6 Cadillac Square Once the site of the Detroit Central Market, Cadillac Square is a re-established park that lies immediately to the east of Campus Martius Park. Cadillac Square Park is home to the relocated Bagley Memorial Fountain, seasonal basketball courts and a variety of seating to enjoy, along with the array of food trucks that set up shop in the area during the week. DOWNTOWN STREET EATS Presented by and Supported by Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Downtown Street Eats boasts a revolving choice of great lunchtime food choices from your favorite food trucks and a variety of local restaurants and pop-ups. MID-DAY MUSIC Presented by Wednesdays, Noon - 2 p.m. Enjoy live, acoustic performances by metro Detroit s finest singers and songwriters, along with delicious lunch options from the area s most popular food trucks and restaurants. Four half basketball courts and a sand volleyball court are available for open and league play. Pick-up games are FREE. 9 Detroit s newest public space - Beacon Park - was developed by DTE Energy and opens to the public on July 20. The park infuses light, energy and motion to create a distinctive gathering place and unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. The circular, open lawn is the largest of any Downtown Detroit Park, providing room to run, play, relax and recharge. Beacon Park will offer year-round programming, interactive light installations and a contemporary restaurant with a rooftop garden and dining space that provide panoramic views of the park and city skyline. On the western edge of Downtown, this beautiful and contemporary park will activate 1.2 acres, improve walkability and create a catalyst for cultural vibrancy and economic development in the city of Detroit. 11 Spirit of Detroit Plaza Spirit of Detroit Plaza, a newly designed Downtown public space on Woodward at Jefferson, opened on Monday, June 12, 2017 and continues through Thursday, August 31, Weekday Plaza activities include a rotating schedule of lunchtime food truck service, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and live performances featuring talented youth and established artists representing the cultural diversity found in our city s neighborhoods, each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Spirit of Detroit Plaza offers a new way to enjoy downtown Detroit and a new location for civic discourse and community exchange. 12 Capitol Park Capitol Park is the center of downtown s most dense residential neighborhood, surrounded by cafes and unique retail offerings, enhanced with beautiful greenery and comfortable seating. Responding to the transformation of the neighborhood to residential, Capitol Park will be redeveloped with a planned 2018 reopening. The intimate Capitol Park will become a premiere downtown space in a historically significant and iconic district. Tremendous redevelopment is also taking place around the park as new businesses and residences flock to this intimate corner of Downtown. 13 The Woodward Esplanade ABOUT THE PARKS The Woodward Esplanade is a new public space that extends from the south end of Campus Martius Park to Larned St., further connecting Downtown to The Spirit of Detroit Plaza and the Riverfront.
