Erie Limited Clinician List Tom Barbalet Tom has been a podcaster since 2006 and is the host of Model Rail Radio. His interest in model trains comes from childhood when he was given a Lima "The Overland" train set in Australia in the late 1980s. Moving back to the US in 2005, Tom was re-introduced to model trains by a coworker and began planning a model railroad layout. He started building benchwork in early 2009 and laying track mid Interviewed on Podcast411 (the inside the actor s studio for podcasters) in 2007, Tom stated that it was astonishing the lack of model railroad podcasts. With a proven record building a community with freely available, always accessible podcasts without paid subscription or advertising, Tom saw the need for a similar style of podcast being available to the model railroading community. The live internet radio format meant anyone could contribute and the format was actively decided by the listeners. And thus, Model Rail Radio was born. Craig Bisgeier Craig Bisgeier enjoys the challenges of modeling a period (1890's) that require nearly everything to be scratchbuilt or kitbashed. His career in the hobby has been dedicated to expanding his modeling skills by trying all kinds of techniques and materials to achieve results beyond ordinary wood and styrene. His 1892 Housatonic Railroad layout is an extension of that philosophy, and a test bed for his work. Bill Brown, MMR Bill is a member of the Central New York Division of the Northeastern Region. He is Master Model Railroader #377 which he earned in He serves as the AP Chairman of the NER, and as the National Contest Chair for the NMRA. A retired educator, Bill is the owner of LARC Products, a participant in the NMRA s Partner s Program giving discounts to current NMRA members. Bruce De Young, MMR Bruce grew up in northern New Jersey at a time when the anthracite railroads still crisscrossed the area. He models those anthracite railroads in HO scale and the logging railroads of

Pennsylvania in Hon3. He and his wife Bonnie are in the process of moving to Michigan to be closer to one of their three sons. Bruce joined the NMRA in 2006 and is the Immediate Past President of the Garden State Division. He also served as Director, Vice President, and Achievement Program Chairman. At the national level, Bruce serves as the Education Department Manager for the NMRA. Bruce is a regular clinician at the NMRA National Conventions and Regional Conventions around the Country. Chuck Diljak After growing up in a Pennsylvania town along the Lehigh Valley Railroad and going to college at a school in the heart of the Pennsylvania anthracite region, Chuck developed an interest in the railroads and mining industry that served this region. Through his research, he has included or has plans to include many of the region s features on his freelanced HO scale model railroad, the Wyoming Valley. Chuck joined the NMRA 12 years ago and is currently President of the Garden State Division. Prior to this role, he served as editor of the division s newsletter and director for the division. He is also co-editor of the NMRA ebulletin and published various articles in Railroad Model Craftsman and NMRA Magazine. George Downer George is a retiree living in Yorktown, Virginia, a member of the Mid-Eastern Region and an active member of the Chesapeake Bay and Western Model Railroad Club. I've been an NMRA member for over 20 years. George enjoys scratch building structures and is constantly learning new techniques and discovering new materials for building models. Scott Dunlap Scott Dunlap is a life-long railfan and model railroader. He has been a member of the NMRA and The Model Railroad Club for over 25 years. He is also a member of the Layout Design Special Interest Group and the Operations Special Interest Group. Scott is a fan of the Baltimore and Ohio and has had a website devoted to the railroad since Lee English After college, in 1975 Lee joined his father and brother at Bowser Mfg. He has been in charge of Bowser production ever since.

