5 CHAUFFEUR DRIVE 8-Night Private Tour Westport Day 1: Monday, Arrive in Ireland! Dublin Morning arrival at Dublin Airport. After clearing customs and collecting your luggage, you will be met by your luxury private chauffeur transfer that will take you from the airport to your pre-booked Dublin hotel. This itinerary is based on the Academy Plaza Hotel. This is an excellent 3* city center hotel. (Note: Rooms at the Academy Plaza Hotel are very efficient, but do run on the small side, just to note) Day 2: Tuesday, Dublin Today we have included the Dublin Hop On Hop Off bus for you to enjoy and get around the city. Also included today is skip-the-line admission to the Guinness Storehouse, enjoying panoramic views of Dublin city from their gravity bar. Optionally, you can pre-book dinner and a traditional show with Celtic Tours at time of booking. Overnight in Dublin. (B) Day 3: Wednesday, Dublin - Roscommon After a leisurely breakfast, you are met by your private chauffeur/driver. Maybe stop at Belvedere House and Gardens, or the Kilbeggan Distillery for a tour and tasting with a stop in Athlone and a visit to Sean s Pub. Arrive at your castle hotel where you will enjoy dinner and overnight. (B, D) Day 4: Thursday, Explore the West Your castle location makes an excellent location to explore the west of Ireland! It is an easy drive to Sligo and Rosses Point. The village of Rosses Point is set against the backdrop of the spectacular Dartry mountain range and the beauty of Sligo Bay. Make your way along the coastal towns of Easky and Enniscrone and from here the choice is yours; have your driver take you out to the last outpost of Belmullet or to the lively town of Westport, with many shops and pubs to enjoy. Make your way back to Kilronan for overnight. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B) Day 5: Friday, Roscommon - Cliffs of Moher - Killarney Make your way from Roscommon to Killarney. Enroute, a stop at the magnificent 700-foot high Cliffs of Moher. Cross by ferry to Tarbert and onto Tralee. Dinner and overnight in Killarney. (B, D) Day 6: Saturday, Coastal Discovery Today is yours to see some of the most spectacular parts of Ireland. A magnificent day lies ahead of us, as we make our way along the Kerry coast and the Dingle Peninsula. The Dingle Peninsula stretches 30 miles into the Atlantic Ocean from Ireland s south-west coast. We stop in Dingle town with an opportunity to dine on fresh caught fish and chips in this small port town. Overnight in Killarney. (B, D) Day 7: Sunday, Blarney - Cobh - Waterford Today you have a chance to stop at the Blarney Castle, perhaps stop in Cobh, and then to Waterford, where you will dine and overnight. 6 CELTIC DREAM 11-Night Escorted Tour Cobh 6 Killarney Day 1: Saturday, Arrive in Ireland! Dublin - Belfast Morning arrival at Dublin Airport. Dublin Airport arrivals can avail of our transfer time of 9:45 am for departures to our Belfast hotel. Belfast arrivals are provided transfers up to 12:00 noon. From Dublin Airport we depart and travel the short journey north via Dundalk and Downpatrick, for a coffee/ tea stop at the St. Patrick s Centre. Opportunity to visit the gravesite of St. Patrick. From here we continue north to Belfast. From Belfast airport, it is a leisurely start to the day with time to rest. This afternoon, take in a panoramic city tour of Belfast. We return to the hotel for dinner. Your evening is free to explore the city on your own before a relaxing overnight stay in Belfast. (D) Day 2: Sunday, Belfast - Giant s Causeway - Titanic Museum Today we enjoy a scenic tour of the Antrim Coast and visit the Giant s Causeway and Museum. Marvel at the volcanic columns formed over 60 million years ago and hear the ancient fables of the Causeway. We return to Belfast where we visit Titanic Belfast. We travel south via the majestic Cliffs of Moher, where we pause with spectacular views. Continue along the western coastline, as we make our way to charming Killarney town via Lahinch and Adare. In Killarney, we enjoy dinner at our hotel this evening. Killarney is an excellent location to enjoy traditional music, pub entertainment or a traditional top-rated Irish Cabaret show (which can be pre-booked at the time of your reservation for $49 per person). 