1 Contact: Pat Dowling, Public Information Officer / (843) office / (843) cell pcdowling@nmb.us 25 th Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick s Day Parade & Festival March 16 on Main Street North Myrtle Beach, SC The 25 th Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick s Day Parade & Festival will be held March 16 on Main Street. The parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. sharp and the festival will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. 100 units have been entered in the parade, and over 125 arts and crafts and other vendors have been entered in the festival. Food vendors and Main Street businesses will also participate. Last year s parade and festival drew close to 24,000 people and a similar crowd is anticipated this year. The parade will also be broadcast live on WPDE TV-15. In the past, WPDE s sister stations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and elsewhere have also picked up the live feed of the parade. 2 Contact: Pat Dowling, Public Information Officer (843) / pcdowling@nmb.us / Emily Grey Wayne, Winner of North Strand Optimist Club Friend of the Year Award, to Serve as Grand Marshal for 25 th Annual NMB St. Patrick s Day Parade & Festival North Myrtle Beach, SC Emily Grey Wayne, winner of The North Strand Optimist Club Friend of the Year Contest, will serve as Grand Marshal for the 25th Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick s Day Parade. As a dancer and mentor at Arts Alive, Emily works with adolescents who are trying to cope with anxieties, loss of family structure, and depression. She listens to their concerns and encourages them to stand against bullying, to value life, and to persevere through tragedy. Through dance, Emily is able to encourage creativity and expression as a means of coping with tragic or difficult upheavals in the lives of the people she mentors. As a result of her work with young people, Emily has developed a life-long commitment to helping teenagers caught in the grip of depression. In 2012, Emily was chosen as Miss Loris Bog Off, and this year will compete for the title of Miss South Carolina. She has selected teenage depression as the platform for her campaign. Because of her strong, consistent commitment to troubled youth in her community, Emily was presented with the North Strand Optimist Club Friend of the Year award.

3 Contact: Pat Dowling, Public Information Officer (843) / pcdowling@nmb.us / Joanne Meyers Creates Winning 25 th Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick s Day Parade & Festival T-Shirt Design North Myrtle Beach, SC Joanne Myers has been selected as the winner of the 25 th Annual North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick s Day Parade & Festival T-shirt Design Contest. The public was invited to create a t-shirt design for the 25 th Annual St. Patrick s Day Parade & Festival souvenir t-shirt. designs were submitted for consideration. Myers will receive a $100 Walmart gift card, and her design will be printed on the official 2013 St. Patrick s Day souvenir t- shirt. She will also be recognized at the festival. The souvenir t-shirts are available for purchase at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center, 1030 Possum Trot Road, North Myrtle Beach, and they will also be sold during the March 16 parade and festival on Main Street.