He has some experience in almost all phases of the industry, and has personally done the following manufacturing processes. - Zinc Die casting - mold making and production - White metal spin casting - pattern and mold making plus production - Lost wax brass casting - pattern and mold making plus production - Plastic injection molding - mold making and production - Surface grinding - Open table milling - CNC machining - Screw Machining - Painting of trains in production quantities - Production Pad Printing - CAD 2d Drawing - CAD 3d design - 3d Printing - Punch Press production - All kinds of hand assembly and fixtures. Dr. Kevin Feeney, CPA Dr. Kevin Feeney, CPA is a noted Accounting historian who has given similar presentations on about 20 other RRs at NMRA and other historical society conventions. Steven Funaro Steven is a principal in Funaro & Camerlengo, a well-known manufacturer of resin kits and detail parts. He is a frequent clinician at trade shows and conventions. Needless to say, Steven is very experienced in assembling resin kits! Bob Hamm, MMR A dyed in the wool Colorado narrow gauge modeler of nearly fifty years, Bob has been an NMRA member for nearly long. He is a frequent clinician, authored a number of articles on the hobby. He has held a number of divisional, regional and national positions in the NMRA, and is currently the new Eastern District Director for the national and just retired after eleven years as the National Contest Chair and a similar tenure as the NER's Contest chair. He is an MMR holding ten of the eleven awards. Bob is a snow bird residing in New York state in the warm months and Florida in the colder ones. He has been married for fifty years to his wonderful wife, Pat, has two great daughters and five super grandchildren. Jeff Hanke

Jeff is modeling the East End of the Cumberland Subdivision, the portion of the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) main line between Brunswick and Cumberland, MD during the Chessie System Era (circa 1982) in HO scale. This two-level layout is under-construction with Martinsburg, WV nearing completion and Miller, WV, as well as Hancock, WV well underway. Jeff, a member of the Nutmeg Division of the NER, has been a NMRA member since 1997 and has three Achievement Certificates. Malcolm Houck, Esq Now a practicing Attorney at Law in the commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mal has been a modeler since 1955 and train and railroads enthusiast since pre-school age! With time out for school, college, and Law School (and the necessary professional apprenticeship) he returned to model railroading in the late 1960's, and thereafter embraced what is known and referred to as "Prototype Modeling." Mal s modeling focus and historical interest for the last 45+ years has been the NYO&W. He has written and contributed 50+ modeling articles to the OWRHS Website, has written an (irregular) OWRHS newsletter column "O&W Ramblings", has authored four of the OWRHS Annual Observer books, and has had covers and cover articles published in the March 2004 and May 2005 issues of Railroad Model Craftsman. Mal has also made, produced and sold five specific HO Scale decals sets for O&W diesels, passenger cars, milk cars, and steam engines. As part of Mal s interest in Prototype Modeling, he has concentrated on constructing locomotives, structures, and "Museum" Dioramas. As part of those efforts, he has built from scratch, or rebuilt 45+ NYO&W Steam Locomotives. Along the way Mal has earned the Prototype Modeling and Author AP Certificates, and is working on his Scenery Certificate. Edward M, Koehler Edward is a retired federal government worker having spent thirty-one years in the employ of the United States Treasury. Ed is also a fifty-year member of the National Model Railroad Association; currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Sunrise Trail Division of the North East Region, NMRA. Ed has received the Model Railroad Author Certificate of Achievement for his recent book SHORT LINE RAILROADS OF LONG ISLAND; which was published by the Long Island Sunrise Trail Chapter, National Railway Historical Society. Ed has been a member of the National Railway Historical Society since 1969 and the Ontario and Western Railway Historical Society since Ed is also the author of MUSTER 125 which is a book about the 125 th Anniversary of the Fire Department, City of New York and currently holds the rank of Honorary Battalion Chief in

the Fire Department, City of New York. Ed resides with his wife, the former Melissa Comen in Bayside, New York. Vincent Lee Vince grew up near the CNJ s 4 track mainline through New Jersey, but somehow became attracted to the Erie Railroad, particularly its coal operations in the anthracite fields of Pennsylvania. When he discovered the Erie s small terminals east of the Hudson River that were served only by car floats, he began researching the 28 th street Terminal in order to build a switching intensive model of 28 th Street in HO. Vince is a Director of the West Island Model Railroad club in Hicksville, NY. Bob Nalbone Bob is a life-long model railroader. He has been a member of the The Model Railroad Club in Union, NJ for over 20 years, and is the current Chair of the Club s HO scale Operations Committee. He is also a member of the NMRA, Layout Design and Operations Special Interest Groups, and the author of the e-book Commuter Operations for Model Railroads believed to be the first and only book ever written devoted exclusively to modeling commuter operations. Irwin Nathanson Living in Lake George in up-state New York, Irwin models British (00), American (HO) and German (HO) on three separate but interconnected layouts. His layouts were covered in an eight-page article in the August, 2016 issue of "NMRA Magazine." Also see: Irwin has retired twice. In 1995 as a Captain in the Navy after serving 27 years, mostly in the Reserves. And most recently in April, 2018 after a long career in international business with the U.S. Government and with private American, British and Canadian companies. Irwin is also an Assistant Professor of International Business. Irwin is Vice President of the Hudson-Berkshire Division, NER/NMRA. Richard Newmiller, MMR Richard is constructing his second freelanced HO scale layout that is influenced by the PRR and a secondary interest in logging operations. He is a member of the Garden State Division, NER and currently resides in Plainsboro, NJ. Thomas Oxnard, MMR