25 NORTH COAST Night Self Drive Tour Day 1: Arrive in Edinburgh Arrive in Edinburgh today. Transfer to your hotel, where you are free to enjoy the city on your own. Overnight in Edinburgh. Day 2: Edinburgh - Inverness (189 Miles) Check out of your hotel and collect your car rental from the local Edinburgh location. Depart from Edinburgh this morning and head over the Forth Road Bridge, opened in 1964 by the present Queen, into what is known as the ancient Kingdom of Fife. From the Forth Road Bridge you can enjoy wonderful views over the Firth of Forth. When you reach Perth you may want to make a stop at nearby Scone Palace, a grand gothic stately home at the site where Scottish kings were crowned. There are also wonderful gardens and a maze. Heading further north you will be passing Dunkeld with a notable cathedral dating back to By Dalwhinnie you can turn onto the A86 which takes you past Loch Laggan and onto Spean Bridge and Fort Augustus. Here the Great Glen starts and you continue your journey along the entire length of famous Loch Ness. Reaching Inverness later that day for overnight. Day 3: Inverness to Ullapool (182 Miles) Today you begin traveling on the North Coast 500 route. Pass Strathpeffer, Applecross, Bealach Na Ba, and Torridon. Perhaps enjoy a visit to Inverewe Gardens today. Overnight in Ullapool. Day 4: Ullapool - Tongue/Thurso (100 Miles) Depart from Ullapool and make the short drive (13 miles) to Knockan Crag which offers a great photo opportunity of Stac Pollaidh a spiky mountain which rears up immediately to the north of the single track road from the A835 to Achiltibuie. Continuing on the A835, you will see Ardvreck Castle. At Achmelvich* we recommend a visit to its beautiful white sandy beach. Continue to Smoo Cave for a visit with photo stops at Kylesku Bridge. Overnight tonight will be in Tongue or Thurso. *Note: if walking/hiking is an interest around Assynt, then you can take A894 and take out Achmelvich and Lochinver. Day 5: Tongue/Thurso - Inverness (181 Miles) Today you may want to consider a visit at Castle of Mey, where there may be views of the Orkney Islands. Continue towards Inverness, perhaps enjoy a visit to Glenmorangie Distillery today. Overnight in Inverness. Day 6: Inverness - Edinburgh (187 Miles) It is time today to leave the Highlands and you will travel south following the A9, past Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park, the first national park in Scotland. If you would like to visit another Whisky Distillery we recommend Dalwhinnie Distillery, which is the highest distillery in Scotland. Why not stop at the Hermitage near Dunkeld which invites for a short walk. At Perth you may want to turn off to make a worth while tour to Stirling to visit Stirling Castle and the pretty Old Town below it. Knights, nobles, and foreign ambassadors once flocked to the Royal Court at Stirling Castle to revel in the castle s grandeur. Follow in their footsteps and see history come to life. Return back to Edinburgh later that afternoon. Here you will return your car rental and check into your pre-booked Edinburgh hotel. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy Edinburgh. Overnight in Edinburgh. Day 2: Brodick Depart Edinburgh at 8:30 am from designated departure point and travel west to Glasgow, Scotland s largest city. Travel west to Glasgow, Scotland s largest city, then into Ayrshire to visit the 18th Century Culzean Castle. You continue to Ardrossan where you catch the ferry to the Isle of Arran. Overnight in Edinburgh. Day 2: Isle of Skye Departure point at 6 Waterloo Pl, guests are requested to check in at least 15 minutes before departure. Depart Edinburgh at 8:30 am, depart Edinburgh and travel west, passing Linlithgow Palace and Stirling with its imposing castle and views of the Wallace Monument. We pass Doune Castle, set of Monty Python s Holy Grail before stopping in Callander for refreshments. Crossing into the Highlands we head north towards the glorious scenery surrounding Loch Lubnaig then through Breadalbane (meaning the high country of Scotland ) and up to the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor. We continue through the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe, scene of the great massacre of the Clan MacDonald in Leaving Fort William after lunch you drive past Britain s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and into the Great Glen. We depart from London at 9:15 am and make our way to William Shakespeare s birthplace Stratford on Avon, home to the Tudor thatched cottage and gardens of his wife, Anne Hathaway. You will have time to explore the magnificent village of Stratford and enjoy lunch, before continuing to the World Heritage site of Ironbridge. Set in a stunning forested gorge on the river Severn this historic valley boasts the