OS SM M (3 items) Abstract: Parks in one form or another have been a part of Milwaukee since 1835, but it wasn t until the late 19 th century that the City of Milwaukee created a system of parks to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population. The Milwaukee County Park Commission was established in 1907 to develop a parks system in the rural areas outside the City of Milwaukee. During the Great Depression, the financially strapped city park system was transferred to the County in Scope and Content: The collection consists of correspondence, reports, resolutions, minutes, construction specifications, notes, programs and other ephemera.