Tom has been an active member of the Seacoast Division NMRA over the past decade after being in the model railroad hobby since his youth. The layout he built with his children has grown over the decades to where he earned his MMR in Recently he has enjoyed building prototype buildings and scenes, and expanding his layout to become an operating railroad. Marc Pitanza Marc was born on Staten Island, NY. He grew up with mostly HO and G scale trains but became seriously interested in N scale when he moved to a one-bedroom apartment around He is currently working on an HO scale switching layout based on the Modern Era LIRR Bushwick Branch. He is the author of Staten Island Rapid Transit (Arcadia 2015.) Marc works as an art book buyer for a major museum in Manhattan. He lives in central NJ. Mike Prokop Mike was born into a railroading family in New York City. His father, grandfather, and uncle were railroad men so becoming a lifelong model railroader seemed a natural progression. He did fulfill a forty-year career working in the office equipment business at four major corporations as an engineer and service manager. Mike s HO model railroad, the New Jersey & Western, consumes his 25X36 foot basement in Hamilton Square, NJ. This transition era railroad has monthly ops sessions using an 8-10 person crew. Many sound units, LED layout lighting and nicely detailed scenery are highlights of his railroad. About six years ago, Mike took his model railroading on the road with his Free-mo module depicting the Reading Railroad s Freight and car-float operations at their Linden Street facilities on the Camden, NJ waterfront. Modeled near the end of operations in the early 1960 s, all of the structures are scratch built or heavily kit-bashed. With the track plan very true to the prototype, it s fun to operate. Mike has a garden railroad representing turn of the century narrow gauge railroading and is also planning a so-called retirement ON30 railroad. Mike is on the board of directors of the New Jersey Division of the Mid-Eastern Region and currently serves as its Treasurer. Thom Radice Thom had the classic Lionel experience at 18 months old, compliments to his father. Fast forwarding, in 1997 he purchased a home. Half the reason for his choice was the space to build a medium size model railroad. Although this is the first attempt, Thom has assisted a couple of friends during his high school years on their layouts and in the late 1990 s became a member of the Garden State Central Club in Wall NJ. His passion (or obsession) is railroading during the

American Civil War. Construction on his layout started in 2003 and is 90% completed...(right!). Along with his good friends DC Cebula and LeBron Matthews, they founded the American Civil War Historical Society. This is a group for individuals interested in the history & modeling of American Civil War Rail Roads. Though we cover the ante-bellum period though the end of Reconstruction, our focus is American railroads from 1860 through Sample topics include the U.S.M.R.R., the W&A, the O&A, the B&O., sharing time, techniques and archival resources. Our goals are (1) to help preserve & disseminate Civil War railroad history and (2) to be an aid to individuals modeling the railroads and railway systems of this period. Group discussions & sharing are encouraged. We are registered with the NMRA as a SIG and have a site on Groups.io, Civil War Railroads. David Ramos Dave has been married for 28 years and has two fantastic children. He has worked in the Information Technology industry for nearly twenty-five years as a Systems Engineer. Dave has been actively modeling the New York Central s 30 th Street branch since He started in model railroading in 1973 with a Tyco Jupiter train set, having the obligatory 4 X 8 train board with figure 8 track. As the years passed he grew apart from the hobby of model trains only to come back when his late friend Charles G Weekes showed him his traction layout in the early 1980 s. He joined the Nassau Model Railroad club on Long Island and the collector bug bit him! In 1998 he purchased his home and the plans started to flow. Dave was introduced to model railroad operations by the late George Berriso and soon set his sights on building an operating layout. He had been helping out other modelers on designing and building their railroads empires and he learned the power of an open mind and taking responsibility! Since that first experience Dave has operated on many layouts and has made many friends in the hobby. Jon Silhavey Jon started model railroading in 1992 and has been custom painting since His layout is the Mitchellsville Branch, a Conrail spin-off short line set near Reading, Pa in The layout is about 40 percent complete. He is also a member of the Shoreline Trolley Museum, Sunrise Trail Hotrak and the York Durham Heritage Railway, near Toronto. Rick Spano Rick Spano is a Life Member of the NMRA, MER, NER and NTRAK, who has attended most Conventions and meets for these groups. Rick has presented a variety of clinics for all of these groups. His wife Linda plans their Railroad and Model Railroad conventions. He has been

