17 Celebrating Traditional Celtic Culture First North Texas Irish Festival was held in 1983 at Nick Farrelly s Pub Moved the celebration to Fair Park in 1984 Largest Irish Festival in the Southwest and in the top 10 in the U.S. Attendance for 2012 is expected to exceed 73,000 Visitors from Texas, Colorado, Oregon, New York, California, Florida, Wisconsin and Europe 16

18 Southwest Celtic Music Association 501(c)(3) Organization with no full-time staff Previous sponsors include Coca-Cola, North Texas Tollway Authority, Wells Fargo, Dallas Area Rapid Transit System, GEICO, and others Over 600 volunteers work year round to plan the festival Southwest Celtic Music Association(SCMA) award student scholarships in music and dance SCMA also awards grants to other Celtic organizations 17
