3 GARDEN SPONSORSHIP SCHEME Ordsall Hall gardens have launched an exciting NEW sponsorship scheme. Support the gardens and give a unique Christmas gift to yourself, friends and family or in memory of a loved one. Your support will help us develop the gardens and its wildlife over the coming years, through wildflower beds; wildlife-friendly hedging, bird and bat nesting sites; new floral and historical planting schemes and beds with winter colour and interest. For further information speak to a member of the gardening team on site or call the Hall on or visit salfordcommunitylesire.co.uk/culture REGULAR ACTIVITIES Drop in, no booking required Family Sunday 3 December / 1-4pm Have a go at a range of fun, hands-on activities that span the history of Ordsall Hall from the 1300s up until the present day. 1 Once Upon A Time. Every Wednesday / am Listen to wonderful stories together, have fun singing songs and rhymes, make simple crafts to take home and play with our toys and percussion instruments. Plus meet other parents and carers, explore the building and gardens and stay for a coffee and a chat in the cafe afterwards. 1 Knit and Natter Every Monday / 10am - 12pm Join us at our friendly knit and natter sessions. Beginners welcome or bring your own project. Free Sunday Tours of Ordsall Hall 10 & 17 December / 2-3pm Discover the fascinating history of Ordsall Hall and join one of our volunteers for an informal walking tour of the house. 3

4 CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS Textiles Workshop: Box of Delights Wednesday 29 November / 10am - 4pm Join textile artists, Norma Hopkins and Teresa Jones from the Textiles 21 group on this day long workshop. Work with dissolvable fabric and use free machine embroidery to build up a rich surface of stitch, create open work effects and a lacy edge and make a delightful little box in four steps. 45 (plus booking fee) Suitable for ages 14 and over. 29 NOV Christmas Carols with Salford Music and Performing Arts Service (MAPAS) 3 December 2-4pm Come and enjoy some festive favourites performed in the Great Hall by the Brass Quartet. Free, no booking required Christmas Grotto Sunday 10 & Sunday 17 December 1-3pm Don t miss this special festive experience. Come and meet Father Christmas in his magical grotto at Ordsall Hall and receive a gift! 4.50 per child (plus booking fee) Alteri Choir Sunday 10 December pm Alteri returns to present performances of Benjamin Britten's magical Ceremony of Carols, with harpist Angelina Warburton, and other Christmas music by Peter Warlock, Palestrina, Byrd, Victoria and Marenzio. 5 BBC Philharmonic Christmas Concert Monday 11 December / 6 7pm Hear music from a string quartet from the BBC Philharmonic in the stunning surroundings of Ordsall Hall. Sleepy Stories and Christmas Cheer Thursday 21 December 6pm & 7 pm Join Sleepy Steph for some Christmas cheer, winter tales and hot chocolate. Grab your favourite teddy, a cushion and a cup of cocoa before bedtime to hear stories in our Great Hall. Suitable for ages 3 and over per ticket or 25 for a family of 4 (plus booking fee) Hot chocolate included in ticket price. Booking essential Christmas Wreath Making Sunday 17 December 9.30am 12.30pm Get creative and make a festive wreath to take home using natural materials such as chillies, oranges and pine cones. For ages 14 and over. 25 (plus booking fee) Free mince pie and all materials included. Textiles Workshop: Colour onto Cloth Wednesday 24 January am - 4pm Improve your technique with textile artists, Norma Hopkins and Teresa Jones from the Textiles 21 group on this day long workshop. Learn how to prepare fabrics for embroidery or other textile projects and apply colour onto cloth with block printing, rubbing, stencilling and foiling. For ages 14 and over. 45 (plus booking fee)

6 CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS Sketching Event: Warholia 30 November / 7-9pm Join us for our next drawing workshop, looking at Andy Warhol and his approach to the 'portrait'. Using mixed media, we explore more well-known images and mass production media portraiture. A fun and experimental evening, bring along a favourite magazine for creative collage or use our materials. All abilities welcome. 30 NOV This relaxed workshop will be held in the cafe and a bar will be available for the duration of the event. 10 (plus booking fee), book online at shop.salfordcommunityleisure.co.uk 1 DEC Sweet stocking fillers Mr Tomlinson's Sweet Shop Every Sunday 12:30-3pm Visit the famous Mr Tomlinson's Sweet Shop on our recreated Victorian Street, Lark Hill Place and try some sweet treats. Plus you can pick up some unique stocking fillers in our museum shop. Perfect Christmas night out Coronation Street Pub Quiz 1 December / 6-8pm Think you know all about the world's longest running soap opera, Coronation Street? Then test your knowledge at our entertaining and fun Corrie-themed pub quiz over a drink or two. Perfect for a Christmas night out with friends or colleagues, get a team together and you could win a superb Corrie prize. 7 Festive Afternoon Tea at Salford Museum & Art Gallery Throughout December 12-3pm For a special seasonal treat, enjoy a delicious selection of sandwiches including turkey and stuffing, pigs in blankets and brie with cranberry. Tempting sweet treats follow, with scones, stollen, Christmas cake and yule log, all served with loose leaf tea or fresh ground coffee per person or upgrade and enjoy a glass of festive fizz for an additional 5. All bookings must be made in advance. 10 Dr. Sketchy 7 December / 6-9pm Don t miss the return of Dr Sketchy for another show stopping drawing workshop. With live acts followed by short poses, drawing competitions, music and a bar this is a great way to start the festive season! Suitable for 18 + only 12 (plus booking fee) Monton Voices Choir LOREM IPSUM 10 December / Performances at pm & pm Start your Christmas celebrations early as we welcome back Monton Voices Choir to sing us into the festive season. We will also have Christmas crafts for all the family and festive treats available in our cafe. Free, no booking required Meet the Artist: David Coulter 10 December / 12:30-3:30pm Local artist David Coulter will be working on one of his iconic paintings in the gallery. His paintings set the scene of Salford in the 1950s in 'Four Miles from Manchester: Tony Warren's Coronation Street'.