published in MR, RMC, Great Model Railroads, N Scale Railroading and NTRAK Steam Annuals. Rick enjoyed teaching his physics students for 33 years. His Sceniced and Undecided N scale layout reflects his and Linda's love of traveling by train and car in the Pacific Northwest coastal and mountainous regions of the US and Canada. Mike Tylick, MMR Michael Tylick has been fooling with electric trains for as long as he can remember. Never one to commit to a single large project, he has instead built a number of smaller layouts of various types and in various scales over the years. A retired inner-city art teacher, Mike has been a long-time contributor to many publications including Model Railroader, Railroad Model Craftsman, the National Model Railroad Association Bulletin, and most recently the e-zine Model Railroad Hobbyist. He has also delivered numerous clinics and presentations on various railroad and historical subjects on all levels in different parts of the country. Railroad interests are leaning towards prototype rail and architectural photography, and Mike is becoming keenly aware of what can be observed outside the basement. Much of his hobby time is now spent employed as a custom builder specializing in railroad structures and rolling stock. He also has worked with several organizations who build custom Model railroads and has recently formed RailDesign Services, focusing on the design and visual aspects of model railroading. Recently remarried, Michael now lives in eastern Massachusetts and has started an On30 railroad loosely based on the New Haven s Old Colony Lines. He was recently awarded the honor of being named Master Model Railroader #523. James van Bokkelen James has been a prototype modeler and historian since His primary interest is the Boston & Maine RR, but its complex connections and inter-line operations take his 'New England Railroad History and Modeling' website into New York, New Jersey, Quebec and New Brunswick. He mostly models in HO scale; his B&M Eastern Route layout has been open for the National Narrow Gauge Convention and the Tour de Chooch. His Rowley, MA modules have shown with the Hub Division Module Group since He's given clinics for historical and prototype modeling groups, as well as at Hub Division and NER events. He's earned seven Achievement Program certificates. Fred Willis Fred Willis is life member of the NMRA and a member of the New Jersey Division. New England Railroads, particularly in Maine in 1900 are his primary prototype interest. His primary modeling activities are scratch building structures and cars and researching the history of small railroads and locomotive designs.

Tom Wortmann Tom is a retired telephone worker who used a lot of telephone wire on his Mohawk, Salem and Kensington model railroad. Tom holds 6 AP certificates and is working on number 7 for is MMR. Tom joined the NMRA in 1969 upon discharge from is service in the Marine Corps. Tom was once the President of the Staten Island Society of Model Railroaders and has been an officer with the Sunrise Division, NER. Tom helped the late Tom Matthews who was instrumental in resurrecting the GSD from its defuncted status back in Tom has been the Division s Vice President for 3 years, it s President for 6 and a director since as well as being its one-time newsletter editor and webmaster. Tom is currently the Erie Limited Convention Chairman. Kaylee Zheng Kaylee is the daughter of Chinese immigrants and is a practicing mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry. An active member in the model railroad community, Kaylee has given presentations at many conferences, and is working on developing a campaign to attract young girls to the hobby. Her models have been published in the August 2013 edition of Railroad Model Craftsman. She has also appeared in the documentary film, Model Citizens, and on a New England Public Radio segment on model railroading. In her spare time, Kaylee enjoys playing the guitar, photography, hiking, shopping, and sleeping when her schedule permits.
