1 NATIONAL EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER TROPICAL DEPRESSION 04F SITUATION REPORT 9 of 18/12/2016 This Situation Report No: 9 issued by the National Emergency Operation Centre and cover the period from 16:00-24:00 hours on Sunday, 18/12/ HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST 8 HOURS A Flood Warning remains in force in low lying areas in Central Division Queens Rd is open to motorist except for some place where traffic is directed to a single lane. Kings Road - Korovou Town and the Wailotua Flats is closed due to flooding. Waila Pumping Station has burst its bank & nearby settlers have been advised to evacuate to nearest evacuation centers. Nausori Hospital has evacuated to Vunivivi Methodist Church Hall. 2.0 WEATHER BULLETIN FOR WHOLE OF FIJI SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER 33 FOR HEAVY RAIN ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI AT 7:42 PM ON SUNDAY 18TH DECEMBER 2016 A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE WHOLE OF FIJI. FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR PARTS OF FIJI. SLIGHT STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE. SITUATION: Tropical Depression (TD04F) with central pressure of 1000 HPA was located near 15.8 degrees South latitude and degrees East longitude or about 370km Northwest of Nadi or about 290km West of Viwa Island at 10am this morning. It has once again become slow moving and anticipated to take a south-westerly track in the next hours. 3.0 GENERAL COORDINATION 3.1 Evacuation Centers are open to receive evacuees from affected areas. No. of Evacuation Centers Central Division Northern Western Eastern Division Total Divisions Divisions No. of Evacuees Central Division Northern Western Eastern Division Total Divisions Divisions , The NEOC has been activated with a skeleton staff of four teams manning operations around clock in 8 hour shifts.
2 3.3 All Divisional EOC s have been instructed to be on operation mode for until further notice. 3.4 The NEOC remain in full operation, with its four (4) teams, until Monday morning. NDMO staffs will take over with skeleton teams. 4.0 DIVISIONAL/SECTORIAL UPDATES 4.1 Western Division Central Business District in the division continues to operate as normal. Rakiraki town is still closed due to flooding. All evacuation centres except for Barotu Village have closed. Water Authority of Fiji: Rakiraki District: Nakasia Dam and Narara Dam road are inaccessible. Mead road & bridge closed underwater Qalau road & river is closed underwater Korotale bridge underwater Qalau Pump underwater Naqoro flat underwater. Ba District: Waica dam still closed due to high turbidity Lautoka District: Navutu pump not working Nadi District: Navakai Sewarage (Waqadra main) 1 not running. Vaturu dam compressor will operate for 6hrs today and spillway is overflowing but it is no risk to the public since the water level is decreasing from critical level. Sigatoka District: Keiyasi pump was off due to heavy rain. Fiji Electricity Authority: Report from FEA as of 1000hrs that Nadi back road currently have power shut down from 12am to 6pm. Fiji Roads Authority: Report from FRA has highlighted that there are increased numbers of potholes on the road and contractors will be caring out remedial work as soon as the weather clears up. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution during this time.

Nausori Hospital has been temporarily relocated to Vunivivi Methodist Church Hall as a precaution of flooding until further notice. Team will depart at 0900hrs 19/12 and return on the next day. 4.4 Eastern Division Highlights Occasional rain, strong winds & people are still living in tents in Lau Cloudy weather & heavy rain in the Lomaiviti Group. Most bridges in Koro are closed due to flooding. Gau, Batiki and Nairai are experiencing rough seas, occasional showers & some village community still experiencing water problems due to blockage from the main water pipe. They have been advised to use rain water. Waidau crossing is still underwater in Ovalau. 5.0 EVACUATION CENTRE
