small crossroads. (German Underground Hospital on left) Take a right turn into Candie Road and then at next very small crossroads, turn right into Les Rocquettes then first left into Les Friquets. Follow the very small lane and you will come to the Guernsey Pétanque Centre about two thirds down on the left. From the Airport turn left on exit and travel down Rue Des Landes to the traffic lights. Take a left turn and travel down the windy road, Rue des Blicqs, (taking care) to the junction with Route de St. Andrew (Le Bouillon) STOP AT THE JUNCTION. They have right of way although Perry s map shows you having such. Carry on straight up the hill, round a right hand bend and take the first little lane on your left, Rue des Carriaux. Stop at the crossroads and then travel across into Les Rocquettes, then first left into Les Friquets. Follow the very small lane and you will come to the Guernsey Pétanque Centre about two thirds down on the left. Good luck!!!