world s first ever iron bridge and a host of attractions to choose from. It was once described as the most extraordinary district in the world! From here we travel to the beautiful riverside town of Shrewsbury for the next two (2) nights (on some dates the accommodation may be in Chester). Day 3: Wales This morning our tour will take us into the heart of North Wales. We will travel through beautiful green valleys and lovely little towns and villages then visit the picture book medieval castle of Conwy. Then we explore the impressive mountain scenery of the Snowdonia National Park. We will hear tales of Owain Glyndwr before traveling back into England. Day 4: Touring To the northeast of Shrewsbury lie the hills of the Peak District National Park with a mixture of stunning scenery and beautiful little villages. We will take a scenic route through the Park to the village of Castleton then in the afternoon we can visit the famous mansion house and gardens of Chatsworth, home to the Cavendish family, Duke of Devonshire. Chatsworth is often named the UK s favorite country house and a visit will reveal some of the finest collections of furniture, priceless paintings, Old Master drawings and neo-classical sculptures. From here we travel east out of the hills to the wonderful historic city of York where we will spend the next two (2) nights. Day 5: York Today we have a choice of things to do. We can spend the whole day at leisure exploring the medieval heart of York, a city whose rich history goes back to the time of the Romans, Vikings and Normans. Visit some of the fascinating museums, the amazing York Minster or just lose yourself in the maze of narrow streets and ancient city walls. Alternatively we could join our guide on a half day excursion into the Yorkshire Dales visiting the pretty market towns of Knaresborough or Ripon and some of the remote valleys and rugged scenery of the Eastern Dales, followed by a free afternoon in York. 33 DISCOVER WALES 6- Night Escorted Tour Day 1: Arrive in London Arrive in London today. Transfer to your hotel where you will stay overnight. Day 2: Aberystwyth Make your own way to the London departure point by 9:00 am (unless optional transfer was purchased at time of booking). Depart from London at 9:15 am. Departing London the road north west takes us through the Cotswold s, an area of outstanding beauty that is unchanged in many ways for hunderds of years. Following a lunch break, we travel west through the Welsh Marches; the borderlands between England and Wales marked out by the ancient Offa s Dyke. The route then leads into the heart of the Cambrian Mountains and the beautiful Elan Valley from where pure Welsh water is supplied to the distant City of Birmingham. Leaving here in the late afternoon it is just an hour or so to the beautiful seaside town and cultural center of Aberystwyth, our base for the next 2 nights. Day 3: Touring - Aberystwyth Traveling north our first stop of the day is in the ancient market town of Machynlleth. We then head for the beautiful mountain village of Beddgelert, on to Porthmadog, and over the Cob causeway before reaching the castle at Harlech. Return to Aberystwyth for overnight. Day 4: Touring - Tenby Leaving Aberystwyth we travel around the coast of Cardigan Bay through the pretty little planned town of Aberaeron to New Quay with its charming sandy harbor containing fishing boats and its connections with Dylan Thomas. We continue inland to Carreg Cennen Castle, home to the Welsh princes of Deheubarth and later a stronghold of King Edward I. Explore the castle and learn more about the great period of castle building that helped to consolidate the English kings claim on Wales. Later, we head for the coast again at Laugharne where Dylan Thomas wrote the famous play Under Milk Wood. From here it s a short distance to Tenby, the small, picturesque seaside town that will be our base for 2 nights. Day 5: Touring - Tenby Today, we visit the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. After stopping in the county town of Pembroke with yet another fabulous castle you will travel on to the tiny cathedral city of St Davids for lunch and time to explore this magical place. In the afternoon we return to Tenby to explore the colorful town. Day 6: Touring - Tenby - London We pick up the motorway taking us past the big industrial cities of South Wales to the outskirts of Cardiff for a visit to St Fagans outdoor National History Museum (an optional drop-off for anyone wanting to end the tour in Cardiff is available).
