4 TRANSFERS Booked a transfer with LAL? Make sure LAL has your flight details at least two weeks before departure Airports in Florida can be very busy with lots of people arriving and waiting for passengers For private transfers only: our representative will have a board with your name on it and the LAL logo For shared transfers only: follow the signs to Ground Transportation and present your transfer voucher to the Shuttle representative. Miami Airport, proceed to Super Shuttle kiosk (blue & yellow). Fort Lauderdale Airport, proceed to Go Shuttle kiosk (green & white) You will be taken directly to your accommodation Can t find the driver? Find the terminal information desk Call the emergency number at the front of this guide book Flight delayed before you leave? LAL needs your flight details if you have booked LAL accommodation at least two weeks prior to arrival Make sure you have the full postal address of your accommodation, including the zip code Any problems? 5 LAL ADVANTAGE LAL Advantage is our student portal helping you with all aspects of your stay with us, including lessons, placement test, useful information and our feedback forms. You should have received a log in. If not, your booking confirmation will have an LAL student ID number (6 digits). Go to /advantage enter lal then your ID number in both fields. For example lal Please fill in your registration form and placement test online before arrival as this will save time on your first day. Please let us know your first impressions by completing our First Week Feedback Form in LAL Advantage.

6 ACCOMMODATION Residence (Saturday or Sunday) Let us know at least one week in advance by what time you intend to arrive at the residence but please be aware of the check-in times. Make sure you have the full address with you Check in and out times Arrival onwards Departure Homestay (Saturday or Sunday) Let your homestay know, at least one week in advance, when you will arrive You should have all information in your accommodation confirmation, including the address If you do not, please the school Remember, you are staying in someone s home so please treat them and their family with respect Addresses La Quinta 5727 N. Late arrival at a homestay without letting us know may lead to non-admittance to the homestay and you may need to stay at a hotel overnight at your own expense. Federal Highway until you reach the La Quinta hotel. School entrance is on the northeast side of the hotel. Shore Haven Inn 4433 N. Ocean Drive Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Florida, How to get to school Exit the hotel front door and turn right on the street in front of you. Continue walking/biking 125 ft to Commercial Boulevard and turn right. Walk or ride 1.1 miles/1.7 kilometres to N. Federal Highway. Cross over to the other side of N. Federal Highway Turn right and walk 0.6 miles/1 kilometer on N. Federal Highway until you reach the La Quinta hotel. School entrance is on the northeast side of the hotel Own Accommodation Arrangements Bring the address of your accommodation on the first day

8 FIRST DAY What to bring 33 Passport 33 Proof of health insurance (if you have not booked it with LAL) 33 Phone/tablet/personal device 33 I-20 document (for F-1 visa holders only) 33 Pen and notebook (but you will get a pen when you arrive so don t worry) Monday Arrive at school to take placement test Registration, orientation and tour of the school Break First lesson City tour followed by Welcome Lunch Afternoon lesson (only for Intensive and Supplementary courses) End of city tour and lunch and you are free to go Tuesday First lesson Break Second lesson Lunch break Afternoon lesson (only for Intensive and Supplementary courses) End of afternoon lesson Lessons are two 45 minute sessions together so you will be in class for 90 minutes Class sizes vary from 6-12, depending on your course (up to 15 in high season)

13 UNDER 18s Accreditation compliance and safeguarding for under 18s means that we need to treat our under 18s a little differently: You need to be back with your homestay host by You will need to sign in and sign out of the school The minimum age for smoking in the US is 18 and for drinking is 21 You will need to provide proof of health and travel insurance on arrival. If you cannot do this, you will have to take LAL s insurance for the duration of your stay or until you can provide LAL with proof of alternative cover There is no included leisure programme Parents or legal guardians of students under 18 must complete our welfare and consent form BEFORE arrival: forms./welfare-form
