Here you ll find a labyrinth of quiet, winding streets, shady corners and bubbling fountains. You can taste locally produced honey, sweet pastries and even a beer brewed in the village. Within easy reach are coastal, valley and hill-side strolls, Moorish villages and castles, delightful gardens, dramatic caves and the fascinating city of Granada with the most famous of Andalucían monuments the majestic Alhambra Palace. Our hotel, located in the heart of Lanjarón village is a real hidden gem and the perfect place to be based while you explore. There are numerous quiet spots in their gardens to relax, an outdoor swimming pool, a small spa with indoor plunge pool, sauna and steam room, their restaurant offers locally inspired gastronomic dishes and being family owned the welcome is second to none. Alhambra Palace, Granada Proposed Daily Itinerary O ur itinerary is expected to follow the daily schedule outlined below but please bear in mind that the order of the days may be amended, or walks substituted, due to weather conditions or changes beyond our control. Day 1 - We fly to Malaga airport and travel by coach up into the hills, to Lanjarón situated on the edge of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park. The journey takes approximately hours. Enjoy a welcome drink on arrival and dinner at the hotel this evening. Day 2 We ll discover Lanjarón today, seeing the village s famous fountains, hidden portales and quiet alleyways. Our orientation visit ends with a stop at a small brewery where we ll taste locally brewed beer! Day 5 At the magnificent Nerja Caves, formed over two million years ago, see the dry stone waterfall the Sala de la Casada. There will be time to independently explore the sea-side village of Nerja with its 17 th century church and gardens, enjoy lunch at one of the many cafés or perhaps spend time on one of the white sandy beaches. Our afternoon walk is on Lanjarón s doorstep and takes us to ruins of Lanjarón Castle, where legend says the last Moorish ruler threw himself off the castle rather than surrender and a stroll through the town s Salado Park. Day 3 Today is a day for flowers and gardens. We make a short journey to nearby Velez de Benaudalla where we visit the interesting Olive Oil museum and the beautiful Nasrid gardens. Following an included lunch in the village, we return to Lanjarón with a stop in the Lecrin Valley, to visit the quiet village of Nigüelas which is dominated by Pico del Caballo. We ll see the village s church, the Town Hall s delightful gardens, and enjoy an easy walk (approx hours) with panoramic views over the valley. Day 4 On a guided visit of Granada, we ll discover the city s historical Moorish & Arab quarter, Albaicin, and see the Cathedral. There will be some free time before our visit to the spectacular Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens an icon of Moorish Spain. Salobreña, on Andalucia s Tropical Coast

Along this coast, sugar cane was first introduced to Europe and Spain s only rum distillery can be found here. We ll end the day with a stop for rum tasting before returning to the hotel.

Day 7 The white washed villages of the Sierra Nevada gives us a glimpse of traditional Spanish rural life.

