Have the kids complete their activity page In reference to their puppet that they create during art. Activity Sheet: Letter Oo: Have kids complete practice page 1. Music & Movement: Dinosaur, Dinosaur: See Song Sheet. Arts & Crafts: Dino Puppet: Give each child a brown paper lunch bag. Have the kids paint their bag green. After the bag has dried, cut pieces out to create a dinosaur puppet such as red mouth with white jagged teeth, large eyes, triangle spikes down the back, and polka dots over the bag, etc. Science/Math: Dino Count: Using dinosaur manipulatives have the kids practice counting by ones, twos, and fives. Large Group: Triceratops, Triceratops, Brontosaurus: Play this game like Duck, Duck, Goose. TUESDAY Language Arts: Ten Hungry Dinosaurs: Print off the pieces to this flannel story. Cut out and laminate. Add Velcro to the back of each piece and use to help tell the story. Activity Sheet: Number 41: Have kids complete practice page 2. Music & Movement: Dinosaurs Lives Long Ago: See Song Sheet. Arts & Crafts: Stuffed Dinosaur: Print off both pages of the stuffed dinosaur on light green paper. Have the kids color the details of their dinosaur. Then have them cut out their dinosaur on the thick black line. Then staple the two halves of the dinosaur leaving a small opening to stuff the dinosaur with newspaper or paper towels and then staple the opening closed to complete the project. Science/Math: Simple Math: Using the variety of manipulatives have the kids practice simple addition and subtraction. Large Group: T-Rex Tag: One of the children is the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and the others are all plant-eaters. Mark off a fairly large area and have Tyrannosaurus Rex try to tag the plant-eaters. When the Tyrannosaurus Rex tags them, they must sit on the ground and stay there. Once the Tyrannosaurus Rex has tagged all of the plant-eaters, the last person to be tagged becomes the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
3 WEDNESDAY Language Arts: My Dinosaur Booklet: Print off a copy of the booklet for each child. Have them color the pages as they finish writing the sentence. Then have them cut out the pieces and paste onto the picture that the image corresponds. Activity Sheet: Letter Oo: Have kids complete practice page3. Then using a dinosaur figurine have the kids press the dinosaur feet or body into the play dough leaving an impression. Allow the playdough to dry and harden. Science/Math: Dino Egg: Talk about dinosaur eggs and how the shell so of dinosaur eggs were soft and leathery. To show them what they were like put an egg in a cup of vinegar overnight. The egg will slowly become soft and leathery. Allow the kids to feel the difference between an egg that was not in the vinegar to an egg in the vinegar. Be sure that the eggs are hard boiled before completing this experiment. Large Group: Dino Egg Hunt: Using Easter eggs hide small dinosaur figurines inside of the eggs and hide the eggs around the room or outside. Have the kids hunt for the eggs and see how many dino babies they can find. THURSDAY Language Arts: Letter Oo Word and Picture List: Have the children name words that begin with the letter Oo. Write them on a large dry erase board along with a picture of that word. This helps the children associate the word with the image. You may continue this activity by telling them to go home and talk with their family about others words that begin with the letter Oo and have them add to the list the following day. Activity Sheet: Number 41 : Have kids complete practice page 4. Music & Movement: I m a Mean Old Dinosaur: See Song Sheet. Arts & Crafts: Dino Teeth Necklace: Have the kids shape play-dough into dinosaur teeth shapes and then poke a hole through the top of the tooth with a toothpick to make an opening. Allow the teeth to dry. Then have the kids lace them on a string to make a necklace. You can add other beads and charms as well if you so choose. Science/Math: Dino Patterns: Using the variety of manipulatives have the kids practice making different dinosaur patterns. Large Group: The Jaws of T-Rex: Put a ten foot circle somewhere in the room. Hide large Dino teeth in different places around the room (triangle cut outs from white construction paper) before they get there. Have the children find the teeth and bring them back to the circle. Tape the teeth around the circle. Explain to the children that the circle is how wider the Tyrannosaurus Rex mouth was. Let them see how many of them can fit in the jaw. FRIDAY Language Arts: Journals: Have the kids write in their journals about their favorite dinosaur and then draw a picture of them as well. Activity Sheet: Letter Oo & Number 41: Have kids complete practice page 5. Music & Movement: Dinosaur Boogie: See Song Sheet. Have the kids name their dinosaur. Science/Math: Paleontologist Dinosaur Dig: Bury dinosaur figurines in sand and allow the kids to explore the sand carefully finding the dinosaurs. You can also bury noodles to replicate dinosaur bones for the kids to find as well.
