Being in the heart of the sailor's rendezvous, on the corner of Paradise Street, the Gordon Smith Institute charity provided welcoming safe lodgings, a library, reading room and spiritual guidance for seafarers. Chancery House now lies opposite John Lewis and the Salt House Tapas at the entrance to Liverpool One.
