1 GCSE Exam Briefing
2 Be on time for your exams. Most of your GCSE s will be in the Sports hall. 8.50am for morning exams to start at 9am 1:20pm for afternoon exams to start at 1.30pm Check your timetable carefully they are available on isams 2 exams in the same session will usually be taken back to back. If the duration exceeds 3 hours you will have been ed arrangements for your clash. Contact the school office if you are going to be late
3 Access Arrangements/Special Consideration Laptop users (+ some others) will take their exams in Old School House Governors Dining room or Drawing Room. If you have extra time you will be in the Sportshall (Rooms are on your timetable) If you have a problem before an exam (eg being unwell) let Mr Calvert know but try to take the exam. The exam board can be informed of the problem and will take it into account (medical note required). If you are running late inform the school but still try to get to the exam. Try to get a lift in with a parent/responsible adult rather than come in by yourself. This will help if you miss the official cut off time.
4 Equipment You must have a clear pencil case Make sure you have all of the correct equipment (pens, pencil, ruler, calculator, protractors, pairs of compasses etc) Most exams require you to write in BLACK ballpoint make sure you have a couple of spare pens. Don t bring your calculator case into the exam Water bottles ARE only allowed if they are clear, with no label and a sports cap (not screw cap).
5 Nothing else should be taken into the exam room Don t bring any paper or notes into the exam check your pockets! Don t bring bags, coats or anything other than your pencil case Don t bring a phone, smart watch or MP3 player into the exam room
6 BEFORE THE EXAM Please behave sensibly outside the exam room. Don t leave bags or coats here THEY WILL BE MOVED IF YOU DO! Check where you will be sitting on the seating plans that will be pinned up. You will enter the Hall row by row so don t crowd around the hall door. Exam conditions start from the moment you enter the room. This is not the time to fill your water bottle or use the toilet!
7 IN THE EXAM - You must not talk AT ALL once you are in the exam room. - Walk to your seat and get ready for the exam. - Watches must be placed on the desk (new requirement) - Check you have the correct paper and read the instructions on the front carefully. Don t open the paper until you are told to.
8 TOILET BREAKS - You are not expected to need to use the toilet during normal length exams Lost exam time, disrupts others, possible malpractice - Don t drink gallons of water before or during exams - If there are medical reasons why you make need frequent rest breaks please let me know and I will try and adjust the seating plan to minimise disruption.
9 AFTER THE EXAM - Stop writing immediately - REMAIN IN SILENCE - Papers will be collected in and then you will be dismissed in order. - Some candidates will not have finished please be fair to them and try not to disturb them - Leave the room as quietly as possible - Don t hang around the outside the sports hall be considerate
10 MALPRACTICE You don t have to intend to cheat to break regulations please be careful!
11 Results Day THURSDAY 23 rd AUGUST - Results can be collected in person from the library. - They will also be uploaded onto isams in the morning. You must ensure you have sorted your access out before results day. I won t be able to provide access during the holidays.
12 Post-Results Services This includes requesting copies of your script and remarks details will be sent out to your school . You must check your school for information on these services and it is your responsibility Only YOU can request these services not your parents or teachers. If you leave LRGS in the summer please provide an alternative contact your school will be deleted.
