1 BADDIES: THE MUSICAL VISUAL STORY This visual resource is for children and young adults visiting the Unicorn Theatre to see Baddies: the Musical. This visual story is intended to help prepare you for a new experience and to help you to become familiar with the surroundings and the performance.

2 Welcome to the Unicorn Theatre. We are a theatre for children and adults. This is what the building looks like from the outside. This is the main entrance of the theatre. There are some steps before you get to the front door. The words and pictures on the windows tell you what shows and activities are happening inside.

3 When you enter through the front door, you will see a big space with lots of tables and chairs in an area called the foyer. There are also some instructions on the floor tiles, you can choose to follow these instructions or you can ignore them.

4 The Box Office is also in the Foyer. This is where you can buy tickets or collect tickets that you have already paid for. There may be other adults and children waiting to buy or collect tickets when you arrive.

5 You may see some adults and children sitting at some of the tables having something to eat or drink from out Unicornershop. If you would like to listen to the music before your visit you can buy the cast recording via our website. Let us know and we will post it to you. Alternatively you can buy one when you visit to take home with you.

6 If you need to use the toilet, they are downstairs from the foyer. Look for the stairs going down.

7 These are the boys toilets. These are the girls toilets.

8 When you enter the theatre you will see a big picture of a red forest. The lights will be dark and the sounds of birds in a forest can be heard. Red Riding Hood will come down the stairs and walk through the dark forest. You will then see The Wolf dressed as Grandma in a bed in front of a cottage house. You will see Little Red Riding Hood through the window and outside the house.

9 At times the Big Bad Wolf may roar, why don t you show him you re not scared and roar back at him? He soon gets put in jail for his bad behaviour. The show gets interrupted by two guards. They are part of the show and are not really stopping it. You will also see them play instruments throughout. The house then flies away to reveal the jail.

10 You soon meet some other fairy tale characters, but maybe not as you ve seen them before; they act mean at times and constantly tease each other, but that s okay because it s their job to be bad.

11 The Ugly Step Sisters tell you stories of how they cut off their toes and fingers and then show you them in a jar - but don t worry, they aren t real - they are only pretending.

12 You will also meet some goodies along the way - Peter Pan and Cinderella.

13 Just after the interval when the show begins again, Peter Pan s business cards will fly from the ceiling - you can keep one if you like!

14 A big screen is lowered above the stage and shows you pictures of the good Fluffalo and the bad Snuffalo. You then hear a big roar and see red flashing lights. After Peter Pan has told each baddie how to reinvent themselves into goodies, the screen is brought up to reveal a giant disco ball that sends light shapes all over the stage and audience. This happens for the duration of Cinderella s song.

15 Not long after this song there is a lot of movement on stage and the lights will switch on and off. You will also see some fireworks but do not worry - this is meant to happen.

16 You may be surprised by the ending of the play as the goodies lose. But who is good and who is really bad? Do you think the right people won in the end?

17 During the show you might find something funny, you can laugh if you like. During the show you might see or hear something that makes you feel sad. You can feel sad if you like, that s okay. You might hear other people in the audience cheer, clap, shout out or scream. You can join in if you like. During the show you might feel that you need to take some time out. If you do don t worry about it, find an Usher and let them know. They will take you the chill out space where you can relax and return to the show when you feel ready.