2 Day 6 A scenic walk (approx hours) along Granada s Tropical Coast, leads us to the white-washed coastal village of Salobreña, where we ll find its 10 th century Moorish castle sitting atop of the village. Along this coast, sugar cane was first introduced to Europe and Spain s only rum distillery can be found here. We ll end the day with a stop for rum tasting before returning to the hotel. This evening, prior to dinner, we ll enjoy a specially prepared traditional drink of Limoná Granaina. Day 7 The white washed villages of the Sierra Nevada gives us a glimpse of traditional Spanish rural life. We ll take a relaxed walk between villages and see workers producing traditional crafts, perhaps visit a market and enjoy a tapas lunch with views over the hillside. The hotel offers many facilities for a comfortable stay including an outdoor swimming pool, relaxing gardens and quiet spaces, lounges, a small games room, a spa and an indoor plunge pool, library, internet stations, bar and restaurants for indoor and al fresco dining. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel. Lanjarón s quiet street Day 8 We depart after breakfast to Malaga Airport for our flight back to the UK. Lanjarón L anjarón is a welcoming Andalucian white-washed village, located on the edge of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, in Las Alpujarras. It is a working town, famed for its mineral rich spring waters, which are still well known today. The village has a public mineral baths that offers treatments. There are bubbling fountains dotted around the village, each with its healing waters and each has a different poem. Lanjarón has a good selection of restaurants and cafés, heladerias, pastry shops, bodegas, where you can purchase locally made wines, cured ham, teas, soaps and local honey. There are also banks, supermarkets, a church and medical centre. C/ Francisco Tarrega, Lanjarón Tel: T he three star is located in the picturesque village of Lanjarón and is conveniently situated to enjoy the village s many amenities. We eat breakfast and most dinners in the hotel. The hotel prides itself on good quality, imaginative local cuisine with vegetarians and special diets expertly catered for. The restaurant is open to non residents also and is popular with people from the surrounding villages. The restaurant also offers a good selection of wines and beers. We ll also eat at village restaurants on a couple of nights. Lunch is included when we visit Velez de Benaudalla and on our visit to the white washed villages on Day 7, but other lunches are not included. Hotel rooms are en suite and facilities include: Climate control, television, mini fridge, tea/coffee tray, safe box and hairdryer. All rooms have a balcony or patio. Local Sightseeing L ocal transport costs and entrance fees are included in the holiday cost. We use a privately hired vehicle, which gives us some flexibility in our itinerary. We have a wonderful programme of walking, sightseeing and visits planned to let you fully experience the area along with opportunities to relax at our wonderful hotel and enjoy your surroundings.

What to bring W e recommend you bring the following items with you: Lightweight walking boots with ankle support (you may prefer walking shoes if you have strong ankles and these will also be suitable for sightseeing days) A sun hat and sunscreen A water bottle Daypack to carry guide books, picnic lunch and water bottle Simple first aid kit Lightweight waterproofs and fleece for the cooler parts of the day and the occasional rain shower Swimsuit and towel (hotel does not provide pool towels) An alternative to buying plastic bottled water is filtered water from a refillable bottle containing its own water filter. This enables you to fill up from any non salt water source and also helps save the environment from disposable plastic bottles. Passports, Visas & Insurance and other important information P lease make sure you are insured for guided walking up to 2000m. Please also take your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you - it will help in the event of an emergency. The EHIC has an expiry date so check that your card is valid for the duration of your holiday. You should have at least 6 months left on your passport from your date of arrival. If you renewed a 10 year passport before it expired, extra months may have been added to your passport's expiry date. These extra months will not count. Please ensure to regularly check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for updates on passport requirements leading up to and after Brexit negotiations or contact us for more assistance. Foreign and Commonwealth Brexit Information for Passports: for-travel-to-europe-after-brexit Non British Passport holders should consult the host countries embassy for applicable passport and visa entry requirements. The currency in Spain is the euro. You may wish to bring a small supply of euro with you but all major towns and cities have banking and ATM facilities. The hotel accepts credit and debit cards. Travel Information W e fly from London Gatwick to Malaga airport and return with British Airways. The flight takes approx. 3 hours 30 minutes. Details of your baggage allowance will be confirmed in your travel documents, sent to you approximately 10 days before departure. We include a coach transfer from Malaga airport to the Hotel Alcadima and return. The transfer time is about hours. If we are able to offer regional UK departure airports for this holiday, there may be a wait at Malaga airport for the Gatwick flight arrival before we make the coach transfer to the hotel. During the week we ll travel on foot and by coach. If you intend joining and leaving the party in Spain, we assume that unless you advise us otherwise, you will meet and leave the group at the. If this is not your intention, and you wish to join the group airport transfer, please let us know in writing at least 5 weeks before departure. Should you be making your own way to Lanjarón, there is currently (at time of writing) one bus a day that leaves Malaga at 1500 and arrives into Lanjarón at approx The bus is taken from the main bus station that is behind the train station. The cost is currently 13 each way and tickets can be bought at the bus station.
