BADMINTON HORSE TRIALS (FINAL DAY), GLOUCESTERSHIRE One of the UK s top sporting events join us for a great day out in the historic parkland of the Badminton Estate for the worldfamous equestrian event. On the final day you will experience the world-class jumping tests, parade of the Duke of Beaufort s Hounds and parade of competitors. There is also a shopping village and food & drink marquees. PADSTOW OBBY OSS DAY Padstow has celebrated this May Day festivity for centuries where a Hobby Horse is lead through the streets dancing and singing as the parade follows behind with locals dressed in white costumes decorated with ribbons. BBC Gardeners World Live includes talks by experts including Alan Titchmarsh & Monty Don together with hundreds of plant stalls etc. COMPTON ACRES GARDENS, NR POOLE Recognised as one of England s most important ornamental gardens, Compton Acres is set within 10 acres with a variety of different themed gardens all connected by easy access circular pathways. From the breathtaking rock and water garden, the tranquil wooded valley and beautiful Japanese and Italian gardens you will see over 3000 species of plants, trees and shrubs. The tea rooms offer a delicious lunch menu and there is a well-stocked plant centre. SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY 1940 S WEEKEND The Severn Valley Railway is a full-size standard gauge railway line running steam-hauled passenger trains between Kidderminster in Worcestershire and Bridgnorth in Shropshire, a distance of 16 miles. Step back in time for a 1940 s nostalgic day out with the freedom to travel along the whole length of the line at your leisure. As well as train journeys there will be much to see including music, war time memorabilia, costumed re-enactments and vintage vehicles plus many other activities at each station. ST MICHAEL S MOUNT, MARAZION (NAT TRUST) Stroll from the mainland across the causeway to this iconic rocky island still home to the St Aubyn family as well as a small community, crowned by a medieval church and castle the oldest buildings dating from 12th century. Immerse yourself in history, admire the architecture and discover the legend of Jack the Giant Killer. You can also explore the subtropical terraced garden and enjoy breath-taking views across the spectacular Mount s Bay! Sensible footwear is advisable for this day out. GLOUCESTERSHIRE VINTAGE & COUNTRY EXTRAVAGANZA Located near Cirencester this annual vintage celebration brings together 1000 classic cars, motorbikes, steam engines, and vintage tractors, buses and military vehicles with live arena shows, a vintage fun fair, countryside animal displays including ferret racing & bird of prey shows plus all the usual trade, craft and food & drink stalls. TEWKESBURY & SEVERN RIVER CRUISE INCLUDING TRADITIONAL AFTERNOON TEA Following a morning in the quaint riverside town of Tewkesbury (we suggest you only have a very light lunch!) we travel to Upton-Upon-Severn to board the MV Conway Castle for a leisurely 2 hour cruise on the River Severn with musical entertainment. During the cruise a full afternoon tea will be served with an assortment of sandwiches, homemade scones with strawberry preserve and clotted cream, lemon drizzle cake with tea or coffee. BUCKINGHAM PALACE STATE ROOMS EXHIBITION 200th ANNIVERSARY QUEEN VICTORIA S BIRTH This year s special exhibition at Buckingham Palace celebrates 200 years since the birth of Queen Victoria. Explore 19 magnificent State Rooms still used today to receive and entertain Royal guests on State, Ceremonial & Official occasions. Glittering chandeliers, beautiful pieces of furniture, art work by world masters and exquisite porcelain are all on display and can be viewed in rooms such as the Throne Room, Music Room & White Drawing Room perhaps the grandest of all the state rooms. THE LIVING RAINFOREST, NEAR NEWBURY Discover the wonders of the rainforest with 650 species of amazing plants and animals, where you can watch birds, butterflies, lizards and friendly monkeys roaming free in the tropical glasshouses. Learn about some of the world s most endangered rainforest species and the conservation work being done to preserve their demise. There is also a gift shop and restaurant on site. HMP SHEPTON MALLETT GUIDED PRISON TOUR, SHEPTON MALLET A new attraction recently opened to the public, join us for a fascinating 2 hour guided tour of the decommissioned HMP Shepton Mallet prison, one of the oldest in Britain. The informative tour is lead by an ex-prison officer who managed these very wings! Discover over 400 years of vivid history of Shepton Mallet prison which dates from 1610, how the prison operated, stories of past inmates and the hidden grisly world of capital punishment. Sensible footwear is strongly advisable, and there will be some stairs to climb during the tour. LONGLEAT SKY SAFARI BALLOON FESTIVAL & SAFARI COACH TOUR, WILTSHIRE After enjoying a coach tour of Longleat s Safari Park, complete with tigers, lions, elephants, giraffes & rhinos amongst many more, enjoy the rest of your day wandering around Europe s largest hot air balloon festival in the grounds of the house. Dozens of hot air balloons of all shapes, sizes & colours can be experienced up close with a tethered launch, followed by a mass launch early evening and an illuminated night glow. During the day you will also have time to enjoy the small animal enclosures & the elegant mansion. Cafes and food outlets offer food all day. DEWSTOW HIDDEN GARDENS & GROTTOES, SOUTH WALES Discover over 7 acres of lost gardens with lit tunnels and underground grottoes buried under thousands of tons of soil for over 50 years. Built in 1895, the gardens were buried just after WWII and only rediscovered in After excavation, although some areas were in poor condition, other parts remained as good as the day they were created. Repairs have now been completed through a restoration project. WYE VALLEY & TINTERN ABBEY MILL INCLUDING GUIDED COACH TOUR & BUFFET LUNCH Following a warm welcome of tea & coffee at Tintern Abbey Mill, we are joined by an experienced guide for a 2 hour coach tour of the beautiful Wye Valley, following the path of the River Wye carving out the landscape in limestone gorges, with informative commentary on the local area and surrounding beauty. We return to the Mill for a buffet lunch and time to browse the craft shops and the working water wheel. LUKESLAND AUTUMN GARDENS TOUR, IVYBRIDGE We will be given a warm greeting at Lukesland Gardens and taken on an informative tour of the gardens, set in a beautiful valley location, with a small brook cascading from a Dartmoor water source, through ponds and over waterfalls. The 24 acre site is a mix of woodland gardens and formal gardens which are just stunning at this time of year. Victorian beech trees glimmer gold, above glorious acers of fiery red, orange and yellow. Afternoon tea and cake will follow the tour. PADSTOW CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL A real festive treat awaits at Padstow s 11th Christmas Festival. CANCELLATION must be notified to our reservations office. If more than 48 hours before excursion date, it will be subject to a 40% cancellation fee of the coach element and 100% of the admission, ticket or meal as applicable, which we will have purchased in advance. CONCESSIONS Special fares are available on some excursions for senior citizens and children aged under 14 years. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. DISCOUNTS are available for group bookings of more than 20 seats on same excursion. NO SMOKING A no smoking policy operates throughout all our coaches. GENERAL We reserve the right to cancel excursions should insufficient numbers be booked or adverse weather conditions dictate. We also reserve the right to replace executive coaches with standard if needed although this will be avoided as far as possible.
